5 MAXIMIZE WASTE- TO-ENERGY WITH MEMBRANES With the integration of the Compact 33 ultrafiltration (UF) membranes into their Memthane Anaerobic MBR (AnMBR), Veolia Biothane and Pentair X-Flow have created a solution to treat high-strength and high-solid waste streams found in industries like distilleries, dairies and bio-ethanol producers.the AnMBR system maximizes the renewable energy production while producing superb quality effluent that can be reused or discharged directly to sewer. The combination of an anaerobic digestion step with a robust and reliable membrane separation step offers several significant advantages, including higher biogas production and higher biomass concentration leading to short pay-back periods. Memthane is typically 99 percent efficient, produces valuable methane rich biogas and significantly lowers the operational costs compared to conventional technologies.
