1 About CREW College: CREW stands for Collaborative, Respected, Empowered Workers. CREW College is delivered by ROSIES Foundation. ROSIES mission is to promote empowerment and independence in people with disabilities by creating meaningful employment and training opportunities. Through the development of its own profit-driven social enterprises, ROSIES generates jobs that enrich and inspire our team, our customers, and our communities. CREW is the first step on the journey to employment at one of ROSIES businesses. About CREW College Courses: CREW courses are designed to empower individuals with a variety of abilities to develop relevant skills and meet the needs of the current job market. We provide interactive experiences, with small group and specialized instruction to promote real-world learning. Each course is carefully designed to support individuals in acquiring the skills necessary to secure and sustain employment in a field of their choice. Students will have opportunities to apply what they have learned throughout their CREW courses through supported apprenticeships and meaningful employment with ROSIES ventures. 1

2 CREW Course Model: The six-month CREW program is comprised of 19 course modules designed to train students to be collaborative, respected, empowered workers. The courses are described below. A typical session for every course will be in the following format: 1. Check in: students check in and review the schedule for the lesson 2. Baseline quiz: just 3 questions on the material 3. Information is presented 4. Experiential/ Group activity 5. Take away: what they learned 6. Quick check for understanding quiz 7. Mindfulness activity and we assign a small at home activity/ research they need to have completed for next session CREW Courses: Collaborative (5 courses) Our Collaborative courses are designed to teach skills in effective communication and collective decision-making. Students are encouraged to explore alternative perspectives and solutions through group discussion and teamwork projects. 3 Respected (5 courses) Within almost every organization there is a hierarchy among the employees based on position, title, role, and function. Through our Respected curriculum students will learn about navigating various social hierarchies throughout the workplace and how to interact with dignity and respect. Students will also learn tools for setting personal boundaries and expectations to promote self-confidence and self-respect. Empowered (5 courses) Empowerment courses begin with supporting students in identifying their personal goals and strengths. Courses promote self-awareness and self-regulation tools in order to give students the ability to effectively advocate for themselves across their social, home and work life. 5 courses Course 1 Identify and the Diagnosis Course 2 Self- advocacy 101 Course 3 Self advocacy 2 Course 4 Self determination Course 5 Self management Workers (4 courses) Our first set of Workers courses are designed to help students identify their individual career goals and how to create a realistic and achievable path to meet those goals. Students will learn research, application and interview skills in addition to important soft job skills such as professionalism, work 3

4 ethic, and on- the-job problem solving in order to support long-term success in the workplace. Students will have opportunities to apply what they have learned throughout their CREW courses through supported internships with ROSIES businesses. Identifying job role 2. Knowing how to follow verbal/ visual directives 3. Self advocacy- identifying your needs and being able to express and or find help to get help 4. Personal appearance/ hygienic 5. Understanding infrastructure 6. Socially appropriate work place behaviors & interpersonal relationships 7. Skills for ROSIES jobs: tablet use, retail software, customer service, making/selling popsicles 4

5 Students at different levels and with different learning styles will be supported and accommodated: 1. Each course curriculum is designed to meet needs of students with different learning styles 2. Each course will be visually presented 3. We have 2 instructors so small group and break out sessions can be implemented to individualize learning 4. The instructors will differentiate the amount/ content/ pace/ vocabulary based on student needs Tuition: The cost of tuition for the CREW College term beginning June 2015 is $6,500.
