1 October 2014 EJD STUDENT DISCLOSURE STATEMENT This disclosure statement is being provided to each new student upon payment of an application fee, but before payment of a registration fee, and to each returning student, prior to payment of any fee for an academic term. This disclosure must be signed by the student, who shall also receive a copy of the signed statement, and is retained by the school. Pursuant to Guideline 11.3 of the Guidelines for Unaccredited Law School Rules, Concord Law School of Kaplan University ( Concord ) states: The method of instruction at this law school for professional law degree programs other than for the Juris Doctor degree is principally by technological means including interactive classes. Completion of a professional law degree program at this law school other than for the Juris Doctor degree does not qualify a student to take the California Bar Examination or to satisfy the requirements for admission to practice law in California. It may not qualify a student to take the bar examination or to satisfy the requirements for admission to the practice of law in any other jurisdiction. A student intending to seek admission to practice law should contact the admitting authority in the jurisdictions where the student intends to seek to qualify to sit for the bar examination or for admission to practice for information regarding the legal education requirements in that jurisdiction for admission to the practice of law. She began her legal career in California, litigating a wide variety of commercial litigation matters while volunteering in a temporary restraining order clinic for battered women. More recently, she practiced in the area of disability rights, involving high impact class action litigation in state and federal courts. Professor Berman conducts bar review lectures nationwide, preparing students for both substantive and skills portions of bar exams in numerous jurisdictions and is a nationally recognized expert on the performance test. Professor Brandes has been honored with Outstanding First Year Professor, Dean s Award for Excellence in Teaching, Outstanding Faculty, and Law School Service awards. In addition to his State Bar memberships, Professor Brandes is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. During his career, Professor Ciroli was also assistant counsel for the Pittsburgh Housing Authority and general counsel for an international IT company. Professor Cwik has published several professional articles on family law and fatherhood, conducted a nationwide study on domestic violence and the response of clergy, and has testified before the Wisconsin Governor s Commission on Families and Children on current legal issues facing families and children. His practice is also involved in the areas of transactional real estate, unlawful detainer, and breach of contract. Mr. David is a former managing director of Apple Computer International (Hong Kong) Ltd., a subsidiary of Apple Computer, Inc. He also founded and was principal in several firms involving trade with China and is involved in the management of industrial real estate holdings. He has previously served as a member of the governing board of the Keck Center for International and Strategic Studies at Claremont McKenna College. In addition to working at Concord she is a staff attorney in the Criminal Division of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pasco County, Florida, where she concentrates on post-conviction motions. Prior to working as a staff attorney she was an appellate attorney for the Office of the Attorney General in Tampa; in private practice in the areas of family law and bankruptcy; and an assistant attorney general in the area of dependency law. A former prosecutor and former assistant attorney general (Illinois), Professor Dodge also serves in the Illinois Senate President s Office as Deputy Counsel to the Senate President, where he is part of a multi-year project to re-write and modernize Illinois Criminal Code and Code of Corrections. Johnson In addition to her work with Concord, Professor Andrea Johnson is a Professor at California Western School of Law where she teaches Business Organization, Telecommunications, Business Planning, and Administrative Law, and directs the CWSL Center for Intellectual Property, Technology & Telecommunications. Professor Johnson previously worked in business management and economic development in Washington D.C., where she also served as the Assistant Corporation Counsel; and in corporate litigation for a Wall Street firm. Her recent articles on telecommunications have been published in journals such as Journal of Law and Education, Law and Technology Journal, and Rutgers Law Journal. Education: B.A., Howard University; J.D., Harvard Law School. Courses: Business Planning Scott Johnson Scott F. Johnson is a with Concord Law School at Kaplan University. He is also a Hearings Officer with the New Hampshire Department of Education. Professor Johnson was previously in private practice with a focus in administrative law, constitutional law, education law, and health law. While in practice, he was involved in a number of precedent setting cases including Claremont v. Governor, the case establishing that all New Hampshire students have a constitutional right to an adequate education. He frequently appeared before administrative agencies, trial courts, and appellate courts. He is a member of the United States Supreme Court bar. Professor Johnson is the author of a number of articles and books in various areas of law including two casebooks in the education law area. 10 State Bar Membership: New Hampshire Marc Jones Professor Jones is an attorney with the Department of Homeland Security in the Immigration and Customs Enforcement division. In addition to litigating criminal immigration cases administratively in Immigration Court, he also prosecutes criminal immigration matters in federal district court, as well as argues criminal immigration appeals in the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Previously, he served on active duty with the Air Force for 10 years in the JAG Corp, where he was a criminal litigator. Although most experienced in the Air Force as a criminal defense attorney, he served both as a prosecuting attorney and a defense attorney. He has also worked at both the trial and appellate levels. Lehnardt Professor Kaufman has extensive experience with the criminal justice system both as a trial attorney and as teacher. As a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law, he has worked at the trial and appellate level on a wide range of family, criminal and poverty/welfare law issues. He has taught at Villanova University School of Law, where he developed a cooperative clinical education program, and at Widener University in its criminal justice program. Dr. Landry also holds a Master of Public Administration from Jacksonville State University and a Ph.D. in Public Administration and Public Policy from Auburn University. Following law school, he served as Law Clerk to the Honorable James S. Sledge, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Northern District of Alabama and he then entered private practice. Since 1996, Dr. Landry has practiced primarily in the bankruptcy, commercial and business law. He currently serves as an Assistant U.S. Bankruptcy Administrator for the Northern District of Alabama and is an Adjunct Instructor in the College of Commerce and Business Administration at Jacksonville State University where he teaches courses covering business law, business ethics and real estate law. Dr. Landry has published numerous articles dealing with bankruptcy law, ethics and public policy in journals such as the Mississippi Law Journal, Mercer Law Review, Journal of Business and Economic Perspectives, Memphis Law Review, American Bankruptcy Institute Journal and the Journal of the Legal Profession. Lehnardt was an attorney for the U.S. Department of Commerce for three and a half years. At the Department of Commerce, he advised the Import Administration at the U.S. Department of Commerce in its antidumping and countervailing duty investigations and reviews. His advice includes on-site counseling at official verifications in the Republic of Indonesia and the People s Republic of China. While at the Department of Commerce, Mr. Lehnardt represented the United States in international trade matters, including litigation at the U.S. Court of International Trade, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the World Trade Organization, advising the Office of Textile Agreements with regards to the textile provisions of the U.S.-Chile Free Trade Agreement and the U.S.-Peru Trade Promotion Agreement. Dean Currier earned his B.A. from U.C.L.A. in 1968 and his J.D. from the University of Southern California in He served as a law clerk in the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit in Thereafter, he practiced law at Latham & Watkins in Los Angeles, California. Dean Currier began his law teaching career at the University of Kentucky College of Law in He spent a year as a visiting faculty member at Duke Law School ( ) and a semester as a visiting faculty member at Monash University Faculty of Law in Melbourne, Australia (1985). From 1977 to 1996 he was a member of the faculty at the University of Florida College of Law. Garon Professor Garon joined Hamline in 2003, serving as the law school s ninth dean from In he also served Hamline as Interim Dean of the Graduate School of Management. He is a nationally recognized authority on intellectual property, particularly entertainment practice, copyright law, cyberspace, and intellectual property entrepreneurship. Garon is the author of Own It The Law & Business Guide to Launching a New Business through Innovation, Exclusivity and Relevance, a concise and readable overview of the IP law issues related to starting a business and building it on IP. He began teaching full time in 1993 at Western State University College of Law in Orange County, California. There he taught all aspects of business law, entertainment, and intellectual property. He served as chairperson on the curriculum committee and served as founding president of the Western State Law Foundation. From 1996 to 1998, he served as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. From 1999 to 2001, he was on the Dean's Advisory Board, and from 1998 to 2001, he was a member of the Entrepreneurial Law Center Advisory Board. In 2000, he joined the Franklin Pierce Law Center in Concord, New Hampshire, where he taught business law, entertainment law, and copyright. While in New Hampshire, he served as Chairperson of the New Hampshire Film Commission. Garon also has extensive practice experience. From 1988 to 1989, he worked at Shea & Gould and its successor firm Myerson & Kuhn in Los Angeles, California, specializing in entertainment law, film financing, recording agreements, business formation, and copyright and trademark licensing. From , he ran a solo practice in Laguna Beach, California, where he practiced a wide range of entertainment, corporate, and transactional law. From , he worked for Hawes & Fischer, in Newport Beach, California, facilitating growth of its entertainment law practice, and negotiating and drafting software development, multimedia, and music agreements. In 2000, he joined the law firm of Gallagher, Callahan, and Gartrell, where he remains an of counsel member of the firm. He has extensive practice experience in the areas of entertainment law, business planning, copyright, software licensing, data privacy and security, and trademark law.
