5 Campus Closure and Evacuation NON-ROUTINE CAMPUS CLOSURE Coverage of Clinical Services. The Department s policy regarding coverage of clinical services during non-routine campus closures requires faculty and trainees to cover, or arrange for coverage of, both outpatient and hospital-based clinical services. Each clinician must arrange coverage for any obligated services he/she is unable to provide. Clinical staff are expected to provide support as needed either onsite or from off campus. It is important to anticipate and prepare for the effects of bad weather on outpatient schedules. Clinicians and clinical support staff should plan to have sufficient information on patients to verify schedules and to prepare for the necessity of cancellations in the event the campus is closed. Departmental Emergency Contact List. All areas should have current copies of the Departmental Emergency Contact list ( Telephone Tree ). Please print this document for your information to take with you in anticipation of non-routine campus closings. Do not post in public areas. Please note the person(s) you are responsible to contact. If you do not talk to or receive a response from the person(s) you are required to contact, you are then responsible for contacting the people the unreachable person(s) should have contacted. EMERGENCY EVACUATION PROCEDURES Williams Pavilion, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (Be sure to take emergency kits which are stored in each area.) Designated Evacuation Locations (once on location, check in with designated person from your area)* Fire: Second Floor, Bird Library (do not use elevators to exit Williams Pavilion) Severe Weather: Tunnel between Basic Sciences Medical Building and the Bird Library Bomb Threat: College of Dentistry Building *In case of severe weather after 6:00 pm, go to the center hallway in the lowest level of the Williams Pavilion. Evacuation of Ambulatory Persons: Evacuate the building through the nearest available exit that is safe to use Shut doors but do not lock them Walk to designated location (see above) Sign in when you arrive Evacuation of Non-Ambulatory Persons: Go to the northwest stairwell in the Williams Pavilion where firefighters and other support personnel will assist going down the stairs OR by elevator if it can be done safely. Do not use elevators if fire is suspected. Use the southwest stairwell if the northwest stairwell is inaccessible. Emergency Telephone: Non-Emergency Police/Fire:
