1 I'd like to welcome everybody to this training event. We're going to be discussing something extremely foundational, one of the most important topics that anybody in a home business could learn, use and master. If you're in a situation where you're just getting started in your business and you don't necessarily have a large budget to go out and generate leads but yet the life blood of any business is leads, good quality leads. The more you get the better your chances of succeeding highly. The more you get for the least amount of money the chances of success go up even higher, lower risk more reward. Today, what we're going to be discussing is exactly how to do that, how to start from a bootstrap budget and grow your business for little to nothing using a few techniques I call simple lead magnet systems that anyone can use. I've been using them for years. They're great, exceptionally great. Once we go through these blueprints what you'll see, is not only are they pretty much guaranteed ways if you just follow along with the steps I'm going to give you here to get leads without even needing a website, they're just plain smart strategies to use to grow your business. Why? Because they work in leverage. You do the work once and years later you still reap the rewards. One of the things that you may have seen in finding your way to this event was some of my own stats. What you might have seen is that some of these lead magnets, one of these strategies that we're going to go through and set up some of these lead magnets in So now here in 2009, four years later, doing the work once in 2005 they're still bringing traffic and leads to my business. If we're going to do the work we might as well do the work smart, we might as well do the work once and let it pave the way for our success for years to come, and it s just a smart way to go. What I want to step back and say is I'm excited about this particular training because I got a lot of questions that came 1

2 in from everyone that decided to attend. I've gone through them all and I'm going to be answering them in the context of our training right now. One of the most important questions that I got asked and asked over and over again is how do I get good quality highly responsive leads for free? That's a very good question. One of the topics we're going to be discussing is what that idea of responsiveness is. It's a very important topic to discuss and it's a very important concept to understand. In fact, if you understand that concept after we get through that piece of our training it will guide your decisions as to whether or not you're going to use free or paid lead generation towards success. You ll immediately be able to realize which types of traffic are more likely to bring you responsive leads in a real sense, not a hype sense, not the service sense where you go to a lead company and you see on the website we have super hot solar flare sort of responsive leads, just because they say so. There are real driving factors behind what responsiveness is and guess what? It has nothing to do with how much you pay. Free or paid leads it doesn't matter; get as many as you can. This training in a foundational sense is for those people just starting. Everything we go through I'm going to be discussing in a building block sort of format. We're going to build on each piece and by the time we get out of here you're going to be able to get out there and start getting leads as early as tonight. Let me go through a couple of expectations. I gave you the first expectation, I expect that after we get finished with this training that you are going to have the skills, the capacities, the knowledge - no hype, just strategies that flat out work and have worked for years and I have shared and helped many in my own teams, my own home businesses use to thrive and grow. 2

3 You're going to be very well off with the sort of experience based instruction you're going to get by the time you get out of here. We only have a limited amount of time so some of the questions that I was asked, things like how to do pay-per-click marketing, how do I set up a website, how do I create a lead capture page; these sorts of questions are not going to be answered in this particular session because they are outside of the scope of what we're talking about. We're talking about going straight to the heart of the matter, let's go get some leads that are going to be great quality based on what real responsiveness is all about and use those leads to grow our business without even having a website. We're not talking about anything paid, we're talking about extremely low risk because they're free things that you can get out there and do immediately. The good news for you guys that have asked about those particular topics is there's going to be a series of trainings and we're going to get into each of these topics in due time. Like I said this training itself is a building block sort of process, so are each of the trainings that are done progressively, they're each going to build on each other. At the end of the training series you will be a heavy hitter. You'll be the type of person that can absolutely push a button and recruit hundreds, maybe even thousands of people in a single click. My largest success so far has been a two week campaign that brought in 16,000 people. I didn't talk to anybody I just said hey here's this thing, you may want to look at it, it may be a good idea and poof, 16,000 people said yes, I think you might be right. That's the sort of position I want to put you in and that's the sort of position we're going to build into. We start now with the very basics, the foundations. I used to wrestle in high school and middle school. I find - this is kind of funny that I bring this up - the way that I was taught to 3

4 wrestle and the way that I thought about getting good at wrestling is very applicable to what we do as entrepreneurs. What drives your level of success is your passion. In high school I had a certain goal I wanted to achieve. I wanted to be what was called All Met, get my picture in the Washington Post as one of the best wrestlers here in the Washington D.C. area and by no means when I had that dream at the beginning was there any glimmer or any insight, maybe this kid's got a chance to be the best. I think my freshman year in high school I won four matches and lost 17 or 18. I had a big mountain to climb but what I did have is I had a goal. I had a role model. There was a senior on our team when I was a freshman, a guy by the name of Eugene. He was All Met that year and I just wanted to emulate everything that this guy was about. He went out there and won his matches and at the end of the year ended up being one of the best. I wanted to be like this guy. I had a dream, I had a role model to emulate and it was off to the races. How did I go from being not very good to being pretty darn good and actually achieving my goal by the time I was a senior in high school? Focused determination, focused passion towards that goal - who knows why I wanted to do it I wanted to do it though - and constant action. These same exact things apply to everything you do in your business. For me at least wrestling really does correlate highly to the home business system. In wrestling if you learn the foundational basics you don't have to be somebody that knows all the moves under the sun, all the new techniques, all the things that make you look great but aren't necessary. If you have a good foundation in the basics you're in good standing to win. If you can take a guy down in wrestling, you've got one way to take him down and be good at it. If you can stand up if you're taken down or if you can defend yourself greatly from the takedown and be really hard to take down yourself that's all you need to succeed. 4

5 It's the same thing here in your business, foundational skills. If you can get leads and that's what today's training is all about, if you can get leads, if you can then convert leads and you can train leads you can grow a very large business. You don't have to know everything about everything you just have to be good at those foundational things. We have our path. I've told you a little bit about my past as a young kid wanting to be a high school wrestler so let's go through the outline. We're going to talk about these things I called lead magnets. The first thing I'm going to describe to you is what a lead magnet is, what do I mean by that? It's pretty self explanatory but I'm going to go ahead and flesh it out a little bit. To give you a little bit more background on myself and network marketing and the home business arena and just direct marketing we're going to talk a little bit more about attaining the proper mindset for success in an online world. We're going to talk about the idea of leverage. Where is the real leverage in your business? You don't need a website to succeed and get leads in your business; you don't. That's kind of a little fancy. In due time there's a place for it but it's not necessary at the beginning but there is one thing that you do need so we're going to go into a detailed discussion on that. Once we've got that foundation laid out we're going to move right into our two simple lead magnet systems. We've got a litany of things to discuss to make sure you know everything you need to know and with each of these two strategies at the end of each I'm going to give you a simple task to do on a daily basis. If you follow that task you will far exceed the 15 lead per day limit that I set for free. We'll take some time to summarize and we'll do some closing thoughts. Strap in, you may want to listen to this thing a couple times so that it all sinks in, so that you get it. 5

6 Take your time. The most important thing at the beginning is to learn the proper principles. I wish when I began I had someone who had kind of been through the situation I wanted to go through but I didn't in the way that I needed it and I'm just happy that I can lay that path for you. Before I get into a little bit about that sort of my background let me talk to you about what a lead magnet is. A lead magnet, what's a magnet? A magnet is something that attracts the opposite, it attracts other metals. It attracts what you're looking for. A magnet attracts something, okay? That's the only concept you need to get about this idea of a magnet. What's a lead? We know what a lead is; someone who has an interest, who has raised their hand and said yes, I'd like to know more about that. All a lead magnet is something that you lay out there online and once it's sat out it continues to bring and attract leads from there on out. You do the work once and it continues to work from there on out If you can understand that you're in good standing to use this information and use it well. Let me give you a little bit of background on myself. I started network marketing back in It makes sense. I told you I did some of these lead magnets, set up some of these lead magnets back then and they're still rocking along cranking out leads for me today. This skill that we're going to talk about was one of the first I learned once I got things right. I found my way into the network marketing arena not unlike a lot of other people. I had a job that I just didn't see myself - out of college I got a decent job I just didn't see myself doing that particular job for the rest of my life. You start to think about how can I take control? I don t want to be a slave to my wages. The thing that really made me kind of look harder, take action, try to find ways to free myself from that situation is I 6

7 remember I woke up one morning, it was about six months into my first job out of college so maybe this hit me a little quicker than it hit some. I remember waking up, going to take a shower and midway through my shower I realized that every single day that I'd had my job I'd basically done the exact same thing. I asked myself, what's this going to look like 10 years from now? Yes, maybe I'll have a slight pay raise and maybe have one more week of vacation but what else is going to be different? Nothing. The answer that came back to my mind was absolutely nothing and that scared the heck out of me, it wasn't what I wanted to do. It forced me to take action. One of the first things I did is I just started to learn about creating wealth, independently creating wealth and I came across the idea of real estate. We hear about this idea of real estate, a lot of us hear about it because we all know somebody at least here in the states that oh, did you hear about him? He's selling houses and he's making money, but we hear about it more so because you turn on the TV late at night and on comes a real estate infomercial. That's the first thing that attracted me. I started to buy books and I started to learn more about what I needed to get done to get into that sort of a business and that did lead to me actually getting into buying a small apartment building which I wouldn't recommend to anyone unless it's really what they want to do. Rental property is a hard business to get into and a hard business to really make money in. Network marketing, home business arena, information marketing online is much more flexible, much more powerful, and much better choices. Walking down this real estate dream that I thought I had at the time I ended up going to a seminar. I remember I wasn t too impressed with the actual real estate talk or whatever was going on, how to get grant money to buy apartment buildings I think is what it was about. 7

8 It's kind of funny in life how things that you don't expect have a way of finding their way into your path and really changing who you are, completely changing your path. It was while at this real estate conference that I had the first insight into what I might get into and enjoy doing. At the end of the real estate talk a little short fat bald guy got up on stage and started to talk about this thing called the Internet. He said that there were people just like me, regular old folks, out there making a living online. He was just incredibly passionate about this idea, had tons of visual proof. I remember he had one image; it was an image of a horse, a website where he had a picture of a horse and a link below it. I'll pretty much remember this for the rest of my life. He said do you see this page? His forehead was dripping with sweat, he was kind of shaking, and he was really impassioned with this idea of taking control through the Internet. Do you see this page? This page right here makes me $1,500 a month. If I can do that with this so can you. For whatever reason I believed the guy. My jaw dropped quite honestly. I had no idea what this Internet thing was all about, I thought it was just a place to go search out funny stuff and do research for papers. That's all I'd really used it for before. Here was this whole new world opening to me. The first thing I did when I got back home from that seminar - you guessed it - I went online and I just started looking around for how to make money on the Internet. I started buying courses and testing things and trying things and losing a lot of money fast. In fact, this isn't actually in our agenda but it just came to mind and I think it's important in terms of mindset which we're going to talk about in just a minute. When I first got online I got excited about this idea, I went into massive information acquisition, buying anything and everything I could, trying it all, but I had no success. 8

9 Every now and then I would make a commission on something here or there and I'd get a little check for $15 or $20 and it was cool. It was just amazing that someone I didn't know all the way across the world somewhere bought something because I put an ad out there and I'd made a little bit of money, far less than I'd spent to create that little sale but that was the lesson for me later. It gave me the positive reinforcement that I needed to move forward. I didn't really have success myself until I learned something and it's a simple idea. If there's one thing you get from this portion of the training please let it be this because this is what I see most people struggling with. When I speak with people personally and I ask them, what are you doing? They'll say here's what I've tried, here's what I'm doing. I'll say, what would you like me to help you with? I'd like you to help me - and normally it's a very pointed question. Tell me how to get a ton of leads for absolutely free that immediately join my business and make me a ton of money today. Have you tried this? Have you tried that? No. The next thing I'll say is well, tell me; what is it that you really want to do? Most people are stumped by this. I was too; I was just out there trying everything. Until you can answer that question you're going to have a tough time succeeding. It's the focused discipline on one end, one result, one goal that really does end up changing people's lives. You have to have one thing that you're going after, it lights the path. For me that thing - you guessed it - it became Internet network marketing. 9

10 I had to go through some steps to get there. First I tried traditional network marketing, buying and calling leads, I spent tons of money and recruited nobody, got yelled at and all that stuff, maybe you're familiar with it. I always had this idea in the back of my head because the first thing I was introduced to was the Internet. I wanted to make this stuff work online. It wasn't until I made the decision in my mind that this is what I was going to do, this was going to be the group of people I was going to serve, this was the task that I was going to master and the person that I was going to be to this particular group of people - it wasn't until I had the concrete vision of the path down that road, and I had a good feeling for it. I'll tell you this, and it's embarrassing I guess to say this, I remember I would drive around when I was going to work and I would say to myself - I'm going to become an Internet network marketing millionaire. I'd be screaming it as I'm driving in my car. People would look over and they probably thought I was crazy and I probably am a little bit. I would just repeat this and get myself so excited about it. I would say I'm going to become a millionaire by helping people become financially independent and I would just say it over and over and over again. Was I there? Was I doing that at that point? No, but I knew that was what I wanted to do. Until you know as a matter of fact what it is you want to do and you have that good feeling inside and that good feeling drives you and you can't stop thinking about getting there then you're going to struggle. The first thing to get right is what you do, who you are, who you're going to be and who you're going to serve. Have a good feeling about why you want to do it. Once you have that, things start to fall into place. For me it fell in place in this way. After getting out of a business that wasn't succeeding because I wasn t good at calling leads and talking to them on the phone I went back and I studied marketing in general. What was working in marketing online? 10

11 What would I need in a business? These are the questions I had to ask and answer for myself once I knew what I wanted to be. What sort of a marketing system in a business would I want to have to set myself up for success? I went about researching and finding the answers to those questions and then luckily or serendipitously lead magnet system number one caught me. If a free traffic or lead generation system ends up catching me and creating a ton of people in a business for free and someone else did this to me, I say well heck, if it's going to work on me it's going to work on other people. I found this business, I got involved and I just went at it. No one would tell me I couldn't succeed. I improvised, I did everything I possibly could and we just kept on growing. To this day I still get four or five checks every month from the company and everyday new people join. It's kind of interesting to see, I haven't looked at the genealogy report in awhile and it's because I put in about a year and a half of really intense effort and learned a lot of good lessons. That was my path. Since doing that I've created several funded proposal systems, I've created several products. One of the things I would say is my specialty, one of the things I pride myself on being pretty good at is this thing of lead generation, paid, free, tried and true solutions. On a typical day it's not uncommon for my business to generate over 1,000 leads. It's not even uncommon, I don't even bat an eye if I have a day where 2,700 leads come through the funnel in an automated fashion, it doesn't matter what I m doing, just because of the systems that I set up. In other words if lead generation is something you really want to master I'm a good person to listen to in this particular age that we're in. Today is your first step into my world of how to do this stuff right and I think you're going to like it. 11

12 That's kind of a little bit of background on me. When it comes to getting leads you're in good hands when you're talking to Daegan. Let's talk a little bit about mindset. What you see, there's a right and a wrong mindset when it comes to this whole home business thing. The wrong mindset is very easy to see because it's plastered across the Internet all over the place 1,000 different times and 1,000 different ways. The easiest place to see it is in the sort of videos you'll see on You Tube that home business entrepreneurs will put out there. If you ever come across a video and the first thing you do when you click on the button to watch that video is the person says oh wow, thank you so much for watching my video. That is a person that has the wrong mindset for success. You can't thank a person for something before they've done it. It always makes me laugh and I never watch the actual video when someone thanks me for watching a video I didn't even watch yet, because it comes off as they're surprised that I even made it there. Wow, this is kind of working. I did this as well; this is what I would call trying to nice people into your business, when I was calling leads. I would try to befriend people, be their best buddy and I would think that was going to help my business grow. Seven plus thousand dollars of credit card debt and four or five hours a day on the phone and all day on Saturday calling leads and not one person joined so, being nice to people doesn't necessarily work. That would be the wrong way. The right way, the right mindset for recruiting online, offline and in general is to qualify your prospects at every step you possibly can. In fact, the pickier you are about who you will let in your business the higher your chances of being successful. 12

13 If you try to nice people what that actually does is it repels people. If you set up qualifications on how people can get access to you and how they may possibly have an opportunity to work with you what you've just done is said I value my time, I'm willing to work with certain people, but I'm not going to waste my time with certain people that aren't going to pull their part of the bargain. Good business builders are attracted to this. People looking for leadership as well are attracted to this. You do it the wrong way you repel people, you do it the right way and you attract people. The pickier you are the better and in fact, a good tip here is something you might want to do is you may want to take a step back and say Who would be the ideal person for me to work with? What characteristics do they have? Are they analytical? Are they highly impassioned? Are they a person that doesn't mind spending tons of money? Are they people that have had success before? What type of person is this? What's their goal? Is this a person that's driven by making lots of money? Is this a person that's driven by freedom? Close your eyes and envision the perfect person to work with you and it's going to be different for each of us in our own businesses and write that down. One simple thing you can do, this is a simple strategy just for mindset, is before you even speak to someone who you may let into your business you may want to have them fill out a survey, answer questions where you're basically qualifying them based on who you want to work with. What drives you? How many hours are you willing to work? What would be something that would completely stop you and make you give up? 13

14 Before you speak to a person or set an appointment or however you're going to recruit them, especially at the beginning you want to be picky and really choose the right people to work with. The more that you make them qualify themselves the more you learn about them and the more what happens in that situation, the more they're actually selling themselves to you. If you have to prove to another person why you're the right candidate you're selling yourself. Let your prospects sell themselves to you. Put them through an application process. If they're not right don't choose them, just let them go. Have no fear of loss. There's always another lead. That's another big thing that people get caught up in. I'm not going to spend much time on it, but if you view your world as a world full of competition or a world full of scarcity, I only have XYZ number of leads. I have to make this work or else something bad is going to happen, I'm going to run out of money or somebody is going to yell at me or whatever it might be, you're going about this whole thing with the wrong mindset. You've got to think in terms of abundance. The way you allow yourself to think in terms of abundance is to realize that there are more leads in the world than you could possibly deal with and your task is to master getting them. I've gone from generating a few leads a day to thousands of leads a day these days and I've never once thought about competition. I just think about how can I get some more? That's the right way to go about it. When you have that mindset if someone doesn't fit who you may want to join your business you have no problems letting them go because there are 100 more. That's the position you want to get yourself in. With that said let's talk about points of leverage in your business. Where's the real leverage in your home business? 14

15 One of the biggest mistakes that I see a lot of home business entrepreneurs having on this particular point is they think as I did, they get extremely enamored by things like the compensation plan. They'll look at the compensation plan of their business and they'll say to themselves; wow, if I just get three people and they just get three, I just help them get three, and then they get three - man I'm going to make a ton of money. This is the best compensation plan ever. You focus on that compensation plan and that being like the most empowering point of leverage in your business. Here's how you know. Most network marketers when you talk to them the first thing they want to talk to you about is their compensation plan and why it's the best compensation plan in the world. The truth is, even if it is who cares? What matters - and this is another one of those truths that you have to get now - what matters is not the size of your compensation plan or how robust your compensation plan is, it's the will you can exert to get people into that compensation plan. You can change nothing at all about what the actual compensation plan is but what you can have an effect on is how are the circumstances and the amount of people that you put into it. That is totally in your control that is the true point of leverage. That is this idea of leads and that's why this entire skill is so foundationally important. If you master the art of getting leads then don't matter what compensation plan you're working with you're going to have success. I've had success with low tier businesses. I've had success with high tier businesses and everything in between. I've had success with mostly online related business opportunities. I've had success with putting people into more traditional business opportunities. Why? Because I know how to get leads. I know how to develop a relationship with people that are thinking like me and I know how to lead. 15

16 If you can focus all your efforts on those tasks and forget about the compensation plan what you're going to find at the end of the day is that any compensation plan you so choose you'll fill it at a whim. I remember what I used to try to do to grow my business, the hours I would spend and the mental turmoil I would go through. It seems like today the difference is I can wave my little pinky finger and up pops 100 people in my down line. It's not because the compensation plan is so good, not because the business product or service is so good, it's because I master everything that's in my control and that's everything that comes before the compensation plan. I suggest you should as well. Leads and using , that's the second part of this point of leverage. If you can master the art of you can grow any business you want, flat out. That's just as true as truth goes. Why? Because it's the ultimate point of leverage for you. It doesn't cost any more to send an to 100 people than it does to send to 10 people, but if you send an and you have a subscriber base of 100 people your maximum response of people that could say yes is 100 as opposed to if you only have 10; your maximum response is 10. It doesn't take you any longer to develop a relationship because you're developing the relationship by doing a simple one time task; writing an or something related to communication. It's a very powerful point of leverage. You master and you can build whatever business you want, I guarantee it. The other powerful thing about is it's all about relationship. My mom sends me s and those s are the same sort of s we use when we market. We talk to our friends and family through , it's how we carry on communication with friends, family and things of this nature online. It's no different. If you can master relationship through your chance of success, the ease of you being successful online in any sort of business you want goes up even further. 16

17 The third reason why is so important is because it instantly catapults you to a position of authority. Even if you don't know it and even if the people on the other end don't know it they know it intuitively. Here's what I mean; when you call a lead on the phone you are not viewed as an authority you're viewed as somebody they don't know that is cold calling them. That's not a very powerful position to be in. On the other hand if someone finds you, decides to join your list and then begins to open the s that you send them they now see you as the authority whether they realize it or not. You're like the teacher at the front of the room and they're the students raising their hands, by simply being the person distributing the communication you take on authority status. That's a very powerful thing when it comes to recruiting and persuasion. is a very powerful thing, master , master lead generation and you can grow any business you so choose. These are the main points of leverage that you should concern yourself with not any compensation plan or what particular type of business you get into. That's another question I got asked a bunch is what's the best business for me to get in right now to be successful? To me it doesn't matter, it does not matter. If you master everything that comes before the compensation plan choose the business that fits you. The best answer to that question is what business gets you excited? Whatever that one is, is the best one for you to be in. You can use for any sort of business. That's leverage. We talked about let's talk about the next foundational step in terms of . We're getting leads and we're sending out s, what's the engine behind all of this? We don't need a website, we don't 17

18 need lead capture pages but there is one tool that we must have online if we want to have maximum leverage and we want to be successful in the long-term. That one tool is called an autoresponder. Maybe it's something you've heard of before. An autoresponder is simply a program that stores your leads and allows you to communicate with them either automatically through a series of what are called autoresponder messages or all at once with one message through a function called a broadcast message. It lets you speak to everybody at once or it lets you speak to everybody over the course of time without you even being there. It's one of the most powerful tools that I think the marketing world has ever really invented. Now that you know that, now that you understand what an autoresponder is, there's one key factor that you should consider in terms of choosing an autoresponder. It's a concept called deliverability. The only thing that matters about an autoresponder, is when you send a message it gets to the end recipient's inbox. In this world there are all kinds of spam filters and it's tough to get an through. One of the key things you should look at is what is the deliverability rate of the autoresponder you choose? If there's any one thing you want to make sure you look into it is that factor. If you've got 100 leads and your autoresponder has a deliverability percentage of 80% deliverability that's like you got 100 leads, but you've really only got 80 because not all 100 of them are going to get that message. If your autoresponder has a 99% deliverability rate now you're really talking. What matters with autoresponders is getting the message to the end recipient. There's lots of autoresponders out there. There are a lot of places to get them. There's one thing that you should know when 18

19 making the decision, when debating which autoresponder you should get. Where do you get an autoresponder? There are lots of them out there, but there's also a few big ones and I actually have an account with all of them. I'll explain to you why because this is another important factor. There's AWeber that's a big one. There's Aweber.com, GetResponse.com of course and another called 1ShoppingCart.com. I have accounts with all three. I think you're good to go with any of them, but you must have an autoresponder. It is the one essential tool you must have in this entire game if you want to be successful in a highly leveraged way. Any one of those three and you're good to go. The reason why I have an account with all three, and this is important when you think about your decision here and a question I get asked a lot. People will ask me, they'll say well Daegan, I've got all these leads that I bought from these lead companies just sitting on my computer, can I get an autoresponder and can I just put these leads in my autoresponder? With a good autoresponder that is absolutely not possible. What the reason why I have three autoresponders and the reason why that's not possible, is because in order for an autoresponder to keep their deliverability rate high, they have to make sure that only people that are proactively requesting information are being added as members of that list. If you just upload some unknown lead source to an autoresponder you've just jeopardized the entire operation of that business and autoresponders, they know that deliverability is what counts and that's the one thing they care about. You can't do things like that and the other thing that leads to is once you build a list in one place that's where it stays. When you choose an autoresponder understand when you start building a list that's where that list is going to be. I've got lists in different places for different reasons and I keep the autoresponders open because I've got lists there. 19

20 Choose the one you like best just understand that's the one you're going to be sticking with for a long time. Costs involved - how much do autoresponders cost? Autoresponders are not incredibly expensive. They're at most $20 to get started and so that's really the only hard cost for you to incur. A lot of autoresponders have a free trial period for you to get used to them. Choose one that you like, go out, mess around with it and $20 gets you in the game. That's all you need to spend, the rest of this stuff is free. In terms of autoresponders though there's a couple of key functions you must master and both of them are incredibly simple. Here's how to use your autoresponder; one, you have to know how to create what's called an autoresponder series. What is that? It's a series of messages that you create and then you set to go out over an interval. Maybe you set the first message to go out on day one and the second message to go out on day three and the third message to go out on day eight, etc. whatever you so choose. You start driving leads to that autoresponder and on day one every lead that comes in day one is their day one and day three they get the second message and day eight they get the third message. There's really not much more to an autoresponder series than that from a technical standpoint. The other key function of an autoresponder is the ability to broadcast. Sending out a broadcast message means it s more like a one time event. You write a special and you want everybody on your mailing list to get it at the exact same time, so you write the message, set it to go out at XYZ date, click submit and that's when it goes out that's a broadcast message. The question that may come to mind is okay there are these two ways to do this, which one is better? Which one should I use more? 20

21 It's going to depend on your own personality somewhat but with our business model, with the sort of relationship that the home business arena caters to I think you'll find yourself once you become more advanced at using the broadcast function more. Because, just by its very nature of being a timely message - hey today I got up early and I decided to go for a fun and while I was on that run I talked about blah-blah you can do that as an autoresponder message. But, there's this innate real quality when you actually do it in real time that really counts a lot when it comes to creating a relationship. I tend to use the broadcast function predominantly in my own business, because there's just something magical about a real time message going out as opposed to just a series of autoresponders. Again it's going to be up to you and your personality. Let me give you a few basic writing tips before we move on and we start talking about our lead magnet systems. Just key important ideas when writing autoresponder messages. First, you don't get points for great grammar all you have to do is communicate an idea. In fact, the more simple you can make that idea the shorter the sentences. The smaller the paragraphs, breaking up the paragraphs and doing what are called hard line breaks, so every 40 characters you start a new line - that makes your message much more consumable. You're going to want to use short sentences, easy to understand words, short paragraphs, a few sentences and between paragraphs put a space, so everything is broken up, it's little chunks, it's easy to get through and you're going to want to do a hard line break at say 40 characters or so, or 65, you choose a number. It's not incredibly important but you want to make it so your is bite sized chunks. I do a 40 character line break and the way that I actually write s - maybe this is good to go into for you to understand. 21

22 Every single I write, here's how I do it. I first go into Microsoft Word and I write the then what I do is I copy and paste it and I use a program called Note Tab. You can find Note Tab by going to Google and just doing a search, it's a free tool. I copy and paste my after I've done all my halfway spell checking. If you've gotten an from me you'll see I don't always get perfect, I don't always write with perfect grammar or spell everything correctly, it's more important to just get the message out. If you're a grammar nut, by all means make it perfect, but it doesn't have to be. The message just has to come through. I copy and paste the message into Note Tab. You can go to Google, search for Note Tab, download it, it's free and then there's a portion in Note Tab where you can set the line breaks and you set the line break where you want and you click the button marked split and poof, your message now is autoresponder ready. Copy and paste it from Note Tab directly into my autoresponder and I'm good to go. That's how I do it. You could write your autoresponder message directly into your autoresponder it's up to you. That's how I do it, I use this tool called Note Tab and you can use it too if you'd like. Now that we've been through the basics we've kind of created this foundation. We know the right mindset. We understand the basic idea of what a lead magnet system is. You've learned a little bit about me going back to wrestling and how that affects my business. You've learned about how I found the home business arena and the Internet. We've talked about the points of leverage, where the real points of leverage are, lead generation, relationship building. We've talked about the one tool you must have, an autoresponder, and we've gone through all the different aspects that are important with an autoresponder and even some examples of which ones you could choose. 22

23 We're ready to get into our two simple lead magnet systems. The first lead magnet system is the one I alluded to at the very beginning of this. I told you that in between my first failure in network marketing and my first success I kind of studied up on what marketing was and what kind of a business I wanted to have that would allow me to grow the way I wanted to grow, without having to create things myself. There I was and it was an affiliate marketing forum and I was reading a post that, I don't know, I think I was just trying to learn something about lead generation most likely in those days. I saw this guy's post and I clicked on a link in this thing he had called a signature file. I saw this business opportunity on the other side of it. I subsequently joined of my own volition and because this guy spent a couple of minutes, two or three minutes, to make a post in this thing called a forum he found me. Because he found me, not that I knew I would do this, even if you had told me this at the time I would've said you're freaking crazy. Because he found me now he has over 84,000 some odd people in his down line from making a simple free post in a forum. Hopefully that proves that this thing called forum marketing, this is our first simple lead magnet system, is powerful. You can find winners. In fact, some of the people that have stuck to my teams the longest have been people I found in forums. I told you I was going to talk about this topic of lead responsiveness. Let's get to that right now because that ties in exactly to why some of the best people I've found for my business have come from forums. Responsiveness has nothing to do, absolutely nothing at all to do with where a lead comes from in the sense of if that person came from a TV commercial, if they came from the Internet or if they came from a print ad. 23

24 Responsiveness in terms of lead quality, it's not really something that you can buy in the sense of go to a lead company, say hey I want home business leads that are going to join my business and just get responsive leads. They'll try to sell you them because that's what we want, we want people that are more prone to join our business but what they sell us is more expensive lead generation methods because it costs them more to generate the TV lead. They call it super hot and solar flare responsive and charge us $12 per lead but really at the end of the day is it a better lead? Maybe or maybe not. Here's where responsiveness really comes into play. Here's what responsiveness really is. It has nothing to do with where you bought your lead; it has everything to do with what's going on in the mind of the person who could potentially become a prospect for you. Here's what I mean. For instance, let me take myself. I am constantly thinking of new ways to generate leads. I m always going in my mind and thinking about what I'm doing and how I can improve it and because of this, this is a constant thing I think about day in and day out and I'm on several people's mailing lists, to get tips, to learn additional strategy, maybe to get one insight that I hadn't thought of. Whenever someone sends out a new product that has to do with lead generation and it's something I think could help me you better bet I'm buying it. Responsiveness has to do with how attached to a particular subject your prospect, the person on the other end actually is. If it's a person that's constantly thinking about say network marketing they're much more likely to be responsive. Let me give you a couple of examples about how responsiveness plays out. Maybe you've heard of pay-per-click marketing. Those are those little ads that you see on the right hand side of Google. Payper-click marketing is a fantastic traffic and lead generation strategy but does it generate the most responsive leads available? 24

25 No, it doesn't. It's a great strategy to use, I use it and I think everyone should be using it at the right time for themselves in their business but understand that you're not going to get the most responsive leads. Why? Think about the person that's searching in a pay-per-click search engine. On a whim, when was the last time you searched for something? I want to learn more about binary compensation plans. I go into a quick Google search and maybe I click on one of the Google ads and then I'm off to search for something different. I'm not really engaged in binary compensation plans much. I'm a little bit intrigued by it, but I'm kind of checking out a bunch of different stuff and I'm not really tied in there. I'm a little bit responsive because I am interested and curious. Let's take a different person. Let's say a person is totally excited and really focused on growing their network marketing business online and they proactively seek out a newsletter. They join a newsletter that shares Internet marketing tips. What that person has now done is they proactively sought out strategies to help them grow their business and then they proactively put themselves in a position where they will constantly get new information on that particular subject matter. They're always thinking and they're always open to new ideas about that particular subject. That's a pretty darn responsive person. If you can find a network marketing newsletter and you put your ad for something network marketing related in it you have a pretty darn good chance of having good response, having a very responsive - having a good response rate come your way. We don't have time in this particular training to go through the entire process of newsletter marketing but in general if you find a good newsletter you can find a place that you can go to over and over again that will give you highly responsive leads. 25

26 It's one of the most powerful ways to generate responsive leads, because people are so entrenched in their own minds, they put themselves into this information acquisition stream through that newsletter. That's where responsiveness is, in the mindset of the prospect. We win when we get in front of the most responsive prospects. Let's get back to forum marketing, that's why we started to talk about responsiveness. Out there online what are forums? Forums are places that people hang out and talk about things that they like. There are forums on real estate. There are forums on losing weight. There are forums on getting big and muscular - you name it and there's a forum. There are forums on network marketing. There are forums for home businesses and there are forums on Internet marketing. There are forums on all this kind of stuff. Don't you think the people that proactively go hang out in forums related to say network marketing or Internet marketing or starting a home business have a fairly good chance of being pretty darn responsive? I would say so. They've even taken it a step farther. A newsletter person has put themselves proactively in a stream of constant knowledge acquisition on a particular subject matter; but a person in a niche forum say a network marketing forum, has taken it to the next level. Not only do they want constant information but they want to talk about it all day. That's a pretty darn responsive prospect. I was asked several times how do I find responsive prospects; forum is one darn good way now that you understand this idea of responsiveness. You understand that that's how I got recruited by a guy I never met and he's got a gigantic team below him now and it's where I found some of the best people on my teams as well. If it worked on me and it's worked for me it will work for you. How do you find forums? That s probably the next good question to answer. 26

27 Forums are pretty easy to find. You go to Google, you type in something like network marketing, a plus sign and the word forum, you type in something like MLM the plus sign and the word forum, search for the results that come up and you're going to find some forums. In fact, I'm going to give you a little cheat sheet really quick. Three of my favorite forums I used to do the strategy I'm about to share with you all the time is there's one called Mlm.com, they've got a forum. There's a forum called The Warrior Forum and there's another one called RichDad.com or RichDadForums.com. If you do a Google search you'll find it. These are great forums. I've recruited people in all these places; I think you can do the same. You should go and proactively seek out your own as well but I wanted to kind of give you that jumpstart. Just doing a little quick Google search you're going to find good forums that you can go into and do marketing as we describe right now. How do we generate leads in forums? First we talk about how forums work. The way forums work, is what you want to be on the look out for when you're looking at forums are forums where people are just chatting up a storm. You go and you look at what people are talking about right now and then you go back 20 minutes later and three more people have already responded to the top five threads. That's probably a place you want to hang out. If you go to a forum and it looks like someone hasn't posted in that forum in a few days or the last live post that was made in there was a week ago it's a waste of your time. You want to find forums where people are participating and hanging out all the time, and that's where you want to hang out. The way that you start the process of lead generation in forums is you simply participate. You create an account. When you 27
