(partial box). : ADMINISTRATIVE HISTORY OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROGRAM The Minnesota Criminal Justice Program, a section of the state s Planning Agency, is one of fifty-two Statistical Analysis Centers across the United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Mariana Islands funded by the federal Bureau of Justice Statistics. The program s mission is to collect and analyze data relating to crime and the justice system, provide accurate information and analysis on emerging and critical issues, and support informed policy decisions through long-range planning. The program succeeded the Crime Control Planning Board in 1981 [Laws 1981 c356] and has been known by several names, including the Criminal Justice Statistical Analysis Center, Criminal Justice Center, and Criminal Justice Statistics Center. Effective August 1, 2003, the program was transferred to the Public Safety Department [Laws 1st Sp. Sess c2 art4 sec5-6]. SCOPE AND CONTENTS OF THE RECORDS The records include reports with information on juvenile justice, serious offenders, sexual abuse, and the state s jails.
