4 I accepted the nomination to be a candidate for the AARC Delegate position for the VSRC because I believe my years of practice (42 and counting!), and long association with the VSRC, provides me with a unique perspective. My professional practice as a Respiratory Therapist has afforded me the opportunity to participate in this profession as a student, clinical practitioner, colleague, educator, facilitator, and multi-disciplinary team member. Each of these roles has enhanced my understanding of the profession of Respiratory Therapy as well as the role of the profession within the larger health care industry. My demonstrated commitment to the profession and many years of dedicated service to the VSRC qualifies me to serve responsibly in this role. I am honored to have been nominated for this position. If elected, I will responsibly represent the members of the VSRC to the best of my abilities. Edward P. Robinson Jr. RRT-NPS, RPFT Job Title: Staff Therapist, Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital 2012-present, Staff Therapist Supervisor, RT Team coordinator, Sentara Leigh Hospital Director Respiratory Care Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, , Director Respiratory Care, Lake Taylor Hospital Norfolk State University , Tidewater Community College RT Program Over the last 2 decades: Current VSRC Tidewater District Director, VSRC Past President, VSRC Public Relations Chairman, VSRC Spring Program Chairman (VSRC Symposium by the Sea committee chairman) As a Respiratory Therapist with over 38 years of experience in acute and sub acute care, and over 20 years experience as a RT manager, I feel that we have arrived at a crossroads in the profession. What will the profession look like 5 years from now? Will changes in Medicare, Medicaid reimbursement force health care providers to reevaluate how they deliver respiratory care services? Will the Affordable Care Act change how we practice respiratory care? Is an associate degree an appropriate level of education for an entry level Respiratory Therapist? All of these questions will be answered over the next five years and Virginia RTs need someone who will represent them with thoughtfulness and vigor, when these issues are raised on a national level. That is why I respectfully ask for your vote for VSRC Delegate.

5 Candidates for Northern District Director Cassandra Johnson, Jessica Taylor Cassandra Johnson MBA, RRT-NPS Job Title: Team Leader, Respiratory Care Services, Inova Fairfax Medical Campus Associate of Applied Science, Respiratory Therapy, Pima Medical Institute, Denver, CO Bachelors in Business Management & Marketing from University of Phoenix, Denver, CO Masters degree in Business Administration from University of Phoenix, Denver, CO I have attended the AARC Congress in Las Vegas and been a member of the AARC for several years. In light of the many upcoming changes in Healthcare Reform, NBRC credentials, community-outreach programs, home healthcare and changes in Respiratory Care 2 and 4 year college programs, I feel it is an exciting time for me to continue serving our profession by joining the VSRC team as a Board member. I believe that my 16 years experience in Respiratory Care and leadership experience will enable me to bring some fresh ideas to the table, help us advance our profession, increase our visibility, network with others about crucial issues and continue to serve our community.
