The City of D Iberville provides a friendly, small town setting along with the progressive and active environment of a larger city. The city has annexed 3.5 square miles making the total square miles of our city We are here to help you through the annexation process, answer your questions and provide any information you need to make a smooth transition into our community. We are careful to balance the interest of annexation, making sure we maintain the same high level of services for both current residents and our new neighbors. My door is open; I welcome your ideas and your feedback Police Protection: Upon annexation, your neighborhood will be served by the D Iberville Police Department. You can expect an enhanced level of police protection. Officers patrol all sectors of the city 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. Our police department is community oriented and supports the Neighborhood Crime Watch program. The departments National Night Out offer residents a chance to meet officers and learn about the department s crime-fighting efforts. D Iberville Police Department has highly trained officers who work to keep the neighborhood safe and respond quickly to emergencies as they arise. Quality law enforcement services are essential to a growing community. The D Iberville Police Department is continuously working to improve such services to our citizens and visitors.

2 We thank our citizens and visitors for their cooperation and understanding of the road construction occurring in our city. We ask that you continue to be patient while this construction is going on. Road widening at Sangani Blvd is in progress. I know the construction is very frustrating for our motorist please drive defensively, patiently, most of all please be courteous. Our roadways will be safer and navigation will be easier once construction is complete. This construction project is still on path. We hope to have more information on bridge construction soon and we will keep you informed with updated information. We continue to work towards a safer D Iberville for citizens and visitors. The new fly overpass is open to traffic! All traffic is running smoothly. Please use extra caution in this area as we all are getting use to the difference in the roadway and traffic flow. We sincerely appreciate your co-operation and patience during this project. Impaired Driving Creates Serious Consequences The consequences are serious and real. Drunk driving violators often face jail time, the loss of their driver s license, higher insurance rates, and dozens of other unanticipated expenses ranging from attorney fees, court costs, car towing and repairs, and lost wages due to time off from work. Refusing to take a sobriety test in many jurisdictions may result in the loss of your license on the spot and the impoundment of your vehicle. Not to mention the added embarrassment, humiliation, and consequences after informing family, friends and employers. Driving while impaired is not worth the risk. For more information, visit

3 On average, one in three people will be involved in a drunk driving crash in their lifetime. Drunk Driving Prevention Following these easy steps, a driver can enjoy a safe and festive holiday without jeopardizing their life and the lives of the others who may be on the road. Plan a safe way home before the festivities begin. Before drinking, please designate a sober driver and give that person your keys. If you re impaired, use a taxi, call a sober friend or family member, or use public transportation so you are sure to get home safely. If you happen to see a drunk driver on the road, don t hesitate to contact your local law enforcement. And remember, if you know someone who is about to drive while impaired, take their keys and help them make other arrangements to get to where they are going safely. 5 The Patrol Operation August Activities for Patrol Captain Jones and Lt. Myers attended Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings in Socurro, NM August 8/20 through 8/23. Patrol conducted a DUI detail in support of the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign from 8/16 through 9/2. Marine Patrol conducted directed patrol for the Labor Day holiday. CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS DIVISION August activities for the Criminal Investigations Division Investigating a reported Credit Card Fraud which victim s wallet was stolen from her purse and her credit card was used to purchase items at Best Buy and Target in the amount of $3, Investigating an Identity Theft in which someone obtained the victim s social security number to open a checking account at Regions Bank Burglary of a vehicle reported in Coventry Estates, victim reports a firearm was stolen Stephen David Graham was charged with Felony DUI due to this being his third offense within the past five years Investigating a reported Strong Armed Robbery which occurred on I110. Victim reported being robbed of $ by two black males after her vehicle ran out of gas. Preliminary investigation indicates victim actually spent the money at a local casino. Investigating a Grand Larceny which occurred on Cassimir Avenue, Back Bay Pawn. Mr. Fayard reported a 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 truck and a 32 foot Gooseneck trailer were stolen. Investigating a reported Felony Malicious Mischief in which Mr. Bernard Downey states Timothy McMillian caused $ in damage to his 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt Sergeant Marty Griffin completed the Mississippi Law Enforcement Command College on the campus of Ole Miss in Oxford, MS on August 02 nd.

6 Investigator Gus Galloway completed a four day instructor s course on less lethal munitions which included OC, Chemical Munitions, Impact Munitions and Flash Bangs held in Southaven, MS. Investigations Division officers attended a two hour refresher course for the Leads on Line program which was held at Mississippi Highway Patrol s Troop K s training room on August 28 th. We would like to recognize the following officer for the achievement for the award of Officer of the Month: Corporal Floyd Sherrell for his high arrest rate supporting DUI enforcement.
