Case Study We recently had a client with an z/os FTP Logon problem to the mainframe FTP server. Taking an IP packet trace with CleverView for ctrace Analysis showed a significant amount of information, but we were unable to see the application level due to the encryption that was applied. We then took a data trace and were able to see into the FTP logon details. Figure 1 shows the Trace generation screen with the new area to provide the details on the data trace generation. Figure 2 shows the z/os Data Trace summary screen highlighting the Login packet.

Line 34 Details Using the side by side comparison feature, we were able to view the IP packet trace and the application data trace. After reviewing the application and IP details side by side, the IT knowledge workers resolved the logon issue in minutes. CLEVER Solutions!
