8 WHY HEALTH SCIENCE? The Bachelor of Science in Health Science is a degree completion program for... health-related professionals. This degree is particularly appropriate for those who want the leadership, supervisory, administrative skills and degree required for upward mobility within organizations. These individuals already have the appropriate academic preparation and licensures, the necessary clinical skills, and the proper in-service training in a health-related discipline. (Drury University) According to a study by Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce, individuals with a bachelor s degree now make 84 percent more over a lifetime than those with only a high school diploma, up from 75 percent in 1999.

9 WHAT IS REGISTERED NURSING? Registered Nurses may: Assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. Administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients Advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management (O*NET Online) RNs practice in all healthcare settings: hospitals, nursing homes, medical offices, ambulatory care centers, community health centers, schools, and retail clinics. The Bureau of Labor Statistics website predicts: Higher than average job growth of 26% from 2010 to 2020 American Nurses Association website states: A Bachelor of Science degree in nursing prepares graduates to engage in the full scope of professional nursing practice across all healthcare settings. O*NET Online website states: 1,207,400 projected openings from 2010 to 2020 Only 29% of Registered Nurses have a bachelors degree, meaning graduates of this program will be highly competitive with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Health Sciences, both.
