In anticipation of the exponential growth in healthcare data, we have developed a modern architecture that can support high volumes and velocity of data (Big Data), the streaming of that data to feed real-time analytics for predictive purposes and innovation through a layer of Open APIs. 2 Amadeus The True Big Data Solution for Health At the heart of Open Platform is Amadeus, s big data engine. Amadeus signifies a marked evolution in s capability to process, store and present all forms of health-related data. Built using cutting-edge storage technologies and a distributed processing architecture, Amadeus is unparalleled in its ability to extract maximum value from available data and future-proof organizations for exponential growth and the coming of genomic data. By retaining the annotated source data in its original form, the Raw Data Store enables organizations to focus on their immediate needs, with the knowledge that all data is being retained and can be used for future analysis, or error correction. Extract more value from existing source data In conjunction with the Raw Data Store, the Data Processing Pipeline provides the ability to replay entire message volumes (or parts) to extract additional value from existing data. This replay capability is key for providing analytics systems with the best available information at a time when analytics for both population health management and genomics are still emerging. Organizations can iteratively develop new solutions with the knowledge that additional information can still be extracted from existing data in the future. Massive scalability to meet the demands of genomic and consumer data The Amadeus Data Processing Pipeline distributes the processing of data to enable the Open Platform to truly scale and ingest data from all possible sources. The Data Processing Pipeline handles the processing required to prepare the data for Data Spaces, such as validation, sequencing, mapping, enrichment, semantic normalization and other complex reasoning. Proven data aggregation Open Platform aggregates clinical, payer, consumer and other healthcare data types to provide a complete patient record from all available sources. Using the proven integration capabilities of the Rhapsody Integration Engine, Open Platform integrates with the greater community record and accepts information in almost any format including HL7, Continuity of Care Documents, and Consolidated CDA. 3 Features Consumer-contributed data Snapshot of a patient s recent clinical events The most relevant information is often the most recent information and the Open Platform s patient-centric Activity Stream provides the most intuitive and easyto-comprehend interface. The Activity Stream provides a snapshot of activity in a social media-style feed and enables the user to drill into specific locations in the Patient record to get more information. Integrated consumer device data Consumer Data Spaces enable the ingestion, processing and storage of a broad range of data from consumer devices including height, weight, blood pressure, physical activity and blood glucose. This provides clinicians with powerful new insights into how their patients are managing their conditions between consultations and improves clinical decision-making by further enriching patient records. Automated monitoring systems can be put in place to proactively alert providers when consumer device readings suggest there is a need for intervention. Integrated custom data Custom Data Spaces provide customers with the ability to deploy data models customized for a specific purpose, allowing the rapid prototyping of new domain models and the capture of customer-specific data sets. This means that region or site-specific data models can be built without the time and cost associated with traditional product development. In addition to providing the storage infrastructure for these custom models, Custom Data Spaces automatically generate REST APIs. These APIs apply security, privacy, auditing, patient-matching and enrichment functionality to enable applications developed by, or third-party developers, to consume Open Platform information in a safe and secure manner. Next generation privacy Open Platform includes an advanced privacy implementation that provides granular access to data elements based on the user s role and the sensitivity of the data. The privacy module provides a unique and simplified user interface that enables advanced privacy rules to be implemented for today s complex ACO environments. Open Platform 3

4 Real-time notifications Other Features Real-time Notifications With patients visiting multiple healthcare organizations throughout their community, it is important to keep authorized users informed about a patient s ongoing care and treatment. Notification and subscription management is a key feature of Open Platform that enables real-time messaging of critical information, ensuring that providers know about patient events outside their organization. The Notifications tool distributes relevant alerts and clinical information about pre-defined events such as a hospital admission, discharge or finalized laboratory results available for review. As messages flow through the solution, they generate notifications, which can be delivered to a Direct Messaging network inbox or secured account. Translating code into industry-standard terminology By carrying out semantic normalization - translating incoming coded data to industry-standard terminology - Open Platform facilitates the safe and consistent exchange of data and enables a unified and consistent view of the patient record. Open Platform uses semantic normalization of incoming clinical data to consistently aggregate, display and analyze information allowing the display and comparison of clinical data. has extensive experience normalizing and standardizing data in order to achieve semantic interoperability with EMRs, registration and departmental systems including Cerner, Epic, Meditech, Allscripts, McKesson, eclinicalworks, Siemens, Eclipsys, GE Centricity, Greenway and NextGen. 5 Enterprise Master Patient Index Open Platform includes an Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) to enable information from multiple organizations to be linked to the correct patient or member - critical to establish a complete patient/member record from all data sources. The EMPI evaluates patient records and assigns an Enterprise Unique ID (EUID) to facilitate data quality management and interoperability. The EMPI identifies and resolves duplicate patient records, improves the accuracy of patient identification, enables a patient-centric view of information, and simplifies connectivity with EMR, EHR systems and other HIE systems. Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) Infrastructure Open Platform s Data Engine and accessing federated information using the IHE Cross Enterprise Document Sharing (XDS) standards. These standards allow supporting organizations to share Documents with the Open Platform with minimal effort and adds to the rich data already available in the system. CCD generation The CCD generation functionality of Open Platform is a useful tool for users wanting to consolidate and share documents relating to a patient. The patient snapshot can be configured to allow the user to perform different actions on the CCD, such as sending the clinical document to the user s EMR system, downloading or printing the document, or transmitting the document to a Direct mailbox using send via Direct capabilities. Allegro Allegro provides a universal, secure and web-based point-to-point messaging that allows all health workers to quickly communicate and share sensitive information, enabling better patient care. Public Health Reporting Public health reporting is a necessary and important function for every organization. The Public Health Reporting component of Open Platform provides fast and secure transmission of data between providers, public health agencies, Health Information Exchanges (HIE) and Regional Health Information Organizations (RHIO). Configured profiles support various public health programs such as Electronic Laboratory Reporting (ELR) profiles, biosurveillance profiles, and immunization registry profiles, as well as custom reporting, all of which satisfy Meaningful Use public health criteria. Exchange Gateway s Exchange Gateway is one of the first ehealth Exchange-validated products in the US providing community-to-community exchange based on national standards. Exchange Gateway connects the Open Platform to the nationwide ehealth Exchange (formerly the Nationwide Health Information Network) and facilitates the sharing of patient information across the country.
