1 Saturday, March 28, 2015 Venetian/Sands EXPO Venetian Ballroom E 7:00 AM 5:10 PM American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine General Information Description This live activity will expose the participant to the most up-to-date information for the successful treatment of shoulder and knee injuries commonly seen by the orthopedic surgeon in their practice. Complications, surgical techniques, and appropriate non-operative treatment will be discussed in a debate format allowing the participant to alter or confirm their own decisions on the appropriate management to return patients to their activities of daily living or participation in sports of their choosing. Statement of Need A need for this live activity has been determined based on identifying professional practice gaps, previous course evaluations, the AOSSM Self Assessment, and the AOSSM Educational Curriculum. The content of this course was based on current issues and topics provided by the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) membership and leadership. Target Audience This program should prove valuable to any orthopaedic surgeon, physician, or allied health professional in the field of sports medicine or related fields of practice. Program The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine attests that the people responsible for the development of this educational activity did so independently and were not influenced by commercial supporters. Educational Objectives Upon completion of this education activity, learners should be able to: Discuss the controversy surrounding surgical evaluation and treatment of common shoulder and knee complaints in patients Discuss and identify the selection criteria for operative versus nonoperative treatment for shoulder and knee patients after specific injury patterns Identify key factors which determine long term results for the health of patients to return them to activity of daily living or preferred sports Accreditations AMA/PRA This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, and tthe American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons.
