1 2 nd International Congress October, 28-29, 2016 Estrel Convention Center, Berlin German Equine Veterinary Association (GEVA-GPM) DVG-subgroup "Equine Diseases" 81

2 GEVA-GPM 2 nd Int. Congress Friday, October 28 Saturday, October 29, 2016 Internationality Continuing Education Research Welcome to Berlin and the 2nd International GEVA- GPM Congress, jointly organized by the German Equine Veterinary Association (GEVA) and the subgroup Equine Diseases of the German Veterinary Medical Society (GVMS). This international congress aims to provide a platform for continuing education and scientific exchange for veterinarians working in the equine field, beyond the borders of Germany. The idea is to bring basic science, clinical science and daily clinical work together. To support this idea, topclass speakers from Germany, other European countries, and the Prof. Dr. K. Feige Prof. Dr. M. Röcken United States will present the latest studies and insights from practice and science. The anglophone format of the congress will help to promote international exchange in equine medicine. The program mirrors versatile scientific activities in kind of more than 50 contributions from different European countries and North America. All abstracts were submitted early in the year to allow peer-review and to ensure excellent scientific quality of the congress and to support evidencebased medicine. User-oriented contributions as well as data derived from basic research are equally represented and will be categorized into different special topics sessions. By the coexistence of presentations on applied clinical science and basic research, congress participants can follow their specific interests and a fruitful dialogue between veterinary practice and science will be promoted and reinforced. In advance, we would like to thank all speakers, who submitted high-quality abstracts, thereby, contributing to a successful outcome of the congress. Experienced speakers will present State-of-the-Art lectures on topics like diagnosis and management of fetlock diseases, diagnosis and management of neck problems, emerging and re-emerging diseases and the acute abdomen. And because sometimes things go wrong, an afternoon will be assigned to how to manage complications. Last, but not least, we would like to thank the industry for presenting their innovative products in an exhibition with more than 100 booths and for sponsorship of the 2nd International GEVA-GPM congress making it possible, that the latest information on equine medicine can be picked up in Berlin. Prof. Dr. Karsten Feige President GEVA-GPM Prof. Dr. Michael Röcken Chairman DVG-subgroup "Equine Diseases" 82
