APPROVAL: CA BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL: In October, the Administration Staff advised the Commission Executive Aides that their Commissioners representatives on the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Committee will expire on December 31, b81c2 1 of 23

2 The Administration Staff will advise the individuals of the appointments and letters and Certificates of Appreciation will be mailed to any members not reappointed (Mr. Parkinson and Mr. Coton). The Chair will sign the letters and certificates. Attached are resumes/generic applications from the Commissions representatives as the BCC requested on June 18, 2013 when members were appointed by the Commission or by agencies. ISSUES: None. RECOMMENDED ACTION: RECOMMENDATION The Board is asked to confirm their appointments to the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Committee for terms to begin January 1, 2014 and end December 31, 2014: Commission District 1 Tammy Simoneau with Kristen Sweeney as the alternate; Commission District 2 Edwin Maxwell with Virginia Sherlock as the alternate; Commission District 3 Scott King with Gene A. Rauth as the alternate; Commission District 4 Pauline Becker with Kathie Smith as the alternate; and Commission District 5 Luis Dominguez with Ike Crumpler as the alternate. 4 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Committee This is not a Board of County Commission established Committee. Powers & Duties: The purpose of the Committee, in accordance with U.S. Economic Development Administration Guidelines for Economic Development Districts (1992), is to oversee and guide District-wide economic development planning. The Committee will develop strategies to address economic development issues including the diversification of the District economy and job expansion. Members share information, advise the Economic Development District on areas of economic data development, and create a consensus plan of action. The Strategy Committee is responsible for developing, implementing, revising, or replacing the CEDS. The Strategy Committee is also responsible for outlining the methodology for cooperating and integrating the CEDS with a State s economic priorities, and incorporating relevant material from other government sponsored or supported plans and ensuring consistency with applicable state and local workforce investment strategies. How Appointed: Five members are appointed from Martin County. Terms: The terms are from January to December of each year. Meetings: The Committee meets quarterly.
