2 ACI data focused CI - A view towards the horizon Catalyze transformative, science, engineering, research, education & interdisciplinary driven developments through applications of robust, shared, resources & means; Advance robust shared resources enabling capture, management, curation, analysis, interpretation, archiving & sharing of data at unprecedented scales & complexities enabling discoveries in all areas of inquiries & facilities Ensure data focused cyberinfrastructure remains at the most advanced states of sophistication, capacities & capabilities; Ensure that the future workforce of scientists, engineers & educators are equipped with skills to make use of & build upon, the next generation of data focused cyberinfrastructure Contribute to advances in comprehensive policies for data, software, publications & other digital outputs resulting from NSF supported activities
3 ACI data focused cyberinfrastructure - advancing through Building Blocks Encourage developments of robust & shared data-centric cyberinfrastructure capabilities as resources accelerating interdisciplinary & collaborative research in all areas of science, engineering, research & education enabled by data. Bring together cyberinfrastructure expertise & domain researchers, to ensure that the resulting cyberinfrastructure components address researchers' data needs. Data Infrastructure Building Blocks NSF # NSF Cross Directorate Program focusing on data challenges confronting NSF communities Two classes of anticipated awards Pilot Demonstrations addressing broad community interests, either to a large number of researchers within a research domain, or extending to encompass other disciplines; up to 7 awards of up to $500K per year for up to three years Early Implementations of interest to multiple research communities in multiple scientific and engineering domains, specific focus to ensure real needs of communities are identified & met up to 2 awards each of up to $1,000,000 per year for up to five years Proposal deadline 9 April outcomes to be communicated as soon as available
