1 The Video Conferencing Pilot. An Educational Project AIM: To raise the profile of Video Conferencing as a tool for teaching and learning and to create a Cornish Pool of expertise that can be used to support and train other schools for the future. OBJECTIVE 1 To plan a transition project between primary and secondary schools using live satellite links and Video Conferencing to enhance teaching and learning and enjoy and achieve.

3 So far The Plan 14 th March- Overview and choice of equipment 16 th April Training on start of Transition Project e-mission run with teachers. 1 st May- Half day. What should we include? VC Link. Half Day. Joint planning between partner schools

4 The Plan Half day planning in schools for Lead teachers in project. Half day trialling activities with sample pupils. 6 th and 7 th June- Whole day planning between partner schools. Subsequent project. Berlewen Building. June/September One day- visiting year 7 teachers to year 6/ year 6 teacher to year 7. Day 7 - Review of Project, moderations and Development plans approved.

I can order the planets according to size and remember this order. I understand how to extract relevant information and can problem solve. I can consider design problems for objects that are taken into space.

8 Objectives for this session To learn how the strategy of Collective memory equally supports the thinking skills of Information processing and Evaluation To consider ways of implementing the strategy in the classroom To consider ways of maximising the learning potential of this strategy for all pupils

9 How does it work? Each team sends one member at a time to look at the image for ten seconds They return to their group and start to reproduce the original After a short period of time, the next member from the group looks at the image for ten seconds After each turn, groups reflect and plan the next visit After a few turns each, pupils are asked to compare their versions with the original

The next member of the group comes up. You will have 2 turns each. The scaffolding for each group is slightly different

14 Order according to size: The Sun is a star, not a planet. Pluto is now classed as a dwarf planet. It is the second largest object in the Kuiper belt.

Put this information into the 1 st two columns of the table. Think carefully about ways that these problems can be overcome by filling in the last column.

19 I can consider design problems for objects that are taken into space. Look at the object on your table. Use clues from the extract and what you know about space to re-design this object for a space shuttle. Draw your design in the middle of the page and annotate why you have made these modifications around the outside of your drawing. You have until the end of the music to complete your design.

23 Plenary. Next steps Use the training and planning sessions from today to plan your unit of work. Book in half a day for planning and half a day for trialling activities with sample pupils before the 6 th June. Notify myself and Linda of dates. Ensure you have fixed the dates for the Video Conferencing with the NSC within the next 2 weeks and please keep me informed of any changes. Ensure you register with JANET. You can not VC to NSC unless this is set up and it can take 10 days. You then must do a pre-test. Next dates together are the 6 th and 7 th June at the Berlewen Building.
