1 Hardware Announcement May 11, 2004 Brocade SAN Switch Modules, Fibre Channel Expansion Card and Intel Ethernet Expansion Card for IBM expands integration fabric capabilities Overview Brocade SAN Switch Modules for IBM The Brocade Enterprise SAN Switch Module and the Brocade Entry SAN switch Module integrate the Brocade fabric into the architecture. These SAN fabric switches deliver the advanced Brocade functions, performance, manageability, scalability, and security required by the most demanding SANs. Integration of SAN switching capabilities reduces complexity and increases SAN manageability. This offering further leverages the leadership capabilities our Alliance Partners to provide customers the most technology choices. Fibre Channel Expansion Card (13N2203) This Fibre Channel Host Bus adapter contains a single FC controller supporting two independent ports, each capable of up to 2 Gb/s transmissions. This option replaces the current Fibre Channel Expansion Card option (48P7061). Intel Gigabit Ethernet Expansion Card (90P3777) The Intel Ethernet Expansion Card delivers an additional dual one Gigabit Ethernet NIC on the HS40 Blade. Used in conjunction with any of the Ethernet Switch Modules or Optical Pass-Through Module in I/O Module bays 3 and/or 4, additional Ethernet connections are enabled on the server blade. Product positioning The current Fibre Channel Switch Module (QLogic) is positioned as the standards-based Fibre Channel switch model at an entry price point. This switch module is the lowest priced Fibre Channel switch model in the portfolio of SAN switch modules. The Brocade Entry SAN switch module is the mid-range price point for the portfolio of SAN switch modules and delivers Brocade advanced features. The Brocade Enterprise SAN switch modules are positioned at the top of the portfolio.
