Protect Your Data must be installed by user who is a member of administrator group. 2. Verify that all hardware and software requirements are met. 3. Installation is on supported operating system. System Requirements Hardware Any ProLiant 100 series server (Installer will operate only on ProLiant 100 series servers. Protect Your Data support on ProLiant 300, 500, and 700 series servers is available on SmartStart releases 7.4 and greater.) Operating System Microsoft Windows 2000, Service Pack 4 or higher Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server, Service Pack 4 or higher Microsoft Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition Microsoft Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition Software Supported web browsers for Protect Your Data are as follows: Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x or greater and Mozilla Firefox or greater.

2 Installing and Configuring the Software 1. Download Protect Your Data (PYD) application from PYD web site The download file is a self-extracting zip file, named PL100PydWin.exe. 2. Unzip Protect Your Data application by launching PL100PydWin.exe file. A dialog box is displayed showing the default directory where the installation files are stored, see Figure 1. Select either Run to execute installer in RAM or Save to store installer locally to disk. If Save button is selected go to step 4. Figure 1 - WinZip self-extractor dialog box. Protect Your Data application is unzipped into the directory of the downloaded file. Files are then unzipped into sub-directory Protect Your Data. 3. Select Run to begin unzipping application, see Figure 2. The Protect Your Data installer will launch automatically, see Figure 3. Proceed to step 6. 3 Figure 3 - Dialog box showing unzipping status. Once unzipping process has completed, the installer will launch automatically. 4. Select the drive and directory to store Protect Your Data installer, see Figure 4. Select Save button to begin downloading installer program. A dialog box showing download status will be displayed during download operation, see Figure 5. After the installer has been saved to disk, launch by double clicking PL100PydWin.exe as shown in Figure 6. The PL100PydWin application will display status during the installation process, see Figure 7 and Figure 8. Once installation is finished proceed to step 7. 5 6. Once installer is downloaded it will launch automatically, see dialog box in Figure 7. Select install button to start installation process. When installation is finished the installer log will indicate loading status of Protect Your Data components, see Figure 8. Figure 8 - Installer dialog box displaying status information after a successful installation. 7. The PYD application can be launched using the desktop Icon labeled 'Protect Your Data'. An alternative method to launch PYD is to type the URL, in your browser's url address field. (See Software section above for list of supported browsers.) Uninstalling 1. Open 'Add or Remove Programs' from Control Panel. 2. Select 'HP Protect Your Data.' Select the remove button to begin removal. Note, do not remove HP System Management Home Page. 3. Initially, a dialog box is displayed with blank text field, see Figure 9. Status information about the uninstall will be displayed at the completion of removal operation. Select Uninstall to begin the removal process.

Select Yes to continue with the uninstall, select No to stop the uninstall operation, see Figure 10.
