44 CONCEPT AND SAFETY. Your MINI, your bodyguard: various sensors recognize dangers before they actually arise, allowing you to react in good time. In tricky situations, you are supported by the intelligent suspension and braking systems. Maximum security on four wheels: in the event of a crash, a wealth of safety equipment provides you with optimum, all-around protection. J BRAKING SYSTEMS. Optimum braking behaviour in any situation is ensured by 4 disc brakes, with the latest generation of 4 sensor Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) as standard. Enhancing your agility, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) manages the balance of the braking force between the front and rear axle. Cornering Brake Control (CBC) improves stability by evening out brake pressure from side-to-side when braking while cornering or changing lanes. Brake Assist speeds up the slow-down process, enabling maximum braking pressure while minimizing the braking distance. J STABILITY CONTROL. MINI s standard Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) will automatically adjust engine power and apply slight braking force when instability is detected. When DSC is turned off, Automatic Stability Control + Traction (ASC+T) activates and improves front axle traction when accelerating on slick surfaces, helping you dig out of that sand trap or deep snow. J FLEXIBLE REAR AXLE. Thanks to the multilink rear axle, each wheel can react independently, meaning that an uneven road surface doesn t affect the entire chassis and that your driving experience remains as relaxed as ever. Even more safety is provided by the single-link spring-strut front axle and symmetrical, equal length drive shafts. J DRIVE-OFF ASSISTANT. J STRONG TIRES. A MINI never has that deflated feeling, thanks to Run-Flat Tires with emergency running properties. The reinforced sidewalls allow you to drive up to 80 km at a speed of 80 km/h, even with complete tire pressure loss. Combined with a tire pressure warning system that will alert you if any of the four wheels drop in air pressure, you ll keep your tires in optimal condition and always firmly planted on the road. J FAST AIRBAGS. The MINI 3 door and 5 door are equipped with a total of eight airbags, while the Countryman and Paceman are designed with seven. For the other models, including the MINI Convertible, Coupé, and Roadster, four airbags come standard. Driver and passenger airbags protect the head and upper body during a head-on collision. Side and head airbags reduce the risk of injuries to the head, chest, and pelvic regions during side impact. These SMART airbags constantly measure the driver s and front passenger s positions, seatbelt use, and impact severity that determine airbag inflation rates accordingly, keeping you safe and protected. J BRILLIANT LIGHTS. Optimum light on straights and bends alike thanks to MINI s optional Bi-Xenon and LED Headlights. Clear and bright illumination with automatic self-levelling that adjusts the beam s angle to the road based on your MINI s speed and load. They even clean themselves with retractable power washers for the very best visibility. When starting off on an inclined road or hill, MINI s Drive-Off Assistant will hold your position for up to two seconds after your foot comes off the brake pedal, ensuring a perfect take-off with no rolling back. 41
