Specialist sizes and patterns of your own clock hands can be made, please provide an outline drawing to size, or photograph along with specific dimensions and we will furnish you with a quotation upon request. Dial clock hands are manufactured from 0.9mm ( 1 32 ) shim steel most Long Case clock hands are manufactured from 1.5mm ( 1 16 ) to 2 mm ( 5 64 ) mild steel, depending on the design, (please see details inside) All bosses are appropriate to the size of the individual hand design. All hands are supplied with a pilot hole to the center of the boss. Clock Movement Restoration We now carry out a restoration and cleaning service for most clock movements alongside dial restoration and re-silvering; we also undertake the restoration of painted dials of all sizes but these items are contracted out to a renowned and trusted, painted dial restorer. Wood Bleacher A wood bleacher that is ideal for the removal of dark stains caused by rust, alcohol, damp, ink, water, ring marks and fruit etc. Black ring stains, are caused by water or other substances from bottles or a damp glass etc. The ring stains are caused by a chemical reaction, between iron a trace element in tap water and the natural mild acids within the wood, especially on woods like walnut, oak, mahogany, & cherry. This wood bleach is also an excellent medium for lightening wood that has been darkened by staining or weathering and alkali stripping or generally lightening many natural dark woods. We recommend that the wood is first cleaned of any polish, in order to get to the source of the stain, and then apply the wood bleach sparingly with a small brush, and allow to dry; persistent stains may require repeated applications. Then wash the wood bleach off thoroughly with clean water, at the same time adding a small amount of ordinary vinegar to the water, this will help to neutralise the chemical reaction of the bleach, on completion of this, dry with a cloth to remove excess. The wood must then be allowed to dry naturally, ideally about 18 hours before refinishing. Please note the wood bleach should be first tested on an inconspicuous area of the wood before using. Please use gloves and goggles as a precaution. It does not harm the wood and comes ready to use, with full instructions. This restoration service is also applicable to barometers, with aneroid movements, mercury tubes to be renewed along with dials to be re-silvered and cases fully restored. Postage 2.00 per pair 4 Our silvering powder has been formulated to give a long lasting, high quality silver finish to all kinds of antique brass, clock dials. It works via a chemical reaction with the brass, when applied to a finely grained dial. There must be no trace of any dirt, grease or lacquer at the time of the application; otherwise the correct finish will not be achieved. Having been a restorer for over 10 years now, I decided to make my own powder, using an age old recipe which is neither bulked up nor unreasonable on price. We consider it important to use good quality materials in order to produce worthwhile restorations. There are two elements to this process, with full instructions for use; one container has the silvering powder, the second the finishing powder which is required to burnish the dial upon completion of silvering. It is advised that gloves are used when using this product, not only for health reasons but to prevent dirt or grease from contaminating your work, on completion you will have an excellent finish second to none. Submerge all metal items fully for between 1 to 3 hours. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and using a soft brush, agitate stubborn dirt, and then likewise dry thoroughly to achieve best results. If stains are persistent, items could be left longer but no more than 24 hours, after which the metal work can then be polished, full instructions, are given on each bottle.
