2 OWL HAT - BOY By Cristina Mershon MATERIALS - Cascade Yarns - Cherub Aran (55% nylon, 45% acrylic), 100 gr. ball, 1 ball of each color: -Peacock Blue, #33 -Key Lime, #11 -Ruby Red, #25 -Black, #40 -White, #01 - Hook size D/3 (3.25 mm) - Yarn needle ABBREVIATIONS beg = beginning dc = double crochet lps = loops sc = single crochet sl = slip stitch sp = space st = stitch rnd = round rp = repeat yo = yarn over dc2tog = double crochet two together SPECIAL STITCHES Double Crochet Two Together (dc2tog): [Yarn over, insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and pull up loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops] 2 times, yarn over, draw through all loops on hook 1 stitch decreased. BOY HAT INSTRUCTIONS Size 2-6 years old This is a very easy, fun and colorful hat to make. Your toddler will love, not only to wear it, but roll playing with it. Instructions are given for size 2 years-6 years, but it can be easyly adjusted. For smaller hats, after round 4, continue to round 7. For bigger hats, after round 6, repeat that same round 6 a couple more times until desired width, and then continue along following the instructions. Using the Peacock Blue #33 color, ch 5, join with a sl in beg ch to form a ring.

3 Rnd 1: Ch 3, 15 dc in ring, sl st in third beg ch. Rnd 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in every dc across until the end of the rnd, sl st in third beg ch. Rnd 3: Ch 3, *[ dc in next dc, 2 dcs in next dc ], rep * across until the end of the rnd, sl st in third beg ch. Rnd 4: Ch 3, *[ dc in next 2 dcs, 2 dcs in next dc ], rep * across until the end of the rnd, sl st in third beg ch. Rnd 5: Ch 3, *[ dc in next 3 dcs, 2 dcs in next dc ], rep * across until the end of the rnd, sl st in third beg ch. Rnd 15: Ch 3, dc in every dc across, do not go all the way to the end of the rnd, stop when you have 25 dcs left on the rnd (aproximately 1/3 of the hat left out without working the new color all the way around). Turn. Rnd 16: Ch 3, dc in every dc across until the end of the rnd, turn. Rnd 17: Ch 3, dc2tog, dc in next 22 dcs, dc2tog on next 2 dcs, do not continue finishing the rnd, turn. Rnd 18-23: Ch 3, dc2tog, dc in every dc across until only 2 dcs are left, dc2tog in those 2 last dcs, turn. At the end of rnd 23, fasten off and The firs ear flat is ready! Now we have to finish the second one. Attach the same Ruby Reb #25 yarn where the second ear flap should go. You should attach it in the back of hat, 3 dcs away from the other ear flap. To make sure they are the same size, make sure you are 27 dcs away from the face opening. Repeat round again, after round 23, fasten off and We are going to start creating a nice colorful edging around the borders of the hat and ear flaps. Re-attach Ruby Red #25 yarn in the middle of the back of the hat with right side facing you. Rnd 24: Ch 1, sc in every dc across until the end of the rnd following the whole perimeter of the hat, sl st in beg ch, fasten off and Attach Peacock Blue #33 yarn. Rnd 25: Ch 1, sc in BACK LOOPS ONLY in every dc across until the end of the rnd, sl st in beg ch, fasten off and

4 Attach Key Lime #11 yarn. Rnd 26: Rep rnd 25, fasten off and weave in end. The body of the hat is ready! EYES INSTRUCTIONS Make two eyes. With Black #40 yarn, ch 4, join with sl st in beg ch to form a rign. Rnd 1: Ch 3, 15 dc in ring, sl st in third beg ch. Fasten off and Attach Peacock Blue #33 yarn.
