4 Pre-installation Checklist 1. Set the Server IP to a Static Address 2. If the host has more than one network card disable all network cards that are not being used by the clients to connect. 3. Assure the server has a connection to the internet (Needed to Download Resources) 4. Assure you have the SMTP mail settings for the server, this will allow it to send responses to requests for lost passwords. Mail Server Name, Account Name, and Account Password 5. Check for availability of disk space 60GB, it is recommended the server be installed on a different drive or partition then the operating system. 6. Administrative Privileges on the Server 7. When using the included backup utility, an account with administrative privileges and a password that does not expire will be needed as well. 4 Rev A

5 LearnMate Server Installation Procedure 1. Insert a the first DVD containing learnmate server, the disk should autorun and start a installation menu. If the menu does not load then run Autorun.exe from the root of the DVD. The following menu should appeer. 2. Click on Install LearnMate Server, to launch the server installation. 3. If your server does not have Microsoft.NET 4.0 LearnMate Installer will download and install it for you. 5 Rev A

6 4. After.NET installs or if you already had.net installed you will see the start of the install wizard. Click Next. 5. Enter the provided CD-Key, select Online and click unlock to license the LearnMate 5 server. 6 Rev A

7 6. The licensing utility will ask you to confirm you CD-Key. Click OK 7. The software will connect to the internet and confirm the software has been unlocked. Click Close. 7 Rev A

8 8. You will now be prompted by the Licensing Agreement take time to read the agreement and make sure the terms are understood before continuing the installation. To continue click the radio button I accept the terms of the license agreement and then click Next. 9. Select the drive letter you wish to install LearnMate 5 onto, it is recommend you install LearnMate 5 on a different drive then the operating system. Click Next. 8 Rev A

9 10. The install wizard will now begin transferring files for LearnMate 5 to the chosen location on the server. Click Install to begin. 11. After the file copy, on stations with the firewall enabled Windows may prompt with the following dialog. Select Domain networks, Private networks, and Public networks. Click Allow access 9 Rev A

10 12. After the files have been copied LearnMate, set the local time zone for the LearnMate 5 server, and then click Next. 13. This screen configuration is optional, but should be configured as it will allow LearnMate to manage lost passwords and may prevent a call to customer support if a password is lost. Enter SMTP Server IP/Host Name, SMTP Account Name, and SMTP Password, otherwise just click Next. 10 Rev A

11 14. Select Run the LearnMate backup utility and click Next. 11 Rev A

12 15. Configure the LearnMate backup utility, choose Enable Schedule Backups, Save SQL database only, and browse for a Location to store the backups. It is highly recommended that the Backups be saved to a network location or an external hard drive. Click Schedule Backups 12 Rev A

13 16. Select how often the server should be backed up, the time it should be backed up. Then enter a username and password that has administrative rights and a password that does not expire. Click Set Schedule 17. The system should respond with the following dialog. Click OK 13 Rev A

14 18. The server installation is now complete, click Finish and the server will open a web page to verify the successful installation of LearnMate 5 Server. 19. If the installation was successful the following screen should load in the web browser. 14 Rev A

15 Learnmate Content Installation 1. Insert the first DVD containing learnmate server. The disk should autorun and start a installation menu. If the menu does not load, run Autorun.exe from the root of the DVD. The following menu will appear: 2. Click on Install LearnMate Curriculum, to launch the server installation. 15 Rev A

16 3. Enter the provided CD Key, select Online and click unlock to license the LearnMate 5 server. 4. The licensing utility will ask you to confirm you CD Key. Click OK 16 Rev A

17 5. The software will connect to the internet and confirm the it has been unlocked. Click Close. 6. This is the first screen of the Course Import Wizard. Click Next 17 Rev A

18 7. You will now be prompted by the Licensing Agreement. Take time to read the agreement and make sure the terms are understood before continuing the installation. To continue click the radio button I accept the terms of the license agreement and then click Next. 18 Rev A

19 8. The importer will need access to the newly installed LearnMate server. For the Username: lmadmin and Password: LmAdm1n. Click Next 19 Rev A

20 9. Select Miscellaneous for the organization to install the content into. Click Next 20 Rev A

21 10. Select the courses that should be installed by placing a check box next to the Course Name. Click Next 21 Rev A

22 11. The import wizard will list the courses being installed. This process may take up to 30 minutes per course. 22 Rev A

23 12. After the modules have installed click Finish. 13. If the installation includes additional content, insert the next disc. The LearnMate Course Import Wizard should run automatically. If the Wizard fails to start, open the disc and use the link Launch Learnmate Course Import Utility. 23 Rev A
