The transcript will be reviewed and may be the basis for denial of admission. Re-admission to the College or a Program Abandonment of Program

4 35. A student who has failed to remain continuously registered through the typical sequence of semesters for a program will be considered as having abandoned the program and must apply for re-admission to the program. Application must be made through the Ontario College Application Service (OCAS). 36. Re-admission to the program will be subject to the availability of space in the program. Academic Dismissal 37. A student who has been dismissed from the College because of unsatisfactory academic performance must apply for readmission. 38. A dismissed student must apply to the Registrar for re-admission. The application must provide a rationale and arguments for re-admission. The Registrar will determine the eligibility of the student for re-admission to the College. 39. If approved for re-admission to the College, the student must apply through OCAS for re-admission to the program. The Registrar, in consultation with the appropriate dean, will determine the eligibility of the student for re-admission to the program. 40. Re-admission to the program will be subject to the availability of space in the program. Expulsion from College 41. A student who has been expelled from the College for disciplinary reasons must apply in writing to the Registrar seeking permission for re-admission to the College. The application must provide a rationale and arguments for the re-admission of the student. The Registrar will determine the eligibility of the student for re-admission to the College. 42. If the student is determined to be eligible for re-admission to the College, then the student must apply for admission or readmission to a program through OCAS. 43. Subsequent admission or re-admission to a program will be subject to the applicant meeting program admission requirements and the availability of space in the program. Criminal Record and Vulnerable Persons Checks 44. Some College programs have a clinical, field, co-op or work-placement component within the curriculum. Students in such programs may be required by the host agency or employer to provide a current criminal record check from a police service and/or a vulnerable person check before the student may start the placement. Individuals who have a criminal record and who have not been pardoned may not be accepted by any employer or host agency and so may not be able to participate in a clinical, field or work placement. A criminal record without a pardon will not prevent admission to a program, but may seriously impair the student's opportunity or ability to meet program graduation requirements with respect to clinical, field or work placement, or find employment in the vocation after graduation. Placement Requirements 45. Some College programs have a clinical, field, co-op or work-placement component that requires the employment or acceptance of the student by an agency or employer. The agency or employer may have requirements such as a criminal record check and current immunization. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that he or she is eligible and willing to meet the requirements in order to be able to participate in all components of a program for which she applies or registers. 46. The College assumes no responsibility for accommodating a student, and will not refund tuition to a student, who is unable or unwilling to attain a placement, or subsequent employment because of an inability or unwillingness to satisfy criminal record check, immunization or other such requirements of agencies and employers, or relocate or otherwise make himself available and eligible for employment. 47. The cost associated with a criminal record check, a Vulnerable Person Check, immunization, and other such placement expenses are the responsibility of the student. Admission Selection for Highly Competitive College Programs Selection Criteria 48. When there are more qualified applicants than spaces available in a program (i.e. a highly competitive program), the College will use formal selection techniques to determine successful applicants, in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Ministry policy. The selection criteria and techniques approved by the Ministry include academic requirements and performance. The criteria and selection techniques may vary from program to program.

5 Priority of Admissions 49. Applicants whose applications were received by the application equal-consideration deadline will be considered first. Applications received after the deadline will be considered only if spaces remain open after admission has been offered to all qualified applicants whose applications were received by the deadline. 50. If admission is offered to qualified late applicants, it will be offered on a first-come basis to qualified applicants on the wait list, if and while spaces remain in the program. 51. If there are more qualified applicants than spaces in a program, applicants will be admitted in the following order, as required by the Ministry. 1. Permanent residents of Ontario 2. Permanent residents of another Canadian province 3. Citizens of other countries 52. If, after the application of the above criteria, there remain more applicants than available spaces for any of the above categories, then the following selection process will be applied. Selection Process 53. An average grade will be calculated for each applicant, in the manner described below for each applicant category. Post-Secondary Graduates 54. An average, in percentage terms, of all post-secondary grades will be calculated without differentiation among levels of postsecondary education (e.g. college or university). The average will be multiplied by a weight of 1.15 to determine the weighted average grade. Graduates of the Pre-Health, Human Services Foundation and Pre-Technology programs will be awarded 10 additional points to their weighted average grade. Partial Post-Secondary Education 55. To be considered in this category, an applicant must, at the time of application, have completed a minimum of five onesemester post-secondary courses or three full-year courses. An average of all post-secondary grades will be calculated without differentiation among levels of post-secondary education (e.g. college or university). The average will be multiplied by 1.15 to determine the weighted average grade. For applicants who are full-time students in a Lambton College preparatory program at the time of application, an additional 10 points will be added to the weighted average grade. Secondary School Graduates 56. A weighted average grade for all level three and level four courses will be calculated using the following weighting factors: 1.10 for Advanced Level Courses, OACs, U Level Courses, C Level Courses and M Level Courses; 1.00 for General Level Courses;.90 for Basic or Workplace courses. Mature Applicants 57. Applicants in this category will be required to write tests in mathematics and English and program prescribed courses. For each of the courses, a grade at the grade 12 equivalent level will be determined. A weighted average grade will be determined using an equal weight for each course. Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) Program Graduates or Students 58. If the applicant has completed or will have completed the ACE Certificate program (4 courses) prior to the start of College classes, a weighted average grade will be calculated using the grades awarded in the ACE program. If ACE grades are not yet available, for each course not complete at the time of application a default grade of 70% will be used. An additional 10 points will be added to the calculated average if all four courses have been completed successfully. Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) Program and Secondary School Mix 59. If the applicant has a mix of secondary school courses and ACE courses, the average grade for all level three and level four courses - applying the weighting factor for secondary school courses listed above - and ACE grades will be calculated. If a grade is not available for an ACE course, a default grade of 70% will be used. As well, the ACE program coordinator will be contacted to confirm that the applicant continues to actively participate in the ACE courses. No Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) Program Or Secondary School

6 Applicants who have no secondary school record and who have taken ACE courses but have not been awarded and are not eligible for an ACE certificate will be considered for admission to preparatory programs only. 60. The selection process for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program and other collaborative programs will use programspecific academic criteria other than the average grade described above. These criteria will be published by the College. 61. All applicants whose applications were received by the application equal-consideration deadline and who were prioritized according to the Ministry residency/citizenship criteria will be collectively ranked, from highest to lowest, on the basis of the calculated weighted average grades. Offers of admission will be made starting with the top candidate and proceeding down the list until the spaces in the program have been filled. 62. The Office of the Registrar shall maintain a reasonable waiting list for each oversubscribed program until the last day for registration. The wait list will be established on a first-come basis. Unsuccessful Applicants 63. Consistent with Ministry guidelines, Lambton College provides applicants who feel that they have been inappropriately or unfairly denied admission a means to appeal the admission decision through written application to the Office of the Dean of the program. The required appeal form may be obtained from and, when completed, returned to the Office of the Registrar for forwarding to the Office of the Dean.
