4 Introduction main title A model of success A galaxy of services OVH offers a wide range of services related to web infrastructures, cloud resources and website hosting. The French group stands out from the competition as it has total control of the production chain, from designing and manufacturing its own servers to taking care of the maintenance of its datacentres and customer support. The family had very little money at the time, but a motivation of steel. A few years on in 1999, their two sons, Octave and Miroslaw, began to study engineering in France, at ICAM in Lille. The internet had reached boiling point and it was then when Octave, the eldest, decided to take advantage of the obvious gains of computing. Each member of the tribe put their skills to work and the company immediately began to grow. To support OVH s development, the Klabas soon acquired premises in Roubaix in Northern France. This site, which now expands across two hectares, would go on to home the head office and OVH s first datacentres. The company continued to grow at an alarming speed and the profits were immediately reinvested back into the business to develop it further.

By evacuating 70% of the heat emitted by the processor, this technique enabled OVH to cut its energy costs in half.
