1 The credit union philosophy is People Helping People. What should credit unions do to make this philosophy relevant to students? The purpose of this scholarship is to educate our members about credit unions and to assist our members in their financial dreams of obtaining a college education. ELIGIBILITY 1. Student must be a University Credit Union member in good standing. Not a currently a member?contact us today to join. 2. Full-time undergraduate student who currently attends an accredited college or university. University seniors must be accepted in graduate school. 3. Full-time student who has been accepted and scheduled to attend a university or college. 4. Graduate student who currently attends an accredited college or university. 5. Current GPA 3.0 or higher (based on last grading period) 6. Previous UCU scholarship recipients ineligible for 18 months after last scholarship awarded. 7. UCU employees, volunteers, and their immediate family or household members are ineligible. 8. Submission packets containing all the requirements must be delivered to University Credit Union by January 31, APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS 1. Visit and download and complete the application. The application will include: a. Education experience b. Work experience c. Community service involvement and/or volunteer work d. Activities & Awards e. Educational & Career Goals 2. An original essay of no more than 1,000 words or a video on the topic, The credit union philosophy is People Helping People. Submit letter of acceptance if not currently attending college or university. 5. Submit a copy of most recent transcript. 6. 2 AMOUNT OF AWARD One scholarship for $2,000 and five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded for a total of $7,000. Awards will be paid directly to the recipients schools. APPLICATION DEADLINE University Credit Union must receive completed application, transcripts and essay or video no later than January 31, All submitted applications will be reviewed for compliance with application requirements by the Scholarship Committee of University Credit Union. AWARDING OF SCHOLARSHIPS The essays and videos will be judged on quality, originality and content. The winners will be notified by phone and by and will be awarded at University Credit Union s Annual Meeting held on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 and scholarships awarded in May, SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM APPLICATION (Please type or print clearly.) Attach an original essay up to 1,000 words in length, preferably double-spaced typed. Or, you can submit a 90 second video responding to the question above. 5 VIDEO ESSAY RULES: Submit a 90-second video on a CD-ROM disk and mail it along with all the required paperwork to UCU. Videos may not be larger than 100MB and must be in one of the following formats: WMV, AVI, MOV or MPG. Entrants must provide all of the information requested or their entries are void. One entry per member. University Credit Union will not disclose your last name, phone number, or address to any outside entity. That information will be used only to determine eligibility and distribute prizes. Completed entries must be postmarked by January 31, By entering, participants represent and warrant to University Credit Union that the submitted video is the participant s own original work; that the participant is the sole owner of the video and all of the rights associated with it; that the video does not violate any rights of others; and that the video does not display any inappropriate material. University Credit Union and its agencies are not responsible for incomplete, damaged, destroyed, delayed, stolen, misdirected or illegible video entries. Video entry materials that have been tampered with or altered are void. University Credit Union is not responsible for the use of copyrighted material such as music, images or video. Once submitted, video entries become the sole property of University Credit Union and will not be returned. By entering, participants release and hold harmless University Credit Union, their respective affiliates, directors, officers, employees, attorneys, and representatives from any and all liability for any injuries, loss, claim, action, demand or damage of any kind arising from participation in the Contest. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by the Official Rules and the decisions of the judges, which shall be final. Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received. Taxes are the sole responsibility of the scholarship winner. [ 5 ]

I agree to permit the review of this application and my school records by anyone representing the UCU Scholarship Committee. Sworn statement: I swear that the attached essay/video is my original work and all other personal information is true. I understand all submitted materials become the property of University Credit Union for whatever use it deems appropriate. I agree to cooperate with University Credit Union in promotional activities related to the scholarship competition and should I be selected as a winner, give them permission to use my name and photo in promotions and activities.
