3 BASEL CONVENTION a)regulations for Hazardous Wastes Management Currently No Law in Brunei Darussalam - Pollution Control Guidelines on Industrial Development in Negara Brunei Darussalam -Hazardous Waste Control Order has been drafted and is being refined- ready by mid of 2011 Procedures are in line with the requirement of Basel Convention export/import and transit of hazardous and toxic wastes

5 BASEL CONVENTION b)definition of Hazardous Wastes (Brunei Darussalam) Toxic, Hazardous and Difficult Wastes is defined in the Negara Brunei Darussalam Master Plan: Part 11 Solid Wastes Management as any matter prescribed to be scheduled waste, or any matter whether in a solid, semisolid or liquid form, or in the form of gas or vapour which is emitted, discharged or deposited in the environment in such volume, composition or manner as to cause pollution
6 Hazardous waste is also identified as scheduled waste, which is defined as any waste falling within the categories of waste listed in the Fourth Schedule of the Draft Hazardous Waste Control Order for Negara Brunei Darussalam. BASEL CONVENTION
