1 2015 Track Rules and Classes Track Officers: Jimmy Babcock - Track Owner Matt Murphy - Track President and Track Prep Crew Fred Barbarossa - Track Vice President and Track Prep Crew Position Available - Track Technical Inspection Official The Dirt Oval at Hot Rod Hobbies is a privately owned business that operates a family friendly RC Racing Facility. Great efforts are made to provide racers with the best facility possible, including a clean well lit pit area, and a well prepared race track. The Dirt Oval at Hot Rod Hobbies "RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE TO ANYONE". If we feel a racer and his/her actions are detrimental to our business, our sport or our racing community, we can and will refuse race entry and participation in our racing events. ***Final Decisions regarding rules interpretations are solely at the discretion of the Track Officers*** Fun Classes: These Classes are intended to be fun, with a lower cost to compete. The goal in mind is to offer the best, closest racing possible for the least amount of money. We want our racers to experience good, close, competitive racing, while promoting camaraderie and sportsmanship. These classes are open to all racers, but veteran/expert racers are advised that they need to be understanding of the incidental contact that can occur with lesser experienced racers. There is no room for bad attitudes or poor sportsmanship in these classes. Contact will happen, and it needs to be expected. Obviously, rough driving and purposefully hitting other cars is highly frowned upon, but we all need to be mindful that we are choosing to participate in FUN Classes and some contact may occur. Street Stock and Sport Modified are our two SPEC Classes designed to be cheap and easy to compete in. Expert Classes: These classes are intended to be competitive, and allow purpose built racing chassis and components. The goal is to offer our veteran/expert racers a class to race competitively with other racers of similar experience levels. These classes are less restrictive, with higher costs to compete. These classes are the premier divisions at our track and will be where the newer racers can watch and learn how to race at a high level, with respect, integrity, and sportsmanship. The newer racers will look up to YOU, the veteran racer, so please help us by setting a great example. Rough DIRT OVAL at HOT ROD HOBBIES Page 1 of 7

2 driving and purposeful contact is not permitted, and veteran racers know better. We will take necessary actions to prevent rough driving. Racers Code of Conduct We have a No Tolerance Policy. This facility is a Family Friendly facility, and all racers must control their behavior accordingly. There will be no fighting, no alcohol or drugs, no use of foul language, no arguing with Track Officials or fellow competitors, and no cheating. If anyone is caught conducting any of the above mentioned, or is in any way associated with these activities, you will be disqualified and asked to leave the premises immediately! You will forfeit your entry fee. All participants will treat other drivers, marshals, & spectators with RESPECT. We promote a family atmosphere of fun. Please refrain from loud profanity or inappropriate discussions. If a person beside you can hear it, it is too loud. It is the driver s responsibility to know and abide by the class rules/specifications. Class specifications are posted on the Tracks Facebook page and can be found in the scoring booth at the track. Report any rule infractions to management. Politely discuss any disagreements with other drivers after you have finished your race and marshaled. Management will gladly arbitrate for any disagreements. Refrain from physical confrontations. Both/all racers involved will be barred from the track for a minimum of 90 Days. Racers Expectations During all practice and race times, drivers must maintain control of their RC vehicles. Safety is the responsibility of each and every one of us. Once Heat Sheets or Main Event Sheets are posted, it is the driver s responsibility to check to make sure that you are registered in the correct class. Generally, we race two (2) qualifiers and a main event in each racing division on each race day/night. All classes will qualify 6 cars directly into the A-Main events, and will have the top two finishers in lower A-Mains bump up to the next highest main. Drivers will have two minutes after the announcement of a qualifier or main to get their car/truck onto the track and in position to start the race. Heat races will always be started rolling at speed, and using IFMAR style timing. The race director will tell all racers to get their cars up to speed and once all racers are at speed, the race will be started and racers will be told The loop is live. After the tone, the next time that each racer crosses the line, each racer s own individual 4 minute clock will start. Practice good sportsmanship during a race. Slower cars should move up to allow clearly faster cars to pass without blocking. Do not intentionally wreck another competitor. Realize that most wrecks are caused by poor judgment. We have all made bad decisions during a race. Do not yell or complain about marshaling. Remember, if you wouldn t have messed up in the first place, you wouldn t have needed a marshal. Any driver who notices poor marshaling should report it to management. Management will discuss issues and procedures with marshals if necessary. Upon the completion of a qualifier or main, drivers must place their vehicle on the post race Tech Table. If a driver DNF's a qualifier (does not finish), they DIRT OVAL at HOT ROD HOBBIES Page 2 of 7

3 must place their car/truck on the Tech Table even if it s broken. Failure to place your vehicle on the Tech Table after a qualifier or main will result in a five-lap penalty subtracted from your best qualifier or main. If a vehicle violates class specs during a qualifier, the driver will be warned once and disqualified upon the second violation of the same spec. A driver will be disqualified from his/her main upon the first and subsequent offenses. Repeated class violations will result in the driver being banned from the class. All drivers are required to marshal or find a qualified substitute. Racers must marshal the next race after finishing your race. Failure to marshal will result in a three lap penalty from your last run. The announcer will call each driver s name to make sure marshals are in place. Drivers and substitutes are asked to raise their hand when the driver s name is called. If you are not in place by the end of the roll call, you will be penalized. In the event that a racers vehicle breaks during a qualifier or main event, that racer is required to stay on the drivers stand until the race is over. This is an important part of racer etiquette that is not taught often enough. Marshal Guidelines Immediately after your race, drivers are required to position themselves around the track at one of the pre determined turn marshalling positions. Racers under 12 years of age may not marshal for safety reasons. Parents or Volunteers are asked to marshal for the younger racers. At times, volunteer marshals are needed to properly marshal a race. Please be helpful and quickly volunteer to marshal when needed. Use common sense and good safety practices when marshaling. Be alert and pay attention to your area of marshaling instead of the race. Look before running out onto the track. Don t cause a wreck by trying to dash out in front of cars. If a vehicle is broke, turn it off and set the vehicle down in a safe location. A marshal can make minor repairs on a vehicle such as snapping ball cups back on, securing bodies and/or antennas, etc. Under no circumstances is a marshal allowed to leave his/her area of responsibility unattended until the race is complete.
