You lift the mask wipe your brow and lay down the gun and rod. A satisfied smile comes to your face. Another tidy join. Time to clean up and get back to the computer-aided design files to check what s next. Sparks are flying in our Manufacturing and Engineering courses for all the right reasons. Whether you want to work with metal, in mechanics or innovative product design, or understanding how to draft structural building desings, we have a course for you and your passion. You ll join an industry that will challenge you every day, whether you re designing, installing, repairing or manufacturing products, or working in mechanical engineering, air-conditioning or electrical services. Your career could lead you to work with 3D printers, motor vehicles, medical equipment, aircraft or in factories. At Hunter TAFE you can specialise in the following areas: Drafting Electrical and Electronics Manufacturing and Industrial Design Metals and Mechanical Engineering Rail THOMAS CRITTENDEN, CERTIFICATE III IN ENGINEERING FABRICATION TRADE As a struggling school student Tom came to Hunter TAFE in 2012 as a sheet metal fabrication apprentice with Quality Sheet Metal. Since them Tom has truly found his passion and has become one of the best young talents in the industry. His hard work and refined skills took him to Brazil to compete in the 2015 International WorldSkills competition, qualifying after winning Gold in the Australian competition. 3 BUILDING DESIGN The design of residential houses and commercial projects takes great skill, thought and technical knowhow. Building designers work with architects and engineers to develop working drawings and building plans for new constructions and renovations. Qualifications in Building or Landscaping Design could lead to a number of rewarding employment options as a landscape designer, building designer, construction designer, architectural draftsperson or a project manager. These courses provide industry recognised qualifications with a practical application of skills and knowledge using use of computer-aided drafting (CAD) and traditional drafting techniques. ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING AND ELECTRONICS Power stations, heavy machinery and renewable energy farms all require the expertise of professionals with advanced electronics and electrical skills in order to operate safely and efficiently. This career path is well suited to people who like enjoy problem solving and working with their hands.
