IMO PSPC For water ballast tanks The IMO MSC.215(82) PSPC for water ballast tanks is a standard designed to achieve a target coating lifetime of 15 years in dedicated seawater ballast tanks and double side-skin spaces of bulk carriers. For crude oil tanks The PSPC for cargo oil tanks of crude oil tankers (IMO Resolution MSC.291(87), adopted on 14 May 2010) is a standard designed to achieve a target coating lifetime of 15 years in cargo oil tanks of newly constructed crude oil tankers greater than 5,000dwt where; the building contract is placed on or after 1st January 2013 or, in the absence of a building contract, the keels of which are laid or which are at a similar stage of construction on or after 1st July 2013, or the delivery of which is on or after 1st January New Intershield 300HS Same performance, lower VOC Developed to help both owners and shipyards comply with local VOC emissions regulations, Intershield 300HS is a breakthrough, low VOC (volatile organic compound), high solids formulation which delivers the same outstanding corrosion control the shipping industry has come to expect from Intershield 300.

4 Reduced maintenance Today s costs of drydocking, off-hire time and steel replacement, along with the need to extend in-service periods, make it imperative to reduce coating maintenance requirements wherever possible. Intershield 300 s unique balance of abrasion resistance and corrosion control, with over 9% aluminium content, sets it apart from other epoxy technologies, significantly reducing the level of maintenance required to maintain the integrity of the coating system. Applied directly over approved shop primer or suitably prepared bare steel, Intershield 300 delivers abrasion resistance on the underwater hull, protection against wear and tear on external decks and hatch covers, maintains structural integrity in cargo holds and provides long term corrosion protection in the water ballast tanks. 5 Increased shipyard productivity At newbuilding block stage, different primers are often specified for different areas. Used as a universal primer, Intershield 300 eliminates this complexity. Applied to all block sections, Intershield 300 replaces several products with a single product, simplifying application whilst reducing costs and waste. In addition, its low temperature cure and flexible overcoating intervals allow year-round application and improve shipyard productivity throughout the coating process. As Intershield 300 is applicable over prepared shop primers there are no additional surface preparation or application costs incurred. 6 Proven 15 year performance Since its introduction in 1988, Intershield 300 has successfully provided outstanding corrosion protection on over 12,000 vessels at newbuilding and maintenance and repair. Not only was the product awarded the first Lloyd s Register IMO PSPC type approval certificate but also independent verification proves that it protects beyond legislative compliance. Following the inspection of the Eleranta bulk carrier, Lloyd s Register rated the condition of the coating in the double bottom tanks as good after 15 years in service solid evidence of its durability to meet and exceed the requirements of the IMO PSPC. The cleaning of the areas to reveal the true nature of the coatings beneath was impressive. Superintendent, Eleranta V Ships (UK) Ltd. Samco Raven Intershield 300 has also shown excellent performance on the Samco Raven. Built in 1996, this crude oil tanker has had her tanktops and deckheads protected with Intershield 300 for over 15 years with minimal repairs Intershield 300 is set to continue protecting the cargo oil tanks, delivering excellent performance.
