License in Pharmacy La Sapienza University of Rome Master Degree in Pharmacy La Sapienza University of Rome Scientific activities Over the last 20 years, the main interests of Prof. Gismondi's have been focused on many aspects of NK cell biology and more recently on their role in pregnancy. She focused her attention on understanding the intracellular signaling pathways triggered by several surface activation/adhesion receptors and their involvement in the regulation of NK cell functions. She first demonstrated that integrins on NK cells can function not only as adhesion receptors but also as signaling molecules. More recently, she has been interested in analyzing the molecular events involved in the control of human NK cell migration and tissue localization, the relationships between circulating and tissue resident NK cells and the role played by specific tissue microenvironment in the modulation of NK cell phenotypic and functional profile. The results obtained by Prof. Gismondi has been published in highly qualified international journals and presented at many national and international scientific congresses. Prof. Gismondi is recipient of grants from several research agencies including MIUR, CNR, Ministry of Health and participant in projects funded by AIRC and the European Union.
