2 Social footprinting Workshop 26 January 10:00 16:30 Attendees will learn with hands-on experience how they can measure the social footprint of their products or services, and how to assess potential social hotspots in supply chains. The methodology developed by the Roundtable for Product Social Metrics and the Social Hotspots Database will be used. The training will include discussion and practical exercises to illustrate the application of these tools. 3 IO and Hybrid Life Cycle Assessment Workshop 27 January 10:00 16:30 Course on input-output (IO) and hybrid LCA. The included subjects are: Basic Input-Output Analysis and life cycle assessment theory, data for basic and advanced IO-analysis, hybrid IO-tables, methods for trade-linking and multi-regional IO-models, application areas and communication of IO models and results. The learning outcomes are: Understanding of the methods for input-output and hybrid analysis, understanding of the difference between different modelling approaches and their implications for the modelled system, experience with using IO and hybrid models in LCA software (SimaPro), and knowledge on the application areas of IO and hybrid LCA as well as on the limitations of the approach. 4 Modelling Indirect Land-Use Changes LCA Workshop 28 January 10:00 16:30 According to IPCC, 8% of global GHG emissions are related to land use changes. However, in LCA these emissions are often excluded or included in a way that does not represent cause-effect relationships. This workshop will give a thorough introduction to the subject of land use and land use changes and how to model it in LCA. The learning outcomes are: Understanding of the causal relationship between land use and land use changes, understanding of how to interpret LCA results when iluc is included and not, knowledge on how to apply iluc models. 5 The trainers João Fontes holds a MSc. in Environmental Science and a BSc. in Information Technology. He is familiar with the culture of private companies, the non-profit sector and academic institutions. Since 2009 at PRé, João has been working with focus on human element in sustainability issues. He has participated in projects related to overall sustainability assessments, CSR and social sustainability. João is member of the Measurement Science Working Group at The Sustainability Consortium. He also started up the Roundtable for Product Social Metrics, engaging with large scale corporations to develop and share a methodology for measuring social sustainability at product level, and to support the application of this methodology at companies Catherine Benoit Norris has over 10 years of experience in sustainability research and global compliance conducting work at the intersection of environmental management; life cycle assessment; social sciences and business administration. She directed and coordinated research for leading sustainability centers (CIRAIG, The Sustainability Consortium). She assesses supply chain social impacts, conducts human rights due diligence and advises strategic management and engagement with global corporations in several sectors including footwear and apparel, retail, consumer products, mining and metals and agriculture. Catherine has years of expertise in international sustainability initiatives involving external stakeholders. Jannick H. Schmidt is an environmental management engineer from Aalborg University. He obtained his Ph.D. in 2007 with a study on life cycle assessment of rapeseed oil and palm oil. He holds an assistant professorship at Aalborg University. Main areas of expertise and experience are life cycle assessments of agricultural products and waste management systems, and development of LCA methodology regarding system delimitation, LCIA methods for biodiversity and Input-Output-based LCA..
