7 4 Assembling the Mobile Processing Station Mobile Processing Station Base Frame Ordered with Individual Components If you ordered the standard or mini processing station as a base frame with selected individual processing components, the mobile processing station framework arrives in one box and the components and optional equipment arrive separately. The instructions below describe the assembly of the processing station and components. Part is the ReadyKart three-shelf frame. Part is the ReadyKart Mini three-shelf frame. Preconfigured Mobile Processing Station If you ordered the fully configured standard or mini mobile processing station, your processing station arrives assembled. If you also ordered optional components, the instructions below describe the assembly of those optional components. Part is the preconfigured ReadyKart with three shelves. Part is the ReadyKart Mini with three shelves. Assembly Steps Follow these steps to assemble your mobile processing station. Consult Figure 1 to clarify instructions. Install Bag Holder Arm 1 Remove the mobile processing station and components from their shipping boxes. 2 Place the polypropylene shelves into the middle and top shelf positions. (See the Description of Components on page 4 to learn about shelf configuration.) The shelves are supported by the shelf lips at each shelf level. If you configured your shelves to hold a bin, place the bin into the mobile processing station. 3 On the bag holder arm support, remove the glide insert screw (Figure 3). 4 Insert the bag holder arm into the arm support by pulling out the locking pin and inserting the bag holder arm into the support. Release the locking pin. Fit the plastic glide insert into the arm support with the hole facing the screw. Screw the glide insert screw back into place. 5 Repeat this procedure to install a second bag holder arm (if ordered) on standard mobile processing stations. Rotate the Bag Holder You can adjust the position of the bag holder on the bag holder arm so bags face away from, toward, or to the side of the processing station. Press the locking pins on the bag holder arm, lift the bag holder off the arm, rotate the holder to the desired position, and slide the bag holder back onto the top of the arm (Figure 4). If ordered, install the bag protector plate by hooking it over the top of the bag holder. Instructions AB 7

Changing the orientation of the bag holder Install the Filter Holder Rod Remove the plastic cap from the square steel tubing at one of the four corners of the processing station. Insert the square base of a filter holder rod into the square tube. Repeat for additional filter holder rods. Install filter clamps on the filter holder rods as needed to hold filters in place. 8 Instructions AB
9 Install the Stackable Shelf Module If you ordered and want to use the stackable shelf module to add two additional shelves, first remove any installed filter holder rods. Remove the plastic caps from the square tubing at each corner of the cart. With an assistant, lift and place the four legs of the stackable shelf module into the square tubing at each corner of the cart. Docking Carts Together You can dock mobile processing stations together to form a train of processing stations. You can dock mini carts to either side of a standard cart, and you can dock multiple mini carts together. You cannot dock two standard carts together. To dock two carts, position the side of a mini cart without the push handle up against the push handle side of another cart. The handle and the plastic endplate of the second cart will fit inside the framework of the mini cart. Lock the wheels on both carts so the carts do not move during processing. Route tubing and cables between the carts using the holes in the plastic endplates. Preventing Equipment Damage Avoid contact between sodium chloride (NaCl) solutions and the stainless steel components of the mobile processing station. Clean stainless steel parts contacted by sodium chloride. Repassivate stainless steel parts if you observe corrosion. Do not use abrasive cleaners on any of the mobile processing station parts. Storing polypropylene shelves by leaning them up against a wall can cause the shelves to warp. Always store polypropylene shelves by laying them on a flat surface. Plastic components such as the trays, bins, and the blue endplate are not autoclavable. 5 Using the Processing Station Safely Before using the GE Healthcare ReadyKart mobile processing station, you should read, understand, and follow the instructions in this guide. Save these instructions and make them available to users of the mobile processing station. WARNING IMPORTANT FOR SAFETY To prevent injury, follow these safety procedures: Lock the casters during use to prevent movement that could disconnect tubing or cables. Lock the casters when the mobile processing station is not in use to prevent unintended movement. Do not hang more than 20 liters of fluid on a bag holder arm to prevent injury from the processing station tipping over. To prevent the processing station tipping over, do not use a filter holder rod or bag holder arm on stackable shelf module when the module is installed on a ReadyKart. Instructions AB 9
10 Do not move the processing station by pulling on a bag holder arm or filter holder rod. Moving the station this way could cause the processing station to tip over resulting in injury. Use the built-in push handle when moving the processing station. Do not adjust the height of bag holder arms when fluid filled bags are mounted. Adjusting the bag holder arms with full bags in place could result in pinching injury from the uncontrolled lowering of the bag holder. Do not exceed the maximum operating load of the mobile processing station to prevent injury from structural failure. (See maximum operating loads in Specifications on page 12. Do not allow bags in use to hang over the side rails. Hanging bags over the side of the station could promote tipping, damage to a bag, or the bag falling from the cart. Unplug and secure pumps, sensors or other electrical equipment before moving the mobile processing station to prevent equipment damage. Do not use the processing station for purposes other than those stated in these instructions to prevent injury from unanticipated functioning. Always use two people when mounting or removing heavy components (such as the stackable shelves or bins) to prevent dropping heavy components or strain injuries from lifting heavy components. Support and route tubing, signal cables, and electrical cables thoughtfully and neatly using the cable routing holes in the plastic endplate. Careless routing of cables can result in operator entanglement or tripping leading to injury. Careless routing can also lead to equipment or product damage due to accidental disconnecting of process lines or equipment cables. 6 Cleaning and Storage To clean the ReadyKart mobile processing station, remove all bags, trays, bins, and other processing equipment such as pumps and controllers from the shelves. Move the cart to a cleaning area. Hose down the cart with water. Ensure that you lift the shelves and hose down the shelf lips and the bottom of the shelves. Dry the processing station with a clean absorbent cloth. Inspect the station for damage or wear. Store it in a dry location away from vehicle traffic to protect it from damage. 10 Instructions AB
