2 New World Wealth, the wealth intelligence company behind the first worldwide study on the most visited hotels for the super-rich now introduces the top rated hotels for the super-rich. During this study, we asked a panel of selected global multi-millionaires which the best hotels in the world were based on their own personal experience. Our sample included wealthy individuals from all over the world. The world famous Plaza Hotel in New York received the most votes and therefore topped the global list. The Bellagio in Las Vegas was second. Interesting findings: The bulk of the hotels listed are relatively small. Of the top 10, only the Plaza, the Mandarin Oriental, the Burj Al Arab and the Bellagio have more than 150 rooms. The Mandarin Oriental is the top rated hotel in the UK and Europe. La Mamounia is the top rated hotel in Africa. Raffles Singapore is the top rated hotel in Asia.

3 Africa focus The regional top 10 for Africa is reflected below. La Mamounia in Morocco topped the Africa list. Ngorongoro Crater Lodge in Tanzania was second. 4 Interesting findings: Africa received approximately 32,000 multi-millionaire visitors in the 12 months to June South Africa was the most popular African destination for the super-rich, with over 12,000 multimillionaires visiting the country during the period. Major destinations for them within South Africa include: Cape Town, Johannesburg, Umhlanga, Franschoek, Stellenbosch, Kruger Park (mainly around Sabi Sands) and the Garden route (mainly around Knysna). Major destinations for them outside of SA include: Marrakech in Morocco, Casablanca in Morocco, Cairo in Egypt, Nairobi in Kenya, the Serengeti in Tanzania, Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt, the Masai Mara in Kenya, Livingstone in Zambia and the Okavango Swamps in Botswana. Gorilla safaris in the Virunga Mountains (in and around Uganda) are also popular. UK focus The regional top 10 for the UK is reflected below. The Mandarin Oriental in London topped this list. The Ritz in London was second. It is interesting to note that the bulk of the hotels listed are relatively small, with under 100 rooms. Interesting findings: The UK received approximately 83,000 multi-millionaire visitors in the 12 months to June Major destinations for them within the UK include: London, Edinburgh, Bath, Oxford, Cambridge, Manchester and several small towns in South East England (including Ascot, Windsor, Marlow, Henley and Bray).

5 Supplement: The rise of hotel residences Hotel residences refer to apartments/villas in existing hotels which can be purchased. They essentially allow owners to live in a hotel permanently and enjoy the same services as normal guests do (i.e. room service, dining, cleaning). Originally a New York phenomenon, the hotel residence trend has started to catch in the other major cities and holiday hotspots around the world. Hotel residences are often hard to identify such as One Hyde Park in London - the apartments there are essentially hotel residences serviced by the Mandarin Oriental next door. Hotel residences have become increasingly popular among the super-rich over the past decade for a number of reasons including: Appeal to those that travel a lot - facilities are maintained whether one is there or not. Access to services room service, cleaning. Access to facilities pool, spa, entertainment, dining. Excellent security. Reception having a proper reception has various advantages, especially when it comes to visitors and deliveries. Unsurprisingly, hotel residences sell at a premium to normal apartments. 6 Interesting findings: The St Regis, the Mandarin Oriental, the Four Seasons, the Conrad Hilton and the Ritz Carlton all have hotel residences in multiple cities/towns around the world. Notable hotel residences currently under construction include: the Surf Club Four Seasons in Miami Florida and the Mandarin Oriental Residences in Bodrum, Turkey and Herzliya, Israel. Notes & definitions: Multi-millionaires refer to individuals with net assets of US$10 million or more.
