2 Introduction to Plutonio Plutonio is a new low sulphur (0.36% wt.) medium gravity (33.2ºAPI) crude oil from Angola s deepwater block. The Greater Plutonio development area comprises of five oil fields called Plutonio, Galio, Paladio, Cromio and Cobalto from water depths of around 1300 metres. These are all located within 20km of each other and form the Plutonio crude blend. Samples have shown these five fields to be very similar in quality. Production commenced in September 2007 and quickly ramped up to in excess of 200 kbpd Soyo Luanda 50 km 19 6 Luanda ANGOLA Galio Galio Cromio Cromio Paladio Paladio Cobalto Cobalto Plutonio Plutonio The Angolan deep water region is a world class hydrocarbon basin. Considerable exploration success has been achieved in the deep water blocks 15, 17 and in block where BP is the operator. BP also operates the ultra-deep water Block 31 which at the time of publishing has yielded thirteen exploration successes. The Greater Plutonio area is being developed and operated by BP who have a 50% equity interest in the project. The remaining 50% is owned by SSI. Oil is exported via a dedicated FPSO (Floating Production Storage & Offtake) vessel, loading through its own remote offloading buoy close to the production platform. Storage on the FPSO is 1.74 mmbbls. Transportation and trade Crude export parcel sizes are 1 million barrels. The buoy has the capacity to accept either Suez Max or VLCC vessels for combi-cargoes both as first or second cargo loads. With peak production in excess of 200 kbpd, a cargo is available approximately every five days. Angola is ideally positioned to serve both the Atlantic Basin and Pacific Rim markets. 3 Refining properties Overview of qualities Plutonio is a medium gravity, sweet crude with an API of 33.2 and a sulphur content of 0.36% wt. The crude has a low acidity of 0.15 mgkoh/g and a pour point of 6 C. The following chart compares Plutonio with some other grades. Its sulphur level is similar to Girassol and Kissanje, with a higher pour point and a lower acidity and density. It has a similar distillation yield to grades such as Girassol and Kissanje. 4 Naphtha/reformer feed The yield of heavy Naphtha is shown in the chart opposite and is about 13% vol. The quality of the heavy naphtha produced by Plutonio has an N+2A number of over 65 (the N+2A number is shown on the columns of the yield graph). Although the N+2A is lower than Girassol or Kissanje, the yield of the naphtha produced is higher. Plutonio produces a good quality feedstock that will assist in meeting typical jet fuel specifications. The sulphur level is low at 0.2%, lying between Girassol and Kissanje. The cetane is higher and the density lower than these grades, making Plutonio a good crude for diesel manufacture.

5 CCR (% wt) Cracking feedstock The chart opposite shows the yield and sulphur content of the VGO cut ( C). Plutonio offers a high yield of VGO at 26% vol, with a sulphur level similar to Girassol and Kissanje at 0.47% Conradson Carbon Nitrogen Yield (vol%) Nitrogen (ppm wt) 5 0 FCC feed ( C / F) Yield Sulphur The Conradson Carbon level of Plutonio for the cracker feedstock is around 0.17% wt and lies between Girassol and Kissansje, while the nitrogen content is slightly higher at about 1600ppm. sulphur (%wt) Residue The properties of Plutonio vacuum residue (550 C+/1022 F+) are tabulated below. The sulphur content of the residue is 0.88% and therefore will be suitable for manufacture of 1% low sulphur fuel oil. The vacuum residue viscosity is around 1000 cst at 100 C and will need to be visbroken in order to meet fuel oil specifications.
