3 1 Information of how to address the plants of DAIMLER AG via OFTP 1.1 Instructions If this document was sent to you by fax, the numbers are beginning with 3 of 13. For further ideas of how to improve this documentation, you are welcome to contact our EDI-Customer Support (refer to the contact addresses). Best Regards, EDI-Customer Support 1.2 Required activities for new users of EDI or announcement of changes If you are planning to start EDI with Daimler AG or if you want to change existing EDI connections using OFTP (via X.25 network (Datex-P) or ISDN) please pay attention to the following steps. 1. The communication parameters which are needed to communicate with DAIMLER AG are being described on the following s. Add these parameters to your system or ask your software provider to do this for you. 2. Fill in the form (on 10) with your Partner Data and fax this form to our EDI-Customer Support: Application Line Automotive Business Connect Services EDI Customer Support Fasanenweg 9 D Leinfelden-Echterdingen Fax If you are going to start your first EDI connection, fill in the form for new users of EDI ( 10) and send this to the fax number of our EDI-Customer Support, too. 4. Afterwards arrange a date with one of our members of the EDI-Customer Support staff to make a test of the connection procedures with the EDICS-Test-System. 5. Testing the connection procedures with the EDICS-Test-System. 6. After the tests have passed successfully and you are ready for EDI communication send the feedback form ( 13) via fax to the EDI-Customer Support. 7. If all tests have passed successfully we can connect you to the EDI of the DAIMLER AG via OFTP and inform the concerned plants of the DAIMLER AG Annotations If there are any changes concerning your communication parameters please send the form Partner Data for OFTP Connections ( 10) to our EDI-Customer Support. To announce EDI which includes additional VDA data formats, please send the form Feedback of Communiction Readiness ( 13) to our EDI-Customer Support of 12

4 1.3 Network Connections CAUTION: The X.25 network addresses of the EDICS systems have a one digit subaddressing. For connecting an EDICS system of the plants Gaggenau or Stuttgart the subaddress "8" has to be added to the linenumbers (refer list of network connection points). To test the connection procedures with the EDICS-Test-System the subaddress "4" must be used. If an EDICS-System connects a communication partner no subaddress is used. Remember this in case of checking the call numbers by your system! Because of increasing the communications of the DAIMLER AG there are alternative line units beside the primary line units. They can be used with the same parameters. These data have to be transmitted immmediately to the specific trading partners (supplier). Therefore it is necessary that your communication system is ready for receiving data all the time. Fill in the form Feedback of Communication Readiness ( 14) when your communication system is ready to communicate and return it to the EDI-Customer Support of 12

7 1.6.1 Annotations Filenames in the SFID The filenames of the transmission files and the receive files (Dataset Names) in the SFID have to match with the following criteria: MBxxx (max 9 digits!!!) the variable digits have been reserved for: xxx 3 digit DAIMLER AG plant number (000, 010, 020, ) Name of the application system of DAIMLER AG (LAB2, NACO, WES, ) The application system names for delivery instructions (LAB2), despatch advices (WES) and invoices (NACO) are valid for most of the plants. The exceptions from this rule are shown in a separate table ( 9). For further application system names ask our EDI-Customer Support ( 11). 9 Filename for transmission procedure test For the transmission procedure test with the EDICS test system the filename W131TEST has to be used! If a file with the filename W131RESEND is sent to the EDICS test system the file will be sent back automatically. To make test transmissions to the plants of DAIMLER AG the application name in the filename has to be TEST (refer to the example of a test transmission to plant Wörth). Such data are not going to be processed Character set Use only the EBCDIC character set to transmit VDA data formats from and to Daimler AG. Use only the ASCII character set (standard UNOA) to transmit ODETTE or EDIFACT data formats from and to Daimler AG Compression and Filerestart ODETTE filetransfer protocol supports data compression and filerestart which are implemented in most EDI products. If you activate these options in the parameters, the EDI data (VDA format) will be compressed with a compression rate of something around 50 to 65 per cent. This means a considerable reduction of transmission costs for you and for us too! If your software product does not support these options please ask your software supplier when these important functionalities will be supported. 1.7 Contact Addresses The contact address for changes, for establishing of new connections or for testing the communication with the communication partners of DAIMLER AG and for troubleshooting, is the EDI-Customer Support (exception: troubleshooting outside the service times of the EDI-Customer Support). Be aware of your specific DAIMLER AG supplier number befor calling the EDI-Customer Support.
