14 1 Basics 1.4 Home Screen How Do I Add or Delete a Screen? 1. Touch and hold on any blank area on a screen. On the option menu that is displayed, touch Thumbnails 3

15 1 Basics 2. Touch the plus sign (+) to add a screen. A maximum of nine screens are supported. 3. Touch the cross (x) in the upper right corner of a blank screen to delete a screen. 4

16 1 Basics 1.5 Contact How Do I Create a Contact? How Do I Import Contacts from or Export Contacts to the SIM Card? How Many Contacts Does My Phone Support? The maximum number of contacts depends on the available phone memory How Do I Create a Contact Group? By default, contacts are stored in the phone memory and SIM card. You can group contacts stored in the phone memory rather than contacts stored in the SIM card. 5

17 1 Basics Three default groups have been created for grouping contacts stored in the phone memory. You can hold on an existing group to rename it, or create another group. Then, you can touch the plus sign (+) to add contacts to a group. 1.6 Text Messages How Do I Send a Text/Multimedia Message? Open Messaging. On the message editing screen, touch to attach a file to the message, or touch and hold on a file to share it in a multimedia message. 6

18 1 Basics How Do I Change the Input Method When Editing a Message? Touch the text box to display the keyboard, and drag the status bar downward to select an input method. 7

19 1 Basics How Do I Forward a Text Message, Send a Text Message to Multiple Recipients, or Save a Text Message as a Draft? How Many Recipients Can I Send a Text Message to? Forwarding a text message: Hold on the text message to be forwarded, and touch the forward button on the displayed option menu. Sending a text message to multiple recipients: In the To text box, enter multiple phone numbers, edit the text message and touch Send. Alternatively, you can touch the SIM card. Saving a text message as a draft: and add multiple contacts stored in the phone memory or Enter the text message and the recipient's phone number, and touch or. The text message is automatically saved as a draft. A text message can be saved as a draft only when the recipient is specified. You can send a text message to a maximum of 100 recipients. 8

20 1 Basics How Do I Set the Message Ringtone and Vibration? To set the message ringtone, touch Settings > Sound > Notification tone > Message. To set the message vibration, touch Settings > Sound, touch Vibrate o set vibration for incoming messages, and touch Vibration intensity to set vibration intensity How Many English Characters and Chinese Characters Are Allowed in a Long Text Message? A text message can contain a maximum of 160 English characters or 70 Chinese characters. A long text message can contain a maximum of 10 text messages. If the message content is longer than 10 text messages, the message will be automatically converted to a multimedia message. The preceding description is true only for China Unicom and Chinese markets. The number of Chinese and English characters that can be contained in a long text message may vary according to market requirements How Many Text Messages Can Be Saved on My Phone? It depends on your phone's storage capacity. To check your phone's storage capacity, touch Settings > Storage > Internal storage. By default, a maximum of 500 text messages can be stored on a phone. The maximum number of text messages can be changed as required. 9

21 1 Basics How Do I Disable the Keystroke Sound? How Do I Identify Received and Sent Messages? The keystroke sound is related to the input method and touch sound. On the input method menu, you can disable the keystroke sound. To disable the touch sound, touch Settings > Sound, and deselect Touch sounds. Sent messages are listed on the right, and received messages are listed on the left. 10

22 1 Basics 1.7 Multimedia Messages How Do I Send a Multimedia Message? When creating a text message, touch to add a subject, or touch to add an attachment. Then the text message is changed to a multimedia message Why Does My Phone Fail to Send or Receive Multimedia Messages? How Do I Solve This Problem? Multimedia messages cannot be received if you do not have sufficient storage available on your phone. To solve this problem, delete unnecessary files to free up some space. 1. Multimedia messages cannot be sent or received if the data service is disabled. To solve this problem, touch Settings > Mobile networks, and select Data enabled. 11

23 1 Basics Is There Any Restriction on File Size, Video Format, or Resolution When I Send a Multimedia Message? 1. If the size of a video or an audio file exceeds the specified size (generally 300 KB), the file cannot be added as an attachment. 2. If a picture is too large, the system automatically decreases the picture resolution and adds it to the multimedia message. The recipient receives a low-resolution picture. 3. Video files in 3GP and AVI formats are supported. When recording a video file for sending a multimedia message, the video resolution is decreased to prolong the video duration. 1.8 Music What Are the Meanings of Artists, Albums, Songs, and Playlists? Artists: people who sing the song. Albums: name of the album that the song belongs to. Songs: music files stored on the phone, excluding the recorded video or audio files. Playlists: You can create a list and add your favorite songs to it. You can play songs in a playlist once or repeat playing the playlist. 12

24 1 Basics How Do I Create a Playlist? 1. Open the music player, touch and hold on the audio file you want to add to a playlist. 2. Touch Add to playlist > New. Name the playlist and touch Save. 13

25 1 Basics What Playing Modes Does My Phone Support? 1. Play in order (by default): play all audio files in a playlist in sequence and stop playing after all the files have been played. 2. Shuffle: play all audio files in the playlist in a random order and stop playing after all the files have been played. 3. Repeat all songs: play all audio files in a playlist in sequence and repeat the playlist in sequence after all the files have been played. 14

29 1 Basics How Do I Import Audio or Video Files from a PC or USB Flash Drive to My Phone? How Do I Export Audio or Video Files to a PC or USB Flash Drive? 1. PC Connect your phone to a PC using the USB cable, select MTP to transfer audio and video files from the PC to your phone, or export audio and video files from your phone to the PC. 2. USB flash drive Your phone must be connected to a USB flash drive using the OTG cable delivered with the phone. After your phone recognizes the USB flash drive, you can see the USB drive icon in the file manager. Then you can import or export files. 1.9 Camera How Do I Import Images or Videos from a PC or USB Flash Drive to My Phone? How Do I Export Images or Videos to a PC or USB Flash Drive? Connect your phone to a PC, select PTP to transfer images or videos. Connect your phone to a USB flash drive using the OTG cable delivered with the phone to transfer images or videos My Phone Cannot Open Some Photos or Videos. Why? 1. The source streaming media is of poor quality. 2. Network connection is faulty when an online streaming media is being played. 3. The phone's hardware may be faulty, for example, the display is damaged. To check this, use another device to play the online streaming media for comparison. 4. The phone memory is insufficient. 5. The CPU usage is high. 6. Too many applications are running Where Are My Photos and Video Clips Saved? How Do I Change the Saving Location? 1. Default saving location: By default, photos are saved to the available microsd card on your phone. If there is no available microsd card, photos are saved to your phone memory. 2. Changing the saving location: If there is no available microsd card, photos are saved to your phone memory. When an available microsd card is inserted, photos are automatically saved to the microsd card. You do not need to change the saving location. 3. Viewing photos or videos on the phone: If the photos or video clips are saved in the phone memory, touch File Manager > Internal > DCIM/Camera. 18

Enter the gallery, select a photo, and touch Edit to edit the photo. You cannot add frames to photos on Huawei Mate Does My Phone Support the HD Video (1080p)? What Frame Rate Does My Phone Support? Huawei Mate supports the HD video (1080p) and a maximum frame rate of 60 Hz Can I Disable the Shutter Sound? The shutter sound cannot be disabled on Huawei Mate Streaming Media Will My Phone Stop Playing Streaming Media When a Call Comes In? If Yes, Will It Resume Playing After the Call Is Ended? 1. The phone stops playing the streaming media when you have an incoming call. 2. After the call is ended, the phone resumes playing the streaming media The Phone Cannot Play Some Streaming Media. Why? 1. The phone does not support the file format. 2. The network connection is unstable. 3. The phone memory is insufficient What Causes Poor Quality of Online Streaming Media Played on My Phone? 1. The source streaming media is of poor quality. 2. The network connection is poor. 3. The phone's hardware may be faulty, for example, the display is damaged. To check this, use another device to play the online streaming media for comparison. 4. The phone memory is insufficient. 5. The CPU usage is high. 6. Too many applications are running Does Playing Online Streaming Media Use the Phone Memory? 31 1 Basics 1.11 Bluetooth My Phone Cannot Be Discovered by Other Devices. Why? What Can I Do? 1. Bluetooth has been turned off. To solve this problem, touch Settings, and turn on the Bluetooth in the WIRELESS & NETWORKS area. 2. The phone is not discoverable after Bluetooth is turned on. To solve this problem, touch System settings, turn on Bluetooth, and touch the name of your phone. 20

Data files such as audio files, video files, photos, contacts, and compressed files can be transmitted using Bluetooth How Do I Share My Phone's Data Connection Using Bluetooth? Ensure that your phone's data services and Bluetooth have been enabled. 1. Touch Settings, and touch More in the WIRELESS & NETWORKS area. The Wireless & networks screen is displayed. 21

34 1 Basics To access your phone's data connection using another phone, pair the phone with your phone. 3. From the paired phone, select your phone and display the device details. Touch Internet access Can I Use Bluetooth to Synchronize Data with a Computer? No Can I Make Calls or Listen to Music Using a Bluetooth Headset? Yes. Turn on the Bluetooth headset, and set it to discoverable. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone, and search for the headset. After the headset is found, pair your phone with the headset. You can then use the headset to make calls or listen to music. NOTE To listen to music, you must use a stereo Bluetooth headset What Is the Bluetooth Working Range? The working range is approximately 10 meters. 23

35 1 Basics My Phone Fails to Pair with Other Bluetooth Devices. Why? 1. The phone fails to find other Bluetooth devices. To solve this problem, check that Bluetooth on other devices is turned on and the devices are set to discoverable. 2. The phone cannot detect a Bluetooth headset. To solve this problem, check that the headset is set to discoverable. For details about how to set the headset, see the headset user guide. 3. The phone cannot connect to other phones when sending files. To solve this problem, check that the phone to be connected is able to receive files and is able to receive files of the sending formats Can I Connect My Phone to a Computer and Access the Internet Using Bluetooth? You can connect your phone to a computer using Bluetooth, but you cannot access the Internet on your phone after the connection is set up How Do I Set Up or Remove an Account? How Do I Send an ? 1. Adding an account When using the application for the first time, set up an account as follows: (Note that using requires Internet access.) a. On the home screen, touch . Touch the service provider you want to use, or touch Others to enter an address and password, and touch Next. b. You can set up an account manually or set the phone to set up an account automatically. 24

37 1 Basics a) On the Account setup screen, enter your address and password, touch Next, and touch IMAP. b) Configure incoming server settings, and touch Next. c) Configure outgoing server settings, and touch Next. d) On the Account settings screen, set Inbox checking frequency, and touch Next. e) On the Account setup screen, enter the name you want recipients to see, name the account, and touch Next. The account is set up, and the inbox screen is displayed. (2) Automatic setup a) On the Account setup screen, enter your address and password, touch Next. b) Follow the onscreen instructions to configure the settings. 2. Deleting an account After creating your initial account, on the inbox screen, touch Settings > Add Account to add more accounts. a. On the inbox screen, touch Settings. b. The phone uses American Global Positioning System (GPS) and Russian Glonoss technology, ensuring accurate positioning How Can I Locate My Position or Use the Navigation Function Quickly? Wireless network location can locate your position quickly. To enable wireless network location, touch Settings > Location access, and select Wi-Fi & mobile network location.
