1 The Implant System The Implant System was developed in Germany by Dr. xel Kirsch in the early 1970 s. is the only major implant system using a shock absorbing intermobile element designed to simulate the periodontal ligament. Two types of implants were made the Original nonhex and the Hex Head external hex (ranemark RP compatible). Original & non-hex Hex Head & external hex - Original - Hex Head Original The original implant was manufactured in two diameters mm and mm. The internal thread of the mm implant is 2.3mm and the mm implant has a 3.0mm internal thread. The external implant body is either titanium plasma sprayed or H coated with hydroxalappetite. The implant body is no longer sold, however, restorative components, such as the IME, IMC, and UM are still available from ttachments International. Hex Head - ranemark RP Compatible The Hex Head implant also manufactured in two diameters mm and mm was added in oth are restoratively compatible with the ranemark Regular Platform implant. The Direct Restorative Components are the elements used to fabricate a restoration that will be connected directly to the implant(s). The Indirect / Intermediate Restorative Components fit to an intermediate tissue extension (abutment) which in turn is connected to the implant(s). Implant ody: The implant body is surgically placed into the bone. One surgical method traditionally involved a two-stage surgery, leaving the implant unloaded in the bone to allow for osseointegration, followed by tissue surgery to uncover the implant before the restorative components are added. nother method, called Immediate Loading, is a one-stage surgery where the abutment and restoration are attached to the implant at the time of implant placement. IME & TIE UM Intermediate Connector / Tissue Extension / IME / TIE: The TE (Tissue Extension) is the intermediate connector between the implant and the restoration, it may extend above the tissue. In some instances, a TE extension is subgingival, to provide a more esthetic restoration. The original tissue extension was the plastic IME (Inter Mobile Element) with the metal TIE. Implant Standardization: The UM tissue extension was developed to standardize the components and instruments for many different implant allowing for an economical inventory and for simplicity of restorative procedures. Its tapered/hexagon fitting surface is identical, regardless of the size or type of implant employed, while its screw-in base is implant specific. 4 Non-Hex & Direct To The Implant Titanium Posts Ti-locs TITNIUM POSTS The direct titanium abutment posts screw into the implant body and are indicated for ridge Restorations only. They may be secured with Teflon tape or thread adhesive. The titanium tapered posts can be altered like a preparation. Fabricate a soft tissue model whenever preparations are made in the laboratory. 5 Non-Hex & Indirect IME butments Titanium Plastic IME with TIE IME COMPONENTS Titanium Plastic Modified IME IME UTMENT IME butments (tissue extensions) are intermediate components made to fit between the implant and the restoration. The IME, in plastic or Titanium, requires the Titanium TIE. The Modified IME, in plastic or Titanium, fits directly to the implant. Restorations can be made on the abutment using abutment cylinders. The UM Healing Cap protects the IME until restoration is delivered. The Impression Coping takes an impression of the abutment and transfers abutment position and thread timing. The nalog is a replica of the abutment and is used for fabrication of a master model. The CSP (Cylinder, Screw & Plug) is used for crown & bridge and bar restorations. 6 Non-Hex & Indirect IMC butment Titanium IMC Connector IMC UTMENTS (Intramobile Connector) The original IMC (Intramobile Connector) consists of a titanium insert and a plastic element (donut). The Ti IMC is a onepiece titanium abutment that replaces the original titanium insert and plastic element. The IMC two-piece impression coping connects to the original plastic IMC or the Ti IMC. The Plastic IMC Element C IMC analog is used to fabricate a working model. Castablemachined plastic cylinders are used in the fabrication of the screw-retained framework. 7 Non-Hex & Compatible Indirect UM butment UM COMPONENTS UM UTMENT The UM butment (tissue extension) is an intermediate component made to fit between the implant and the restoration. The UM has a standardized fitting surface, which allows the UM restorative components to be interchangeable regardless of the implant type. The UM Healing Cap protects the UM until the restoration is delivered. The ridge Tapered UM Impression Coping transfers the UM position while the Hex UM Impression Coping transfers the hex orientation of the UM butment. The UM nalog replicates the UM for the model. The UM Hex or Non-Hex Plastic Cylinders are used to make frameworks for bridges or bars. The UM CL System is used for a passive fit technique. For restorations the fit directly to the implant refer to the UCL System for the specific implant type. To simplify your search, we have selected the most proven and popular systems on this page. For a complete listing of all bar system components, refer to the ar and Clip Quick Reference Charts. Most implant bar restorations involve from 2 to 5 implants. The ideal implant bar system incorporates a bar and retentive clips in the anterior section and locking pin attachments distally for support and stability. The Hader-EDS ar Master kit is the preferred choice. The CM Gold Clips may be used as an alternative. The locking SwissLoc NG ttachment is the preferred distal attachment to prevent lift-off and still provide resiliency. The Lew ttachment is a viable alternative. 11 Non-Hex & Insertion Drivers Tools INSERTION DRIVERS The IO-TORQ (-T) and LT / R Systems were designed to facilitate the insertion of implant components. The IO- TORQ insertion tips may be utilized with the IO-TORQ hand held socket or the IO-TORQ wrenches. The LT / R (latch type) tips are used with right angle handpiece type drivers.
