3 No more sleepless nights At the Wexford Breast Care Center, we understand that the discovery of a breast lump and/or the diagnosis of breast cancer can evoke fear and anxiety. That s why it is reassuring to know the Breast Care Center is there for you every step of the way. We provide a comprehensive range of services including imaging, biopsies, surgical evaluation, operative treatment, radiation and chemotherapy in one convenient location. That means you will get a timely diagnosis and assessment, as well as prompt treatment and follow-up care. What s more, you will quickly feel at ease in our private, relaxing and compassionate environment. Prompt diagnosis and evaluation We use the most current and advanced imaging technologies to detect benign and malignant breast diseases, including digital mammography, 3D tomosynthesis mammography and breast ultrasound. If a breast abnormality or mass is discovered, our expert breast imaging radiologists are skilled in the performance of minimally invasive breast biopsies, such as stereotactic breast biopsy and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. In many instances, you can have a mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy on the same day. Imaging results are available the same day and biopsy results are usually available within three days. Treatment options follow at a later time. Advanced treatment options When care is needed, our multidisciplinary team of breast care specialists uses the latest techniques and technologies to treat your condition. Our surgical, radiation and medical oncologists collaborate to develop an individualized and personalized treatment plan. Through this integrated approach, you will have access and delivery to every possible treatment, procedure and clinical trial that are tailored to your situation. This helps to ensure that you will have the best possible breast cancer outcomes.
4 For your convenience, we offer advanced breast surgical services onsite including: n Lumpectomy n Sentinel node biopsy n Axillary node dissection n Brachytherapy balloon placement Patients who need a mastectomy with reconstruction can access state-of-the-art care at Allegheny General Hospital. We have a Nurse Navigator to coordinate your care Breast cancer care can often be confusing and complicated. To make your breast cancer journey easier, we will assign a nurse navigator to answer your questions, facilitate education and provide guidance and support. Our nurse navigator is specially trained and experienced in breast cancer care. You can count on your nurse navigator to assist you through every phase of breast cancer treatment and follow-up.
