Wet batteries - especially - should never be piled on top of each other. Batteries in new inventory machines should be boost charged. Always charge and load test a suspect battery to determine if replacement is necessary. A key factor for long life is to maintain the charge level. On average, a machine needs to run for minutes to recover from battery drain at start up. A simple and quick voltage test can be made with a digital multi-meter. At every service interval, check for defective cables, loose connections, corrosion, cracked cases, loose hold-downs and loose terminal posts.
