1 Elements of Univ Comp and Comm Scene Title: Study Session at s Transition: <At s house for a study session > General Description: is finishing cooking while hosting a study session with our Student, and. She s a bit nervous, as the in-laws are coming over that evening (on short notice). They talk about the challenges of writing for college courses. Dialogue: I m so glad you all came over. Thanks for letting me cook during our study session. My in-laws told us at the last minute that they re coming over later this evening, and I can really use your moral support! No problem,. Everything smells wonderful; I m sure your in-laws visit will go just fine. Yeah, and I really needed this study session, too. I m a little anxious about my current writing assignment. Maybe I can create a computer program so that my paper writes itself! I could really use some help like that. Writing for college courses sure is challenging. It s challenging, but the reward is well worth the effort., you should take your assignment seriously. I ve found that, in my classes as well as in my marketing and communications field, the quality of your writing really matters. s right. Lots of people fear the writing process, but as long as you re enthusiastic and positive about it, you ll be successful. And, if you need help, just use the CWE. What is the CWE? It s the University s Center for Writing Excellence. You can access it through the University Library. The site offers a variety of resources to help you through the college writing process successfully. There s something for everyone. They even have an English Language Learners section. Sounds like the CWE has a lot of resources for writing help. Why don t we take a look? I can show you around the site.
2 Sounds good. Sorry to duck out, but I have to pick up my daughter from day care. See you later! Bye,. Scene Title: Demonstration with Dialogue: So, let me turn this thing on, and let s take a look at the CWE. <Internet-enabled TV on the wall switches on.> <1CWE> <2GRAMMAR> Wow that s a nice unit,! Thanks. My husband got it for me and the boys. I use it more than they do, though it s really nice to have it in the kitchen! So, how do you get to the CWE? It s easy. First, log in to ecampus and navigate to the University Library. Now, just click the Center for Writing Excellence link. Now, what is the CWE again? Okay. Check out this Skill and Drill link. I ve used this before, and it really improved my writing! See? You can take each quiz to see how well you understand the grammar and writing topics. I usually get at least three right in each one! That is a great example,! To see a comprehensive list of links to tools like these and a wide variety of help offered by the CWE, I suggest clicking on the Tutorials & Guides link under Writing Resources on the CWE home page. Just look at all that s offered at the click of your mouse! Nice! I m going to click through every one of those links later. The CWE is going to help me write all A papers from now on!, I want to find out more about the CWE, but I know you have company coming, so we should go. How about this: Tonight, I ll send you an with a link to the CWE so you can check it out for yourself. And then, let s meet at the coffee shop tomorrow morning to see what you ve learned.
