Welcome to the Instant Induction Crash Course. My name is Igor Alexander Ledóchowski and I m from StreetHypnosis.com. I m really excited to do this training. Why? Because I remember what it s like to be you sitting here watching this right now. When I was about five years old I saw my first stage hypnotist. It was on Spanish television, and I saw people walking up to the stage and with a simple shake of the hand, they were lying on the floor and suddenly they were up and doing all these crazy things. They could see through walls, read people s minds and all kinds of stuff. I ve never forgotten that moment. It taught me that no matter who we are or what we think we are, no matter what limitations are facing us, we can always be so much more. What I d like to do for you during this course is give you the capability to do that with your friends and family for fun and as a genuine force for good, so you can go out there and help others enjoy their lives more. 1. In this course, I m going to show you how to do an instant induction. It s an easy, quick step-by-step and is so impressive that you ll look like a Las Vegas stage hypnotist. 2. Then I ll show you what to do when you get there with some impressive demonstrations that your friends and family will ooh and ahh about. 3. I m going to show you how to do simple hypnotic gifts. 4. These are little pieces of positive energy, if you like that you can give people s minds so they become more confident, happier and maybe even resolve problems in a way that they ve never done before. 5. Finally, we re going to finish up with an insider s secret view of how to really make this work anytime and anywhere. Think of it as a troubleshooting section, where I show you the top five situations where people will make mistakes and think it s failing, where actually they re so close to succeeding. All it requires is the understanding, the application of a simple principle and it will instantly work for you too. These same secrets took me over 10 years to discover. I had to travel halfway around the world to find hypnotists that could do these things. Some of them refused to teach me. It was like a bad dentist pulling teeth. In the end, though, I got what I wanted, and you will too by the end of this program. All these secrets will be revealed to you, stepby-step, easy to understand so that you can do it pretty much the minute you stop watching. What is an instant induction? Copyright

Very simply, someone walks up you ll see this very shortly and with a shake of the hand, a look, a gesture and a simple word like sleep, they trance out instantly. They disappear into a different land, and their mind s ready to roam and explore possibility that they never had before. Why are we focusing on instant inductions in this training? It s very simple. If there s one thing that I could show you to do in a minute or two that contains everything you need to know about hypnosis, an instant induction is it. It teaches you about the context that you need to create, the mindsets, the principles and the psychology. It s all put in there in a very quick, rapid-to-do and fun way. Once you can do instant inductions, you can do any inductions anywhere. That s what we ll be doing today. The first thing I want to do is I m going to demonstrate to you exactly what you ll know how to do. I ll show you how it looks and feels live in action with real people. Next, I m going to break that down step-by-step so that you can do it easily too. We ll work with the mechanics so you feel comfortable with moving people s bodies around. We ll work with the language so you feel comfortable saying the things you need to say. Then we ll with discuss the psychology, the mindset, so you understand the principles that you re putting into action so that no matter what happens, it will always succeed for you. Think of it like a car. A car fundamentally needs a few things, like fuel. If there s no fuel in the car, it s not going to go anywhere. Hypnosis is exactly the same way. The fuel is the principles, the way that you prepare the mind to accept suggestions and respond. If you don t use those principles, then no matter what you do, it will fail. When you know the principles, it doesn t matter how you use it, where you use, when you use or with whom you use it, it will succeed because the right principles are being used. The first thing I m going to ask you to do is just back, relax and enjoy the show. You see, I m going to start by inviting someone in and show you exactly what you ll be doing. There will be a live demonstration with a real human being having the real effects that you ll have having at the end of this training program. Instant Induction Demonstration Igor: Hi, guys. I m here with my friend, Brett, who has very charmingly volunteered to be our subject for the instant induction. Are you ready to do some hypnosis? Brett: Yes. Igor: Come on over here then please. Copyright

Brett: Okay. Igor: Turn around and face me. Take a half a step forward. There you go. That s good. Now look at me. Great! All you have to do is just follow instructions. Do exactly as I say, it will be very easy and a lot of fun. Are you ready for this? Brett: Yes. Igor: Take a deep breath then. Breathe out. A long breath in. Breathe out all the way. That s right. You re doing great relaxing deeper- deeper- deeper. The deeper you go, the more you re relaxed. The more you re relaxed, the deeper you go. The deeper you go, the better you feel all anxieties, all nerves and everything just flooding away. Just drifting comfortably like you re on a cloud going deeper- deeper- deeper now that s it, feel yourself relaxing and feel your mind drifting. Notice how good it feels to do that. That s it. In a moment, I m going to ask you to open your eyes. I want you to know that every time I say the word sleep, close your eyes and go to a state as deep as this or even deeper as relaxing as this and even more relaxing, as comforting as this, and even more comfortable. Nod your head if you understand. Very good. Eyes open. Look at me. Was that not bad, eh? And sleep, all the way. That s it. You re doing a good job. That s it, finding your own balance-deeper and deeper now. More and more comfort, more and more relaxation. You ll notice each time you open your eyes a real thrill of excitement. A real rush of a feel-good feeling will go through your mind, and you ll smile. It feels that good. Nod your head if you understand. Eyes open. How did that feel, pretty good? And sleep, all the way. You re doing good- deeper and deeper now- deeper and deeper. I m going to lift this arm here. Make it strong, stiff and rigid like an iron bar. Lock it tight. Lock it straight down like an iron bar. The harder you try to move it, the more it sticks tighter and tighter. You try to move it and find you cannot. It s locked tight. Try to move it. You cannot. It s locked tight and then stop trying and release. Relax, and go deeper. You did a good job. You re doing great. Just to prove to yourself the power of your mind, what I want you to do is imagine around your eyelids, as if someone was just pouring Super Glue right there and right there. Super Glue all around your eyelids. Feel your eyelids locking down tight. Feel them locking shut. Feel that Super Glue draining across, first a cool then a warm sensation locking them down. Feel the eyes lock tight. There you go. The harder you try to open them, the more tightly they stick. Try to open them. Prove to yourself how tight they are. Try, and Copyright

then stop trying. Just drift again. Those eyelids, this hand, back to normal you re doing a good job. Because you ve done such a great job, I d like you to realize that you re about to get a little hypnotic gift. That s it. All you do is lift this arm, and I m not going to ask you to let it descent any more quickly than positive memories come your way. As that hand starts to descend, your unconscious mind starts opening up to positive experiences, memories from the past, you succeeding, feeling good, confident and doing things that make you feel good. As that hand starts descending, those memories start flooding in now. That s it. Feel those, so strong you might even start smiling. There you go. Isn t that something, stronger each time? By the time that hand reaches your side, it ll be so strong, it feels amazing. That s a pretty good feeling isn t it? Now I want to show you what to do with this. Did you ever do this? Leave this arm to the side like this and lock it tight again, only this time, flood it with something negative. A situation, a moment that you feel frustrated at a time in which don t think you can quite cope in the way you wish to. Feel this locking tight with that negative energy so it s out of your control. The more negative the situation, the more tightly this locks. Try to bend the arm and notice that you re just stuck, as you were stuck in that situation. Now here s a solution. Open your mind and let those memories come back let the positive memories coming back. With each memory, the tension drains out of the arm. With each memory, the negative experience drains out of your arm. With each memory, you feel more empowered and that arm becomes softer, more relaxed, looser and back in your control. With each memory coming stronger and stronger, now you feel good. Your mind feels fresh. You have a sense of possibilities coming through. Now as those possibilities come through, feel the tension draining from that arm. Feel the negative energy draining from that arm. Feel yourself being back in control of that arm, just as your back in control of that situation. When you know you can, and you feel yourself in control and that energy s drained from the arm, test it. See how you bend it and move it at your free will. Go ahead and try that. You re not quite there yet, some more memories, more positive experience. Let it flood you like it did before until you start smiling and that smile rushes up and through into your arm and there it goes. There you go. Feel the control coming back? That s what you have to do. Notice how you have to let yourself open even more fully to these memories, and then they overload this, and then you re in control. That s how it works. It s pretty cool, isn t it? So as soon as your hand is totally in control again, Copyright

relax it down by your side once again, and feel this good and smile because you did a great job. You ve done something very good. In a moment, I ll count from 1-5. At the count of 5, you ll open your eyes feeling refreshed, alert and simply fantastic; having a sense of real accomplishment because you ve discovered the secret about using your mind that many people don t know about. Any time in the future that you feel stuck, frustrated or somehow affected by a negative emotion, just stop, breathe and open your mind like that until your body starts feeling, your eyes flash, your mouth starts smiling. Feel that getting stronger now until your mouth starts smiling, and you know you ve got it, that connection always with you. Feel it happen now stronger and stronger until you can t help but smile. There you go. At the count of 5, you ll open your eyes, bringing back this good feeling. Stronger by the time you open yours. So the count of 1, coming up slowly; 2, take a deep breath in; 3, allowing the clean fresh air to fill you with energy; 4, start moving your arms and legs; 5, eyes open. You re refreshed, relaxed, alert and simply fantastic. Good job. Brett: Thank you. Igor: How do you feel? Brett: Great. Igor: Good job. Well done. What I want to do now is unpack what hypnosis is for you. So we ll look at some of the important principles you need to know before we get into the mechanics of actually doing an instant induction. The first thing you need to know is that hypnosis is a very natural state of mind. You ve probably been into and out of hypnotic trance many times this week, possibly even today. Hypnosis is something that our minds require in order to be able to assimilate information, to learn, to grow and make changes. If you couldn t go into a trance, then you d never change, you d never learn and you d never grow. So, assuming you ve done any of those things, it means that you can do this. The same is true of anyone that you work with. Essentially, what hypnosis does is it talks directly to a part of the mind that we like to call the unconscious or the subconscious. The unconscious mind, basically, runs most of your life. It makes sure that when you eat, it Copyright

digests your food. It keeps you warm. It keeps you safe. It runs your emotions, your memory, your feelings and everything that you do. When you learn something, you learn it unconsciously first. When you get dressed in the morning well, guess what? Do you have to figure out how to work your jacket or how to put on your pants? No, you don t, because your unconscious mind has learned how to do it, and you could be thinking of something completely different, and yet it will still get you dressed and still get you to work. It will still make sure that you re driving safely, even when your mind is thinking about other things. It s happening all the time. The only reason you haven t noticed it is because it was happening unconsciously. All learning, all behavior ad all changes happen unconsciously first. So if you want to influence people at any level, at some level you have to influence the unconscious mind. If you don t get that bit right, you get nothing right. The unconscious mind is so powerful, so how do we get to it? Well, that s what we re doing here. Instant inductions will teach you exactly what you need to know to get directly to the unconscious mind every single time. When you master instant inductions, you re also mastering foundations that make every other form of hypnosis easy. The principles, the experiences and the patterns that you ll learn in this instant induction training will be applicable in anything you do, whether it s officially hypnotic or just something to do with day-to-day life. You will understand people better, you will be able to read people better and you ll be able to influence them better, as a result, of understanding the stuff we ll be doing here. Before we get into the practical details of how to do this instant induction, I d like to walk you through some of the principles you need to have in the back of your mind because when you understand these principles, the induction will make sense and actually it will be very easy for you to do. 1. The hypnotic context The first principle you must remember and you ll have to use this anytime and anyplace you go is the hypnotic context. So what s this hypnotic context that we re talking about? Essentially, there are two things involved. The first one is: a. Rapport By rapport, I mean that people feel trust and comfort. They don t have to trust you like they trust their best friend. They don t have to be so comfortable around you that they ll come home with a complete stranger. What I m talking about is just enough comfort and enough trust that they ll be willing to open their mind to you. Once you have that, you have an open doorway inside their mind. Copyright

The second step is what I call the: b. ABS Formula I ll run you through that in a moment. What the ABS Formula does is once that doorway s open it just walks them gently, but irresistibly, into the land of hypnosis. Now what is this ABS Formula? It s a simple mnemonic to remember the three conditions that walk people into hypnosis. 1. You need their attention. The more attention you have, the better it is for you. 2. You ve got to bypass something called the critical factor. I ll get into that in a moment. 3. You ve got to stimulate the unconscious mind. Present a suggestion or an idea that it wants to respond to. Again, we ll be discussing that as we go through the program. So the ABS Formula is very simple. Can you absorb their attention? Can you bypass their critical thinking? Can you stimulate their unconscious mind? As we go through this training, I m going to give you insights into how to accomplish each of those three things. You might be wondering, what is the critical factor that is so important here? Well, it s very simple. The mind has certain filters put in place. We like to keep things the same. So think of it like a guard in front of a castle, and he s thinking, are you allowed in the castle? Are you allowed in? If information is too threatening to the person, their identity or something like that, they will reject it. If I try to convince you, for example, that the Easter Bunny is real and we ll go meet him, you know that I m either joking with you or a little crazy. Why? Because your critical factor won t allow you to accept that idea as actually being real. What we do in hypnosis is we get that guard out of the way and we can do this in many ways. Once he s out of the way, when I introduce you to the Easter Bunny, not only will you believe me, but you ll see him standing right here. So, in this instant induction training, we re going to walk through those three phases: the attention, the bypassing of the critical factor and the stimulating of the unconscious mind. At the end of the process, you too could have someone hallucinating the Easter Bunny, overcoming a problem, becoming more confident, quitting smoking or anything like that. You can do this because the ABS Formula, that pattern, is present in everything you do in hypnosis. When it s there, it works like a charm. When one piece is missing, well, Copyright

that s where you start running into trouble. In this training, I want to make sure that you never have a missing piece. We re going to come back to this idea of the ABS Formula repeatedly with different nuances so that you can always make it happen with anyone, anyplace, anytime. Even if things seem to go a little bit wrong, you ll know why and you ll know how to fix it. So let s see how we actually do this for real. The first thing we do is we ve got to bear in mind what context we re in. Right now we re in a studio, which is a little, shall we say an unusual thing. So I expect that my wonderful volunteers here are going to be a little bit nervous, and that s something I ve got to take into account for what I m doing. If you re doing this in a therapy room, for example, you have two kinds of clients. One person might be a little bit nervous, like Robin might be right now. It s okay. Others will totally at ease because finally they get a chance to do some good work. So just take the person where they re at, understand the situation that you re in and don t expect them to be totally relaxed straightaway. That s how you start creating that hypnotic context. Remember, the first thing we re looking for is rapport, which means a little bit of comfort and a little bit of trust. You don t have to have the biggest comfort in the world or the biggest trust. If it s fear, we don t want. If it s a little bit of nerves, that s just fine. In terms of trust, of course, I want to make sure that they trust me enough to be able to follow the suggestions that we ll be presenting. To do this, I ve got something called compliance testing. I want to make sure that they re following instructions along the way and that they re following it freely. If they re following it kind of reluctantly, like a (inaudible) teenager going, all right then I ll do it, you don t want that because you don t have their trust enough. So you have to do other things to build up their trust, and we ll talk a little bit more about that during the Troubleshooting section. Instant Induction Demonstration Igor: For the moment, here s what the compliance test looks like, and it s totally invisible. You might look at someone and say, are you ready to do some hypnosis? Robin: Yes. Igor: Now that s my first test. You get the smile and a little enthusiasm. That s what we re looking for. If they re going yeah well, you re not there yet. So now the first test has been passed. Copyright

The next one is I want to see if she ll actually follow some suggestions, some simple ones, before we even try any form of hypnosis. How do you do this? Well, very simply, I like to just move people around. Will you just face me for a second? Just come over here. Stand over there. Now turn around. That s it. Good. Now just take a half a step forward. Perfect. So there were four little suggestions in terms of movement. Whilst they re doing that, I m not just looking for them to do what I m asking for, but I m also looking for them to do it in a certain way. In other words, are they doing it freely without too much concern, or are they kind of looking confused like, why do I have to stand here? I ll do it, but I don t know about this. If I get that sort of a feel from the person that tells me that I ve got to work more with the idea of comfort and trust, then the induction especially the instant induction that I m about to do has a much higher likelihood of failing because they re not there yet. Right now, we ve passed the Compliance section. Now we re going to go straight into the induction. Remember, you need three things: ABS Absorb attention, Bypass the critical factor and Stimulate the unconscious mind. How are we going to absorb attention? Well, the first thing I m going to do is I like to touch. The reason I like to touch, again, it tends to absorb people s attention more than if I stand back here and go, look at me. I can do it this way too, but with a touch and it zooms their attention in much more. The next thing you want to do is eye contact. Eye contact is very powerful for absorbing someone s attention. It also puts them a little bit under emotional pressure, which starts to put the critical factor more on hold. We ll talk more about that during the Principles section or The Psychology of the Induction in the next lesson. For the moment, just mechanically speaking, we re holding on, making eye contact and, provided they can hold it, we re in pretty good shape at this point. Now on the other hand, if Robin s eyes dart around the room and go [gesture] or something like that, well, we don t have her attention yet. So I have to fix it. Let s see what happens if we do that. Just start looking away as I look at you. Okay. Just look at me and focus. There you go. Focus. Great! Now we can start. So now we ve got the position, we ve got the attention locked in and we re in a really good place to start. If you look at them at this point, you ll see that a lot of people will already start slowly defocusing their eyes. What will happen is their pupils get a little bit larger, and their gaze kind of relaxes a bit. As Copyright

Robin: Yes. soon as you see that happening there you go, good job you re pretty much set. You felt that didn t you? Igor: Exactly. So as soon as that starts happening, you re good to go. You re ready to do the induction. Robin: Yes. The induction itself is very, very simple. We ll talk about the principles and why you re doing all these things in the next section, The Psychology of the Induction. For now, let s just look at the mechanics of it. The first thing we do, of course, is your whole compliance testing in one step and say, ready for some hypnosis? Igor: Good. We have that. Stand over here please. Turn around and face me. Excellent! We ve got all that. Please look here. Good. Now we have the condition for it. Robin: No. The next step from here is to take one hand in fact, I ll take this hand here so you can see. What I want you to do is stick it in the back of their neck, very gently cradling it. Initially, as you re training for this, what I want you to do is just guide their head into your shoulder, all right. Now they have to give you their balance. Just give me your balance, just rest onto my shoulder. There you go. That s fine. They ve got to give you their whole balance, or they might stand on their own balance here. It doesn t really matter what s happening. You can even have someone s head guided over here. What we re looking for is for them to go into an unnatural position slightly. When their head is tipped forward, at this point here, you ll notice it doesn t feel comfortable, does it? Igor: It feels unusual and it s like, what do I do? If they stay there, that shows you a lot about trust. If they come forward and then pull right back again, well, then you have a little bit more work to do. You ve probably skipped one of the earlier steps. If you ve done your setup correctly though, most people will come forward, they ll think about going back a little bit, but as long as you keep a gentle but commanding control here. So, if they start pulling back a little, just pull back a little bit and just hold them there encourage them with your voice saying just relax a little more. There you go. That s it. Copyright

Notice how she ll follow along very naturally. So it s not like I m yanking her. I m just keeping it stable, focused and in control. So we ve got the compliance testing. We re locking in their attention. We ve got them in this position, and all I m doing is guiding her into my shoulder. It s just for stability s sake. This, basically, prevents them from collapsing to the ground in the case where you have a quick responder who responds so quickly that they might start losing muscle control to some extent. So this is just a very safe, stable position. Then you can start doing it up in the air and all that kind of stuff too. So once you ve guided them here, at this point, you re going into the deepening process, which we ll talk about more in a moment. The first thing you want to do now, before we get into the whole deepening phase, is to look a little bit at the mechanics of what you re doing here. What you don t want to do is just yank them forward. Can I just borrow your arm a second? Make this strong for a second. The neck is a delicate part of the body. If you start doing that, you ll start cranking things and yanking things and you ll probably end up in jail having done some egregious bodily harm to someone. That s not a good thing to do. So it s a very gentle movement. The reason it can look dramatic is because when a person s surprised, they might overcompensate, and that can look dramatic. All you re going to do initially is we re going to take their head, we re going to guide it gently into your shoulder, and then when you re ready for the induction, you re going to take one little finger at the back of the head, right here just turn this way so they can see in the camera. You re going to take one little finger in the back of their head, and with that little finger, all you re going to do is just tap. Do you see how the head just pops forward slightly? You should tap like this, and you re going to pull with the whole hand. You re going to tap and as soon as the head goes forward, the whole hand supports it and keeps guiding it. It looks like you ve pulled the head in, but you haven t. You tap for a little shock, and then you guide it gently back in. Gently is the word. If you don t do it gently, well, don t be surprised if a few people don t feel safe. When comfort and trust go out the window, this hand hypnotically comes up and does one of these things. [gesture] That s not a good thing. So we re here, we have got them locked in and their attention is on you. Now the critical factor bypass is, basically, a shock. Anytime you shock the nervous system, the mind recedes into a little trance to try to figure out what do I do now? I could shock them by pulling out a gun, for example, and that could work. The problem is there s not much comfort and trust going on there. Copyright

So what we re going to do to shock them is, basically, just shake them slightly. Do you see a little shock going on here? What we like to do here is just take your hand on the back of their head and your little finger just taps forward, and that slight loss of balance is enough for a body to go, what s going on? That s your window of opportunity. At that point, the critical factor has, basically, just gone hey, what s going on? If you give a clear, precise instruction, they are likely to follow it. What s the instruction in this case? Well, it s simple. Sleep. So you re here, you re looking at them and now, sleep. All the way that s right, all the way. Notice the stable position? Notice how I m not forcing anything? Then I m going to just check for relaxation. Why? Because the more relaxed they are, as a rule, the more they trust you in this experience. I might rock them from side to side to help that as well. Then I ll just tell them to go deeper. That s right. Go deeper, deeper and deeper. Now she doesn t know what deeper really means because she hasn t done hypnosis before, but at this point, it s kind of an instinct. There you go. That s it. What you re looking for here is you re testing for how much balance they give you. Notice how there s much more balance on top of me and how relaxed they are. How much do they respond to my little shifts? This tells me that they re responding well. Once I have that, I can just sit them back up or stand them back up on their own balance and come on back. Okay fantastic! So it s a very simple process. Remember, the shock is not a violent shock. It s just enough to startle them. Here s a very simple way. It s like a secret technique that not a lot of people know about. You can do this whole thing without actually looking like you re doing the whole yank and so one. Are you ready for this? Look at me. Sleep, all the way. That s right. Doing good. All right, deeper and deeper. When you re ready, open your eyes and come back feeling refreshed, relaxed and alert; rock n roll. How was that? Robin: Good. Igor: Now you ll notice if you look back, the moment I touched her forehead with a little tap, it was an unpleasant thing. So don t tap too hard, but you ll notice how her eyes blinked and she didn t quite know what to do. That s the point of opportunity. That s the point that you take advantage of. Copyright

Robin: Yes. So whether you re tapping here, or my preference is to just tap on the back of the head it s the same thing really when you re guiding them forward, you have the perfect position for hypnosis to occur. So now we have the mechanics so far. I would encourage you to start doing this first with just a friend. Don t even try to do hypnosis. Just get used to the steps. So mechanically speaking, here s what s happened. Your friend starts on one side, and it really doesn t matter which side it is. It s not like this is the hypnosis side. Just start on one side and say, are you ready to do some hypnosis? Igor: I m pretty convinced by that. Just come over here a second. I m watching to see how their complying. This is good. Then just stand there and look at me. Excellent! So I m doing well. Then I m just going to start initially saying, just get used to this whole motion here. All right then, I want you to get used to this idea of tipping the head a little bit and maybe just putting a finger at the back of their head. Turn this way so they can see. Robin: Good. Now I m just looking at her eyes to see what happens with her eyes whenever there s a little bit a shock. There you go. Just so you can see, let s get the focus on their eyes, and I ll stand to one side here. Now when I do the tap, you ll notice there s a little bit of a startled reflex. That s a natural reaction. You re looking for that because that s the opportunity for the induction. As soon as that happens move over this way, look over there, and sleep. That s right, all the way. Very good. Relaxing deeper- deeper- deeper, notice again, you saw the startled moment, and the sleep suggestion comes in. The key thing is what do you do at that point? Well, just go back into your balance. There. Very good. Eyes open, wide awake. How are you doing? Igor: Did you enjoy that? Robin: Yes. Igor: Very good. The key thing here is what you do immediately after you say, sleep. Now this is where most people go wrong. This is where most people fail in an induction that was actually succeeding. What happens is and we ll talk about this in the Psychology section they go into trance, and after a while they re not quite sure if they re doing the right thing. If all you do is say, sleep, and then stop there you go. Copyright

Did you see what just happened there? She wasn t sure if she should stay there or if she should come back. What am I supposed to do? There s a little confusion going on. You have to calm that confusion by telling them what happens next. So you re going to use a soothing voice and say something along the lines of, are you ready for this? And sleep, all the way that s it- deeper, deeper, that s it- deeper. I ve got your balance, don t worry. There you go. The deeper you go, the better you feel. That s it. You feel good now, don t you- deeper and deeper still. That s pretty much it. Now we have a trance. So now we ve got the basic mechanics, we know how to test them along the way very secretly, we know how to prepare them for the actual induction to succeed, we know the mechanics of getting them into trance, and we know how to stabilize that trance. We ll look at the language and things you can do and say a little more in the next lesson. Now what I want to do is show you a different way of deepening. One way is to say, go deeper, deeper, deeper. That s pretty simple. Another way and this is a very good way, especially if you have someone who might be a little bit more nervous to start with or who doesn t quite give you a full reaction right at the beginning. In other words, they don t relax as much or you re just not quite sure about this person. There s a little trick called fractionation, which works great. Essentially, they ll be in a trace close your eyes. There you go. Let s say you ve got someone in trance here. All you re going to do is get them to come out of trance. Open your eyes, out of trance. Then if you re-induce trance relatively quickly afterwards go ahead, and sleep all the way. That s it. Notice how they go deeper more quickly and more easily the second time. Now open your eyes. And sleep all the way. That s right a little deeper each time. Now open your eyes. And sleep all the way. That s right. You re doing great. Deeper- deeper- deeper that s it. Eyes open. And sleep all the waydeeper. Notice how each time as you re doing that, when she comes back, her eyes take a little bit longer to refocus. She finds herself drifting into this state a little more deeper, a little bit more quickly, and you ll notice that her relaxation response there you go, that s it, very good is becoming more profound each time. Notice also that at each step, I m encouraging her. I m giving her feedback. You re doing great. That s it. You re doing the right thing. Why? Because if I m Copyright

Robin: Yeah. working with a subject that hasn t done this before, they have no idea if they re doing something right. So, rather than having them sitting there worrying if they re doing the right thing, tell them and encourage them. That takes their mind away from having to worry about it and helps them deepen the particular experience. Eyes open fully alert, all done. Good job. So that s the fractionation. I like to do two, three or four of those cycles if I need to do them, just to make sure I have a nice deep state. Sometimes I ll have people right there and I m going, you know what, we re pretty much there. It would just be wasting time to try to do it then, so you just may as well roll along with it. It s a judgment call. It s there for you if you need it and if you don t; no big deal. There are a couple of things I want you to pay attention to whilst we re doing this. 1. Remember, we re touching them, and I like to move people around a little bit, like a little rocking sensation. One reason for rocking them is it s just kind of comforting on its own. Remember, comfort and trust are part of the hypnotic context. It s kind of comforting, and you ll see already that there s a kind of lulling. Do you feel that? A little lulling sensation going on? Igor: Repetitive rhythms are very useful. So, a little rocking here, we can move them from side to side. We can do all these sorts of things to help them to feel more comfortable. Now in case you want to say something important, you might notice that I m tapping as well. My fingers will tap, and this kind of emphasizes what I m saying. So are you ready to go into hypnosis? [gesture] Do you see how that emphasizes what I m saying? It makes the message stand out a little bit more as something important for them to pay attention to, and it just marks it out for special consideration. That s what we re doing here. We ll be doing this whole thing about rocking and presenting suggestion over and over again, throughout the whole induction. It never stops. It s something that we come back to as a default several times. They re little subtle clues that took me years to find out. No one actually taught me this. I found it out by seeing them doing it and working it out for myself. It s a great little tip. If you do this, it will make your life way easier. Copyright

Now what I d like to do is show you how to do some simple demonstrations that you can do at parties or with your friends. Ways that you can demonstrate the power of hypnosis, but at the same time, you can test whether the person s ready to respond to you. Up until this point, we ve just been relaxing them, opening their mind and maybe deepening things a bit more, but we don t quite know yet how much they re responding to your suggestions. To find out exactly how well they re responding, we re putting in a little test. This test is very simple called the stiff arm or the locked arm. All you ve got to do is once they re in trance here, we ll do it this way sleep, all the way, relax, that s it, integrate by the way, realize that every time they go into a trance, it s like a training process. They understand it more easily, they get there more quickly and it s less work. There you go. That s good. There s less work for you to do. Now once you have them in trance, just put their hand up here. The first move you do is to gently tug on the arm. It gives it an indirect suggestion for the arm to be stiff. Then just give this instruction: Make the arm stiff and rigid. Feel that fist forming. Feel the fist. Make a fist. Make it strong- strong, stiff, rigid. Strong, stiff, rigid; strong, stiff, rigid that s it, strong, stiff and rigid. I ll show you a little trick with this in a minute, strong, stiff and rigid. Make it so strong, like an iron bar. Feel it becoming rigid like an iron bar, stiff and rigid. Strong, like an iron bar. Feel it like concrete. Lock in tight. Locking, locking. Each time, along the way, by the way, I m touching their muscles to find out if they re relaxed. If they are, that s not good. If I m touch the muscle and I feel them stiffening up that s it, you re doing great stiffer, stronger. The stiffer they feel, the more relaxed they ll get. The stiffer this becomes, the better you feel inside. The stiffer this becomes, the better you feel inside. Strong muscles. I m also tugging the muscles and pulling gently. I m not ripping the arm. I m just tugging gently as a suggestion for it to stiffen. When you know that it s locked tightly and you know you can t move it, go ahead and try it, and notice that you can t. Then relax and let it go. Go deeper, deeper. You re doing a great job. Very good wide awake; fantastic! Back in the room. So it s very simple. Arm out. Tell them to lock it and make it stiff and rigid. Maybe give them some imagery, like an iron bar or a block of concrete, and at the point when you feel the arm muscles being rigid, you ll feel them starting to lock a little bit, that s when you allow them to test. Don t let them test too long, especially if they really are going for it. Some big guys might pull and pull, and they could actually give themselves an injury by Copyright

pulling their arm too much and fighting themselves too much. I ve heard of very rare cases of people tearing their muscles slightly doing this. So to avoid an injury, let them test a little bit, and when they re really struggling, just say stop, relax, let it go. Now here s a little trick. Just put your hand up here. If it s tense when they re relaxing, start shaking their hand and say, relax it now, relax and let it go. The reason for this is sometimes the muscles will lock, and there s a physiological effect going on. To help them release that physiological effect, we re just going to shake their arm around a little bit, because that just helps the arm to find its natural zero point of balance and return to normal. Here are a couple of other tricks. If you find that their hand is kind of halfheartedly there, then it s not really working too well. You re touching here and there s nothing really going on. The first trick is to tell them to make a fist. Form it for them if you need to. Make a fist. Feel it. Then just clench the fist for them. Why? Well, as a rule, when people feel their fist clenching, there s a sense that strength is required. It just comes back into the body. Actually make that fist and be very direct about it. Make that fist. Feel it strong. You ll notice already that the arm s beginning to firm up. The next thing you can do is you re doing little tugging motions like this [gesture], which gives the arm a suggestion to lock out. Feel yourself going this way. The third thing is challenge. Push on the arm- strong, stiff, rigid. Do you see what s happening here? Each time, I m getting a little bit of resistance from the arm and the arm locks a bit more- strong, stiff, rigid. Relax it, full movement returning to your arm. You have a lot of physiological things that are assisting the whole mechanics of what you re doing. Now notice how at the end, I didn t just shake her arm loose. I m also giving the suggestion to release the tension full movement is returning to your arm, your arm is back to normal, or whatever you re going to say. Always undo a suggestion that you presented, unless it s something positive that you want to continue for the rest of their life. So let s think a bit about why would we want to do a little demonstration like this? Why do we need to take someone s arm out, lock it up tight and so on? Well relax a little bit, very good there are three main reasons for it. 1. It s kind of impressive. It s going to impress your friends, and if you re doing a demonstration of hypnosis for other people, the group can visually see a suggestion in action. Copyright

2. It gives you, as the hypnotist, a guideline as to where they re at. If you put someone s arm up here and tell them to make it stiff and rigid, and they re like this, all loose and floppy and then you say go ahead test and see how you can t bend it to do this, guess what? They re not quite ready for the rest of the suggestions yet. It hasn t really happened. You can relax now. Thanks very much. 3. It s a great convincer for them. You re helping their mind to understand that something really is happening. A lot of times they re thinking, I can hear the hypnotist so it can t be happening. Suddenly, their arm is stuck, and they re trying and they re going, what s going on here? I must be hypnotized. By putting their mind to rest, it allows you to put that critical factor on hold. If they re wondering, is this hypnosis, am I here yet, am I done, well that curiosity, that wonder, that sense of doubt can creep into the rest of your induction and ruin it. So to avoid all that, as soon as you can, as soon as you think you ve gotten to the right place, you can do a simple test. Whether it s the eyes, the hand or something like that, it doesn t matter what, you re just getting a very clear sense of where the person s at and if they re responding to your suggestion. If they are, then you can carry on. Again, the three reasons you would want to do a little mini demonstration like this are: 1. It s a cool, impressive demo. 2. It lets you know where they are. 3. It lets them know they re succeeding too. Those are three very good reasons to do these little mini demonstrations to help everyone have a better hypnotic experience. So we ve tested for compliance, we ve done the induction, we ve deepened the induction and we ve got some kind of simple experiment or suggestion to know where they re at. So we ve tested the trance itself, and we re good to go. Now it s time to do my favorite bit, to give them a hypnotic gift. What is a hypnotic gift? Well, we all have these amazing powers inside our minds powers of memory and powers of finding solutions in areas where we re stuck. Anything you ve read about the power of the mind, well, hypnosis gives you instant access to it. As a thank you to my subjects for volunteering I want to give them an experience of that. How do we do this? Well, we re going to take them Copyright

through a very simple little process that teaches them the power of their mind. It s step-by-step and, by the way, this will all be written out for you, so just feel free to look through the transcript if you want. The first step is we ve got to give them some kind of a pleasant experience. It s called a resource. That resource is kind of like having a big vat of positive energy that they can then apply to other things to overcome problems, difficulties and so on. So what is the resource? In this sense, we re going to get them to go back inside their memories and find memories of happy occasions, enjoyment, successes, confidence or whatever it is you want to give them. I like to give them a little melting pot of everything, just to be sure. You want them to go through their memories and pull out these resources the good, positive energy so they have a big stalk of it ready to apply to something else. Now I don t know if she s doing the work inside her mind if she just sits there going, it s good. How do I know if she s done yet? Here s a little hypnotic trick, which, again, is very useful when people are watching you because it s kind of impressive, and it gives you a very clear demonstration of where they re at. What I like to do is just take one of their hands, usually the one that we started working with, and I ll just lift it up. I ll say to them, in a moment you ll have wonderful memories come your way. Positive experiences as these experiences come, that hand starts descending back down. Notice I m giving a little tap here on the hand. What that s telling you is that this is the way the hand should go, it should go down. If I want the hand to come up, I ll say, in moment you ll take this hand, and as those pleasant experiences come, the hand will start rising, lifting and lifting. Do you see what s going on right now? The hand has already been told which way to go, so you can take it up or you can take it down. Really it s up to you. For the moment it s up here, so I ll tell her the hand will only go down as quickly as those memories come. Notice I m tapping the forehead. This is going to be very important later on. This is a little trigger point. As this floodgate of memories of positive, enjoyable experiences comes, it s going to be associated with my tap. I m going to use that later on to unleash them at the right time. So these taps do have a lot of purpose. Coming back to what we were doing, they re in trance very good, thank you very much the hand s up here and that hand will only descend as quickly as those positive memories come. Let it start happening now. Let the memories come and notice that hand is descending as these memories come. Copyright

Now I m going to go between the two. I already see that it s happening. The hand s starting to descend. If you can see the eyes, as that continues, you ll see a fluttering of the eyelids and the eye balls moving underneath the eyelids, which is kind of like REM when people are dreaming. That s it. A little bit more memories. The hand s descending more positive. You might even smile. That s it. It feels good, doesn t it? That s right. More that s it. Now I m just tapping to associate the tap with those powerful memories while I talk to them. Get them to smile, get them to beam and really enjoy this so that this is locked into their mind, ready to use when they want or need to. By the time that hand relaxes down by your side, you ll have all the memories. That feels good, doesn t it? Very good. Stay there for a moment as I talk elsewhere, so step one is complete. We have the resources. You ve seen them being accessed because their hand descended. I started talking to them a little bit more to encourage more. You saw a smile of the positive things. You ll notice the eyes flickering as they access experiences, all good signs. I m tapping on the forehead to associate my tap with those experiences because that s going to allow me to turn them on like a tap later on. Now we re going to do something very interesting, having positive experiences on its own, well, that s a good thing to do. You could just leave it there, and people would be very pleased by it, but I like to go a little step extra. They have the resources, so we re going to do everything we ve just been doing, putting it together into one little parcel and it s going to be a positive gift for this person. What we re going to do is this. We re going to lift the arm right up and make it stiff and rigid. This time, we re going to make it rigid with all the negative stuff in their life. It could be from their life or a specific situation that they re thinking about. The point is they re now projecting that negative into the arm and stiffening it up. By the way, this is a great cheat to get this arm to become stiff in the first place because you re giving the unconscious mind a reason. You get to feel good as this arm becomes stiff. Project all the negativity here so you can feel good inside. Now very importantly, I get them to get this arm to be so rigid, so full of those negative emotions and bad situations or whatever they re thinking about so that they can t bend it. It, basically, teaches them that when they re out of control, this is what happens. So go ahead and try to bend it, and no she can t. So this is what happens, and you can stop testing now. This is what happens when you re out of Copyright
