3 NATURAL SUSTAINABLE SECURE ENERGY EFFICIENT LOW MAINTENANCE ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE All of the Redwood timber we use is sourced from certified Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) forests in Northern Scandinavia, so you can be sure that the timber used to make your windows has come from a sustainable and responsibly managed source. And, our windows are also carbon neutral, which means they absorb more CO2 from the atmosphere than they produce - saving around threequarters of a tonne of CO2 on average per house - so they re good for you and for the environment. CO2 Equivalent Carbon Dioxide WINDOW ENERGY RATINGS Allan Brothers can provide Window Energy Ratings (WER) so you can see for yourself just how energyefficient they are. Our windows also surpass current UK Building Regulations and have U-values well in excess of the present requirements. We fit energy efficient Low-E glazing to all of our windows as standard, but we can also provide triple glazed units with U-Values as low as 0.8W/m2K to meet more demanding environmental criteria. We design and manufacture a range of high performance A-Series windows. It is hung on fiction hinges, externally beaded and has a decorative internal mould on both sash and frame to lend it a more attractive appearance. Performance Independently tested and accredited to BS 6375 Part 1 and Part 2. Meets the criteria to achieve Trada High Performance Timber Window Scheme. Our windows are factory-fitted with dual weather-strips which give a water-tight seal and a high level of energy efficiency. An A energy rating is available for its high thermal performance, and is available with triple glazing for even more insulation. A rated on the BRE Green Guide Security Independently tested and accredited to BS Construction As standard, the windows are made from quality redwood. A hardwood option is also available. The range is constructed from generously proportioned timber sections. Glazing Using glazing rebates of 46 x 18mm, our A-Series window is factory fitted as standard with 28mm (4/20/4) Softcoat Low E, argon filled, double glazed sealed units, manufactured to BSEN1279. The glazing system has timber beads all round as standard. The beading is secured using Allan Brothers fixing system to enhance product integrity and appearance. Specialist glazing, e.g., argon filled, patterned glass or laminated, can be fitted, if required, to give additional insulation and/or security. A range of glazing bars and astragals can also be fitted on request. Security Designed to meet and exceed the requirements of BS Enhanced security for windows in private dwellings, this range offers a stronger and more effective deterrent to would- be burglars and vandals than ever before. This, also combined with the assurance of quality, styling and attention to detail makes the A-Series the window of choice for building companies concerned with security. Security locking by shoot-bolt espagnolette system with 6 locking points. High performance security glazing features double sided tape with a silicone infill around the unit and secured with our glazing system. Enhanced security to BS 7950 standards. Ironmongery This window is fitted with a stainless steel adjustable friction hinge which allows opening to 60 for easy cleaning. It is also available with a restrictor to limit initial opening of the window to under 100mm in accordance with BS 8213 Part 1:2004. In addition, an egress hinge which allows opening to 90 can be fitted to meet regulations for emergency access and egress Factory Finish Allan Brothers softwood products are treated with preservative after all machining. This is applied by means of a double vacuum process in accordance with BS8417 and NHBC recommendations. Our fully factory finished paint system uses water based coatings which are carefully formulated to seal the end-grain against moisture ingress, inhibit tannin stain and give the timber a quality look and feel. Ventilators All ventilators comply with current building regulations: Approved Document F England & Wales and Scottish Building Standards Section 3. Ironmongery Hinges Canopy Top Swung - Fully reversable: A canopy hinge is used to fully reverse the sash horizontally through 180 for ease of cleaning. It also incorporates a restrictor. Available in a specification that meets the requirements of BS7950- enhanced security for windows. Top Hung, Reflex Hinges: Outward opening sash on flush fitting hinges to accommodate a smaller sash. Side Hung, Reflex Hinges: Outward opening sash on heavy duty friction stays, allowing opening to 88 for ease of cleaning. Available in a specification that meets the requirements of BS7950- enhanced security for windows. The whole System 2000 range of windows are supplied with espagnolette locking as standard. Lockable handles are also standard, with an extensive range of styles and finishes available. Optional Key Locking Restrictor. Recent improvements are both design and performance related and can include an attractive internal mould on both sash and frame as well as an improved glazing system. 13 VERTICAL SLIDING SASH WINDOWS NATURAL SUSTAINABLE SECURE ENERGY EFFICIENT LOW MAINTENANCE Sash windows have been used extensively in Britain since the seventeenth century. Their pleasing proportions and aesthetic appearance add charm and elegance to any building. Allan Brothers have designed and manufactured traditional sash windows for many years. 14 VERTICAL SLIDING SASH WINDOWS Specifications Cases The windows are supplied with 95mm wide inside facings and 110mm outside facings to form an open pulley box to suit reveal openings. Boxed mullions with continuous head and soles, 153mm wide to suit 6 inch imperial stone mullions, are standard, although wider ones can be made to order. If required, external mullion plates can be provided. Frame Soles Windows are supplied with flush soles as standard. 25, 45, 62 and 87mm timber sole extensions are also available on request. Sizes The recommended minimum and maximum sizes are:- Minimum 400mm wide - 1,000mm high Maximum 1,500mm wide - 3,000mm high Performance Tested independently and approved to BS 6375 Part 1 Construction As standard, the windows are made from quality redwood. A hardwood option is also available. Operation Traditional pulleys with heavy duty cords and lead weights (lead weights supplied separately to aid handling). Spiral balances are also available on request, factory fitted and pre-tensioned. Our windows are factory-fitted with a easy slide weather-strip which gives a water-tight seal, a high level of energy efficiency and smooth, rattle-free operation. Glazing A fully drained and vented glazing system is used for improved performance and insulation and timber beads are fitted all round to simulate a traditional putty line. 22mm (4/14/4) Softcoat Low E, argon filled, double glazed units, manufactured to BSEN1279, are factory fitted as standard. 4 or 6mm single glazing are available on request, as are a wide range of glass types and specifications including obscure, safety and anti-sun. Ironmongery Pulleys: Brass wheel pulleys with mirror finish polished brass face plates are fitted as standard. Fastners: As standard, one brass non-locking fastener is fitted to the meeting rails and two brass hook lifts to the lower sash rail. On request, chrome fittings can be provided. Security devices: As standard one face fixed sash lock and strike plates fitted with detachable key. Optionally, for improved security, two such devices can be fitted. Cleaning Facilities : Special ironmongery (Simplex Fittings) can be fitted to cord and weight windows to assist with cleaning of the sash window from inside the building. When asked to fit such ironmongery, we provide batten rods that are hinged. Ventilation All ventilation is through the head and is concealed to eliminate usightly and vunerable external canopies, ventilators comply with current building regulations: Approved Document F England & Wales and Scottish Building Standards Section 3. Multiple Panes On request, a choice of timber bonded glazing bars or solid bars can be fitted on factory glazed units to give any required multi-pane effect. It is designed to replicate the fenestration of traditional sliding sash windows whilst, at the same time, being able to meet the demanding performance levels expected today. The wide range of sizes, glazing and glazing bar specifications and finishes that are available means that, no matter what your requirements, our Dual Turn window will meet them. Glazing 22mm (4/14/4) featuring Softcoat Low E, argon filled, double glazing as standard, with drained and vented system to ensure excellent thermal and sound insulation. Specialist units, for additional insulation and security, are available on request. Timber beads are used all round to further enhance the traditional appearance. The beading is secured using Allan Brothers fixing system to enhance product integrity and appearance. Security glazing tapes are fitted to the internal upstands, making it virtually impossible to remove the glazing units from the outside. A range of glazing bars and astragals are also available on request. Ironmongery Each sash is hung on fully concealed top hung reversible hinges incorporating opening restrictors and an anti-blow back device. The sashes operate totally independently of each other, allowing maximum flexibility of use to the end user. Both sashes are fitted with quality locking handles as standard, in a choice of colours. 18 VERTICAL SLIDE & TILT WINDOWS Specifications Frame The windows are supplied with 145mm deep frames Frame Soles Windows are supplied with flush soles as standard. 25, 47, 62 and 87mm timber sole extensions are also available on request. Sizes The recommended minimum and maximum sizes are:- Minimum 490mm wide - 840mm high Maximum 1500mm wide mm high (depending on glass specification max sash weight 35kg) Performance Tested independently and approved to BS 6375 Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3. Security Independently tested and accredited to BS7950. Construction As standard, the windows are made from quality redwood. A hardwood option is also available. Operation Sashes slide vertically on factory fitted and pre-tensioned spiral balances for ventilation/escape. To enable cleaning, the sashes tilt inwards. Our windows are factory-fitted with an easy slide weather-strip which gives a water-tight seal, a high level of energy efficiency and smooth, rattle-free operation. Glazing 28mm (4/20/4) Softcoat Low E argon filled double glazed units, manufactured to BS EN1279, are factory fitted as standard. A wide range of glass types and specifications including obscure, safety, security and leaded are available. A fully drained and vented internally beaded glazing system is used for improved performance and insulation. The external sash profile simulates a traditional putty line. Fasteners As standard, one locking sash lock is fitted to the meeting rails with matching tilt latch knobs and two hook lifts to the lower sash rail. Security devices can be fitted if required and, as a minimum, we recommend one travel stop and strike plate with a detachable key. Optionally, for improved security, two such devices can be fitted. 22 IV-UNI WINDOWS & BALCONY DOORS Construction All timber used in the manufacture of IV-UNI windows is harvested from well managed forests. Allan Brothers are proud to only use the best quality FSC Certified Scandinavian pine. Using the most advanced production techniques, the windows are manufactured using laminated and finger jointed sections of carefully chosen timber. This eliminates knots and other imperfections, reduces wastage and increases the rigidity and quality of timber, providing a high quality finish to the product. All timber is preservative treated before assembly. Glazing (available double or triple glazed) The internal glazing bottom rebate in all openings has a system to allow water to drain and air to circulate. The internal glazing beads are fixed using a concealed nailing system. Glazing unit sizes are 24-54mm depending on the profile chosen. Glazing Bars Glazing bars, transoms and mullions can be added into the frame to form different glazed or sashed configurations. Combined with a variety of Add-On Bars you can create various designs within the glazing areas. Ironmongery We use a range of ironmongery obtained from the best manufacturers making sure that they comply with all the latest standards. All hinges and espagnolette system are manufactured from high grade materials that provide high mechanical performance. Restrictors Window restrictors are available upon request. Weatherstrips The sealing between the sash and frame is achieved by two or three continuous weatherstrips. This is compressed by the sash onto the frame rebate thus ensuring maximum weather tightness when subjected to severe weather conditions. Test reports are available on request. In addition to our standard colour range, our IV- UNI window range is available in any RAL colour.
