Using at-home technology, 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, via telephone and Internet, the Company monitors patients with pacemakers, implanted defibrillators (ICDs), suspected arrhythmia and other cardiac-related conditions. The INR@Home monitoring service assists long-term warfarin patients to self-test weekly, helping to reduce the possibility of anticoagulationrelated complications. 7 Telehealth solutions Philips Patient Telemonitoring Services (PTS) and Motiva, an interactive healthcare platform using broadband television, provide the ability to monitor patient health at home.these services offer patients a way to remain independent with the knowledge that they are connected to care when they need it. PTS allows patients to stay connected with their healthcare providers following hospital discharge (e.g., for short-term care and follow up), while Motiva is the care bridge between the healthcare provider and chronically ill patients at home (e.g., for long-term care and follow up). 10 Respiratory Drug Delivery Addressing the needs of patients, providers and pharmaceutical companies, Respiratory Drug Delivery (RDD) provides products and support that enable a variety of treatments via the respiratory system. RDD participates in the nebulizer and MDI spacer-device segments of the respiratory drug delivery market to aid with the treatment of Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Additionally, using Adaptive Aerosol Delivery (AAD) inhalation technology, we participate in the drug-specific segment of the respiratory market.aad technology delivers the right amount of medication to the patient regardless of size or breathing patterns, and monitors the patient s breathing throughout treatment. This approach is unique in managing inhalation therapy for patients with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension and CF. RDD also assists pharmaceutical companies to develop new aerosol formulations for both respiratory and nonrespiratory conditions; we provide testing resources and conduct clinical trials to help validate and secure approval for promising aerosol therapies.
