How many physical servers are in the WMATA environments which are consolidation candidates? Response: Up to seven (7) candidate physical servers. Q2. Will there be a pre-proposal conference? Response: No Q3. Do we get to meet with the customer to ask questions? Response: No Q4. What does the customer mean by resilient? Response: Ability to quickly recover from faults impacting SQL infrastructure Q5. Does the customer realize the cost to develop a available infrastructure? Do they have the need for this? Response: Vendor is supposed to provide cost for their solution. WMATA is a transit agency with 24x7 operations. Q6. Are the applications on the latest versions of SQL - will they need to be upgraded prior to being consolidated into new infrastructure? Applications are hosted on both Response: Applications are hosted on SQL 2005 and SQL 2008 environments. Will need both. Q7. The requirement is to design and implement an enterprise level, highly scalable SQL infrastructure. What are the customer s future growth (scale) requirements? This implies scalability assessment. Does the customer need a scalability assessment? Response: The architectural should be scalable from the bottom up as the future requirements (ongoing process) grow and more applications are supported by the new SQL infrastructure. Q8. Is the customer open to SQL as a Service (Cloud either private or public) to accommodate scaling requirements? Response: Any solution must be hosted in WMATA s facilities Q9. What does the 1 year post implementation support consist of? Response: Vendor must support any issues should the implementation fail or encounter technical issues related to the architecture. OS and SQL support will be obtained thru Microsoft.

3 Q10. Who provides the environments for Dev, Test, Stage, QA etc to conduct the risk analysis, solution design, configuration, installation, validation, test migration, etc? It appears that the customer does; however we would like more detail. Response: Vendor can propose and implement Dev, Staging and QA environment as part of their solution. Q11. Is this correct that the project must be complete within 60 days? Response: Yes Q12. How can any contractor respond to this RFP without knowing how many physical servers are consolidation candidates? Response: See response to Q1 Q13. What is the configuration of the WMATA provided development environment? Response: See response to Q10 Q14. Will vendor be able to connect to WMATA network with vendor machines for internet access? Response: WMATA will provide workstations. Vendor can use their wireless equipment using vendor s wireless service provider. Q15. Since the project requires consolidation of existing SQL Databases with the new infrastructure that will be deployed, are there any SQL 2000 databases at all in the existing environment or are they all SQL 2005 & 2008? Response: There are SQL 2000 DBs in the environment; however, focus at this time is SQL 2005 and Q16. Is there a list of all of the Applications that currently connect to the existing data sources? It will help us to know about the applications and how WMATA has developed the DAL layers between the application and database.
