OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1 Machines are split into two categories: A Cavity Blockmaking machine or a Solid type Brick or Paver making machine. 2 It is recommended that a reputable cement such as PC15SL or Black Bag cement be used Your mix must not exceed 10 measures of material, (either sand or crusher dust or a blend of the two) to 1 measure of cement The strength of your block depends on the amount of cement and the amount of water used when mixing. We recommend 8 measurers of material to 1 measure of cement for a reasonably high quality product. (4 wheelbarrows of material & 1 pocket of cement) 3 Remember, what you manufacture today you pick up tomorrow Then stockpile and water at least twice a day for a minimum of 3 Days 4 The mix is made semi dry. If your blocks stick to the concrete floor, then your mixture is too wet. When you squeeze it in your hand it should form a lump. You should only have a dryish deposit of fine material sticking to your hand. If the lump crumbles, your mix is too dry. If the lump squeezes between you fingers, your mix is too wet. 5 You should not build with or sell your blocks for a minimum of 10 days 6 If your product is crumbly or cracks very easily or if the material can be rubbed loose with your thumb after the first 24 hours, then check the following DO NOT use brak water DO NOT use old cement (older than 3 months) DO NOT use very fine sand DO NOT use sand with clay content DO NOT use ordinary soil HAVE YOU USED THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF CEMENT TO MATERIAL 7 Your local PORTLAND CEMENT INSTITUTE will assist you to ensure that the material you want to use is suitable for block or brick manufacture. They will guide you in using the correct mix and blend of material for test results.

MANUFACTURING INSTRUCTIONS 1 Your D.I.Y. mould is in two parts: The Mould Box ( blue ) The Tamper Frame ( red ) 2 CAVITY BLOCK a) Fill the mould box to level with the top of the cavity former ( the small boxes inside the mould box which forms the 2 hollows) b) Take hold of the 2 blue handles and give the box a gentle shake this settles the mix in the box. Check that the level is even. If not, add a little mix to level off. c) Put your feet onto the lips on both ends of the blue mould box d) Place the red tamper frame into the mould box. Rock the tamper left and right rapidly and then whack it up and down until the cross bars at the bottom of the frame touches the ground. Do not continue to whack, as your block is now the correct height. e) Move your feet onto the Red Cross bars of the red tamper frame. Grab the two blue handles of the mould box and give a very gentle Shake. Now lift the mould box. Your block is left on the floor. f) Tilt the whole unit towards yourself and move it one space. Make sure you are past the block you have made and put it on the floor. g) Lift the red frame out of the blue box and put it over the block you have just made. The red tamper will not damage the block as it is the right height, and it is out of the way. h) Now carry on as from a) above 3. SOLID TYPE BRICK OR PAVER a) Fill the blue mould box to the top of the divider plate DO NOT SHAKE NOW FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS AS FROM B2. c) ABOVE
