4 Introduction The RIC converter for Excel is a tool designed to assist users with the renaming of RICs hard coded in Excel workbooks that will be affected by Reuters RIC Renaming Projects. The tool will rename all RICs which are defined in the RIC list published by the RIC Renaming Project. Running the Tool To run the tool, follow the steps given below: 1. Open the file called RIC_Renaming_Tool_for_Excel_v2.4.xla through the Excel File Open Menu or via Excel s Add In method. The file can be found in Q:\RIC Conversion Tools. 2. If required, please enable macros by checking the Always Trust Macros from this Publisher checkbox and pressing the Enable Macros button. 3. 5 4. Activate the workbook to be converted by clicking in a cell in that book and disable any protection set on sheets that the converter needs to check. It is advisable that a backup copy of the file is created before running the conversion. 5. Click the Rename RICs button. The tool will appear in a pop up window which invites the user to: Select the worksheets to be converted the tool operates on individual worksheets within the active workbook. Please select the worksheets that require conversion. Filter Exchanges - If the RIC Renaming project impacts many exchanges, the tool will also give the option to filter out specific exchanges. This allows the tool to only focus on exchanges that are relevant to the user and hence reduce the time taken to convert the worksheets. 5 Excel Converter for Hosted PPPro

6 Convert Sheets to convert the affected RICs on the selected worksheets. Backup Current Saved File if this box is checked, the tool will create a backup of the current saved file before converting. Location Report Only if this option is selected, the tool will NOT convert the worksheets, but will display a report of the locations of the impacted RICs. The title of the specific RIC Renaming Project which the tool is configured to support is displayed at the top tool. In the case above, the tool is configured to support the Futures and Options RICs Realignment project. Clicking on the title will lead to the Reuters Customer Zone website for the project. Additional information relating to the specific RIC Renaming Project is also displayed in the Project Information section. 6 Excel Converter for Hosted PPPro

7 6. Once the required options have been selected, click on the Ok button. If Generate Location Report Only has been checked, the tool will generate a report of the RICs which are impacted in the workbook. If Convert Sheets button has been selected, the tool will convert all RIC codes which are impacted by the change. At the end of the process, a message will be displayed detailing the number of changes made and giving the option to view a log of the changes. Click Yes to create and view a log of the changes made. 8 7. Check all the sheets are working correctly before saving the workbook. It is advisable to "Save As" a new file and check its functionality before overwriting the original file. 8 Excel Converter for Hosted PPPro
