Intensive Intervention. focusmath is an intensive, K 6 math intervention program designed to fit any Response to Intervention (RtI) framework and work with any math program. focusmath Intensive identifies at-risk students early and accelerates their learning with instruction that is intensive, balanced, and individualized. focusmath Components Focal Point Focal Point 2 Focal Point 3 Intensive focusmath provides concise lessons built on the NCTM Focal Points to provide explicit and systematic instruction on foundational skills. Balanced focusmath utilizes stepped-out instructional models along with strategic questions that let students verbalize their understanding. Teacher s Editions focusmath includes one Teacher s Edition per grade level made up of three different units. Each unit covers one of the NCTM Focal Points and provides between four and six weeks of instruction. The lessons can be taught in one or two days and concentrate on foundational skills for the Focal Point. BOOK A and Algebra BOOK B BOOK C Geometry Individualized focusmath offers targeted placement and ongoing progress monitoring to help teachers individualize instruction. The program includes multiple opportunities for teachers to diagnose understanding and adjust instruction for struggling students. Program Placement Test Quick Check Topic Test Exit Program Test focusmath uses a placement test to identify weaknesses and determine entry points. Every lesson in focusmath includes a Quick Check daily progress-monitoring assessment that measures student understanding. The Topic Test at the end of each focusmath topic provides progress monitoring and a summative assessment. Exit Tests inform teachers on student progress for the Focal Point and essential skills. 4 5
