4 IESO I&TS Group Overview A Few Statistics: Total # of employees 160 Support over 150 different applications 30,000 points of real-time data collected every 2 4 seconds from approximately 200 different locations Wholesale operations collects meter data from 5,000 meters daily, representing approximately 1.4M pieces of interval data SME collects approximately 100M pieces of interval data daily from 4M meters to support Time-of-Use billing IT Operations desk fields about 25,000 service requests per annum 830 servers, 1,050 laptops/desktops, and over 300 databases 4

10 IESO Project Management Process Project Management scales up in effort and complexity as projects increase in complexity, variability and size A simple, small project may require nothing more than a deliverables list with name of person responsible and due date A complex, large project will require a detailed project plan which includes, risk log, deliverables list, acceptance criteria, communication plan, cost details etc. 10
11 Project Management Establish SMART business objectives Establish funding and scheduling parameters Capital costs Non-capital costs Timeline to implementation All projects have a Project Sponsor Establish Project Steering Committee In certain instances establish an Executive Steering Committee 11
12 Project Management Project Steering Committee (PSC) meets monthly Information includes: Previous meeting minutes Items for decision or information Activities both planned and completed Project risks PSC supported by Project Management Office, project manager, and project staff 12
13 Project Management The person (or body) that approved the project must approve The removal of any business objective A request for any additional funding A request for additional time to complete the project This is done via an Exception Report Objective is to ensure the original approving authority is aware of, and agrees with, any significant changes to the project 13
14 Project Management In addition to detailed reporting for each project I&TS produces a dashboard on a monthly basis showing the status of all projects in the implementation phase Dashboard uses green, yellow, red methodology tracking Cost status Schedule status Achievement of business objectives Adherence to the project management process 14
