8 Giving Back to Our Communities At Gate City Bank, a better way of life is what we believe, how we live, and how we contribute to making a better way of life a reality in the communities we serve. We certainly understand the value of money and time. It is our honor and commitment to give both throughout our communities. Gate City Bank employees volunteered to help fill backpacks for the United Way of Cass-Clay School Supply Drive Charitable Giving Gate City Bank contributed $3 million in 2013 and $1.25 million in 2012 to the North Dakota Housing Incentive Fund which will help 13 communities build 494 housing units. Since its inception $689,000 in scholarships have been awarded to 618 students in the region. Scholarship winner Callie Ann Hoffbeck, Fergus Falls Kennedy High School Education/ Youth/ Scholarships 29% (Does not include contributions to North Dakota Housing Incentive Fund.) Community/ State Projects/ Events 14% The Bank s charitable impact totaled more than $4.5 million organizations for 357
9 Supporting Our Employees In addition to offering competitive salaries and benefits, we support our employees by empowering them to support our communities. We match their charitable donations and provide paid time off for volunteer work. Tavia Smith was presented the 2013 Lifesaver Award from the North Dakota chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Salvation Army bell ringing Volunteering for the Emergency Food Pantry Rebuilders Loan Programs Gate City Bank participated in the Rebuilders Loan Programs that were developed by the North Dakota Legislature to financially assist residents in the Minot and surrounding communities to restore their homes following the floods of Gate City Bank processed and serviced 518 loans for a total of $16 million. Gate City Bank also offered its own reduced interest rate program in Minot, Bismarck, and Mandan to help fix flood damage or take preventative measures to stop possible damage. The Bank originated 82 loans worth $1.1 million. Gate City Bank is proud that we were able to help our neighbors reclaim their homes and their lives after the devastating floods.
