1 Aviation Business Administration Courses at a Glance MATH222 Business Statistics This course provides an introduction to the basic concepts of descriptive and inferential statistics. Students are expected to use computer software to analyze sets of data and to communicate the results of statistical analyses in a clear and concise manner. Specific topics include classification of variables, graphical displays of data, measures of central tendency and dispersion, probability distributions, the Central Limit Theorem, sampling techniques, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, correlation, and simple linear regression. Emphasis is placed on business applications of statistics. The goal is to enable students to select and apply appropriate descriptive and inferential statistical techniques to analyze varying types of data, to defend the rationale for selection of the techniques, and to effectively communicate results of their analyses. MATH320 Decision Mathematics The mathematical concepts and applications in mathematical model building and problem solving will be explored. Included are mathematical areas which are basic to decision theory. Enable students to select and apply appropriate mathematical and statistical decision models to various types of management problems, to defend the rationale for model selection, and to effectively communicate results of their analyses. MGMT201 Principles of Management A comprehensive overview of relevant management principles and practices as applied in contemporary organizations, this course focuses on management theories, philosophies, and functions. After completing this course, the student should acquire a working knowledge of the role of management in modern business organizations, both domestic and global and understand how today s professional managers integrate theory and practice. From this learning, the student should be able to assume the basic responsibilities in a managerial capacity. The student should also develop a personal philosophy of legal, ethical and social responsibilities of management.

2 BSAB325 Social Responsibility and Ethics in Management The course provides a comprehensive inquiry into the major components of social responsibility and a study of moral and ethical issues that relate to problems in business. Focus will be on the economic, legal, political, ethical, and societal issues involving the interaction of business, government, and society. This course is designed to assist students in developing an awareness of the major ethical issues that affect business decisions, and to encourage a socially responsible consideration of those issues. COR160 Essential Academic Writing Skills This University core course offers the essential writing skills required by undergraduates in a university to help them function effectively in an academic environment and beyond. The course introduces students to the basic principles of critical reading and writing skills, such as summarizing and synthesizing information from different texts, critically evaluating information for use in project papers, selecting and incorporating information from other sources in a text as well as accurately documenting such information within and at the end of a text following referencing conventions. These skills are generic and transferable to other disciplines in their class work, assignments, project papers and examinations. COR161e Presenting with Confidence The ability to present information effectively or to persuade an audience to a way of understanding is a skill that serves the students well in both the university and the workplace. A presentation is not just about getting the message across; it also influences a way of thinking. It has to be purposive and audience-centred. In the course of their study at the university, students can expect to be making presentations. The requirement to present becomes even more prevalent in their work life where the ability to present may be career making or career breaking. COR165 Thinking Critically This course enables students to have at hand strategies to validate their decisions and judgments as informed, reasoned, and sound. Professionals today require a critical thinking and analytic mindset to handle competently the profusion of information. The course will foster a spirit of critical inquiry through practiceoriented sessions.

3 GSP163 Introduction to Critical Media Literacy Media has become so much part of life that many take an uncritical approach to its underlying messages. However, media is not merely informational. Instead, it is a powerful force that shapes our realities and unconsciously influences the way we perceive ourselves and the world: it colours our understanding of society, politics, and culture. Throughout this course we will examine the ways media defines our perceptions and shapes our life experience. By making media consumption an active and critical process, students will see how media can also misrepresent and manipulate BUZ105 Statistics BUZ 105 Statistics provides students with an understanding of statistical concepts and techniques to generate information for decision-making. The course covers data, descriptive statistics, probability distributions, sampling distribution, interval estimation, hypothesis testing, ANOVA and regression. Emphasis will be placed on acquiring the analytical and interpretative skills needed to understand statistical findings. ICZ219 Information Systems Role in Organizations and Infrastructure The course aims to provide an overview of information systems and their roles in helping businesses to remain competitive, as well as to provide a technical foundation to appreciate the major technologies needed by business firms. It focuses on learning about the various kinds of information systems and technologies, and understanding how they could help business firms improve their organizational performances. This course adopts the viewpoint of a business professional, rather than a computing professional. Hence, you will learn how the work of managers is influenced by information technology (IT). BSAB317 Organizational Behavior This course provides an overview and analysis of various behavioral concepts affecting human behavior in business organizations, with emphasis on research, theory, and practice. The primary objectives of this course are: 1) to increase student understanding of the complexity of managing human behavior in organizations, 2) to explore basic theories and concepts of behavior in an organizational setting, and 3) to apply management problem solving techniques to organizational behavior.
